4 Reasons Why We Love Wet ’n’ Wild Hawaii

Take your trip to the next level with a visit to Hawaii’s only waterpark!

Whether you’re a thrill-seeker, sun-lover, or just want to while away the day lounging along a lazy river, Wet ’n’ Wild Hawaii brings the heat (and the splash). Dive in and make your next island day unforgettable.

Sightseeing can be tiring, so why not take a break and have some family fun? At Wet ‘n’ Wild Hawaii, you can play, relax, and slide your way to the best day out. Here are a few reasons why we think this waterpark will make a splash on your vacation!

Fun For Every Age

A dad playing with his daughter at a waterpark. Other children are having fun.

Wet ‘n’ Wild Hawaii is perfect for families. The 29-acre park is chock-full of rides and attractions for everyone and all of them have a sort of “wild” scale, so you know whether it’s gonna be a chill cruise or full-on thrill! Practice your surfing skills on Da’ Flowrider, Hawaii’s only simulated surfing experience, brave the Tornado, a rambunctious water slide that catapults you through a swirling funnel, or take it easy in the lazy rivers of the Kapolei Kooler for a refreshing unwind.

Adults – let the kids roam free while keeping watch from your cosy loungers surrounded by luscious greenery and allow teens to explore the thrills of the rides.

An Adrenaline Junkie’s Playground

Four people swirling down the funnel of The Tornado ride.

If the thrill is what you’re after, then Wet’n’Wild does not disappoint - the only struggle is deciding which ride to try first.

The Tornado might just top our list. Launched from a 50-foot platform into a massive funnel, you’ll endure/enjoy a swirling-whirling headrush before plunging into the pool below. To keep the adrenaline flowing, head to Shaka: reaching speeds of up to 31mph, you’ll feel gloriously weightless on a giant U-shaped plunging slide. You might get the jitters on this one, but we promise you’ll be queuing up for round two!

Other honorable mentions include the O-Hana Highway, complete with winding slopes, sharp turns, and tummy-flipping descents, and your choice of three Surf Slider routes that’ll have your body sloshing side-to-side down a twisting tube. Plus, if you visit in summer 2025, you’ll experience Wet ‘n’ Wild’s exciting brand-new ride – the Volcanic Wedgeee! If that extra ‘e’ doesn’t scream adventure, then we don’t know what does.

A Slice of Paradise

Rides not your thing, or maybe you just want a break from all the excitement? The park also has some great opportunities to relax and take things slow, which makes it a perfect destination for locals and tourists alike. Take your experience to the next level by renting a cabana! Your pass gives you a lovely 20% discount on rentals so why not take advantage and unwind in your own private paradise? With food and drink served straight to you, this is the perfect way to get a VIP experience and kick back, all while enjoying the serene atmosphere.

Or perhaps you do want to get stuck in, but at a slightly slower pace than some folk. If that’s the case, then lounging in the Hawaiian Waters Wave Pool may be right up your street. While the deep end boasts two-foot-high swells for those craving the motion of the ocean, the shallow end is perfect for those looking for gentle, rolling waves – a great opportunity to take in the lush surroundings while unwinding in the calm waters. Or head over to the Kapolei Kooler for a refreshing journey on the lazy river – tranquil, tropical cave vibes as you wind through the flowing streams (although watch out for the occasional rapid or waterfall that could wake you from a relaxing nap).

What’s The Hype?

We’ve touched on some of the highlights, but what makes Wet ‘n’ Wild Hawaii special? Well, first and foremost, it’s the only waterpark in the entire state, and they’ve fully embraced the energy of the island to give guests that tropical Hawaii experience – no concrete walls to block out the distant mountains or the ocean breeze. Adrenaline-pumping rides surrounded by lush landscapes and the Hawaiian sun? Sign us up.

With a variety of rides and activities, the park’s a great spot for families and tourists—no worries about toddlers being left out or teens getting bored. It strikes a satisfying balance between high-energy fun and relaxation.

Perhaps surprisingly, Wet ‘n’ Wild Hawaii isn’t just a tourist attraction, it’s a staple for the locals too - with plenty of islanders getting their thrill-seeking fix on the regular. It lends a charm that’s pretty rare for theme parks. All in all, this is a go-to spot for anyone wanting something a little different and a loooot of fun.

