The major event this time of year is the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade of Lights. A tradition over 100 years in the making, this annual event is renowned for its gorgeous light displays and nautical theme. It’s a unique experience that combines various holiday festivities with a beautiful and iconic parade – all on the picturesque waters of the Pacific! Hundreds of ships compete for awards in several categories, making this “one of the largest decorated boat parades in the country.” The parade will run for five nights, from Wednesday December 17th to Sunday December 21st. Join the over 1.5 million people who gather to watch this magnificent parade each year – you won’t regret it!

Visitors will also enjoy viewing the Ring of Lights – a collection of bayside homes (and a few businesses) that compete with one another to see who can put together the best display of lights and holiday decorations. These gorgeous estates are even more beautiful when bedecked for the holidays than they are during the year – and that’s saying something! You can see these homes from Newport Beach, or aboard one of Newport Landing’s celebrated cruises.

San Diego AttractionsSpeaking of cruises, you won’t want to miss out on Newport Landing’s famous Holiday Lights Cruise! Starting December 4th, these festive evening cruises will highlight Newport Beach’s beautiful holiday décor and stunning displays of light and color. These cruises even travel with the parade, so you can be part of the whole experience! If you’d prefer a daytime cruise, the Newport Landing’s famous Whale Watch is a can’t-miss San Diego attraction that everyone will love. These cruises run year round, so a winter cruise is a great opportunity to avoid summer crowds. Expect to see a wide variety of sea life, from whales and dolphins to seals and sea birds. You’ll even get a chance to see the beautiful grey whales, who are found in this part of the Pacific during the winter and spring months only.

So be sure to swing by Newport Beach this holiday season to enjoy some of the area’s most iconic Christmas events. Bring the whole family aboard one of Newport Landing’s beautiful Holiday Lights Cruises, and be sure to bring a camera!