Where to Stay in Oahu

The island of Oahu is a hub of excitement, culture and natural beauty. Living up to its nickname the ‘’Gathering Place’’, the island draws in 10 million visitors each year – and it’s easy to see why! For anyone making their way to this major tourist hotspot for the first time, it can be a little difficult to figure out where would be best to stay. Here at Go City, we don’t enforce the idea that there’s one perfect place – rather, you should pick the spot that best fits your vacation plans. If you’re looking to be in the center of all the action, we recommend staying in Waikiki. For those who want to immerse themselves in nature, Diamond Head would be a great choice. Or, to have a more authentic experience away from all the hustle and bustle, the Windward Coast is an area well set up for vacations. Whichever way you choose to enjoy Oahu, we’re sure you’ll have a blast. For further information, have a read through our list of the top places to stay on the island. Waikiki Boasting beautiful sugar-sand beaches and unbeatable scenery, Oahu really has it all. Planning a trip to the island can be a little daunting, since there’s so much to take in. If you’re looking to stay in the center of all the excitement, we recommend Waikiki for its fantastic resorts and spirited energy. As the most popular place to stay in Oahu, most of the area’s accommodation is located here. Lively and fun, the area has everything to keep you busy. One of the area’s top attractions is, of course, Waikiki Beach. Amongst the various things to do here, you’ll find that snorkelling, surfing, sailing and whale watching are popular choices. As the epicenter of tourism in Hawaii, everything is on your doorstep; the streets are flanked by hundreds of restaurants, cafes, tour centers and convenience stores. Quite like the Las Vegas Strip, the area is well known for its vibrant nightlife – after sunset, Waikiki comes to life with waterside cocktail bars, fine dining and hula shows. Whatever trip you’re planning on having, this place is always a top choice. Diamond Head Though Oahu is quite small, it has many distinct areas catering all different types of travellers. For those looking for a quieter experience in nature, we recommend checking out Diamond Head. Whilst the area is still close to Waikiki, it tends to be less crowded, so you can take some time for yourself. With lots of big parks, relaxed beaches, and of course, the Diamond Head Trail in the vicinity, the area is great for those who are looking to take a break. Whilst the area is a little more low-key than Waikiki, you’ll still have plenty of options when it comes to shopping and dining. Another perk of staying in this particular area is that whilst it's still pretty close to Waikiki, you’ll find that accommodation is much cheaper – win-win! A small, laid-back region, Diamond Head offers the paradisial Hawaiin dream experience for those who like to take it slow. The Windward Coast Those looking to live like the locals will enjoy the Windward Coast for its fascinating culture and unfaltering serenity. Bringing the dreamy postcard picture of the ultimate Hawaiin vacation to life, this area is great for those who want something a little bit more relaxed. With its many beaches and ranches, this place is great for those who want to get in touch with Mother Nature. We recommend checking out the Kualoa Ranch, which has served as a popular filming destination for decades. Upon arrival, you can take Hollywood movie site tours, ziplining classes, or go sailing. If you’re looking to learn more about the background of the Windward Coast, you’ll be in luck - from botanical gardens and bays to lighthouses and temples, you’ll never be bored here. Another benefit of staying here is that it’s just a short drive out from Waikiki, meaning that you’ll never too far from all of the buzz, if you want to partake. Still, since this area isn’t at the center of Oahu’s tourism district, hotel prices tend to be cheaper. Perfect for those who are looking for peace and quiet on vacation, the Windward Coast is the way to go. The North Shore Oahu often conjures up the image of palm tree-fringed beaches and stunning views. If you’re looking to bring the dream to life, then the North Shore is where you’ll want to be. Great for families and solo travellers alike, the area is renowned for its rolling waves and tropical gardens. Base yourself here for nature, great food and a laid-back surfer vibe. Things to do at the North Shore run the gamut - indie galleries, surf shops and Hawaiin lunch spots line the streets. Amongst the various things to do here, you’ll find that snorkelling, cliff jumping, and paddleboarding are super popular. Far out from Waikiki, the North Shore is a world apart from all the hustle and bustle. Since the area is way out from Oahu’s main tourism center, lodging tends to be cheaper here. We recommend going in the summertime since you’ll be able to fully enjoy all the fantastic outdoor activities. Great for those who like to play it cool, the North Shore’s crystal-clear waters and wondrous nature trails and well worth the stay. Forever fun and exhibiting a rare type of natural beauty, Oahu has been a longtime favorite for vacations with friends and family and romantic getaways for generations. From its beautiful beaches to fantastic hiking opportunities, the island has so much to see, do and experience. Trust us when we say that you’ll never be bored here. For awe-inspiring landscapes, vitality, and culture, you couldn’t find anywhere better. And whilst planning a trip can be a little stressful, we promise that it will all be worth it! Best Time to Visit Oahu

Perhaps no other state in America is recognized for its natural beauty in quite the same way as Hawaii. With that said, it's not surprising that Oahu is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the U.S. of A., drawing in over 10 million visitors each year. Known as the ‘’Heart of Hawaii’’, this bustling visitor hotspot presents activities and attractions for every kind of inclination, easily rivalling the likes of New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago. From the island’s beautiful beaches and hiking trails to fantastic cultural amenities and hidden gems, you’ll never run out of interesting things to do here. Trust us when we say that you’ll never regret a trip to Oahu! Still, making your way to a new destination can be a little daunting for some folks – so, you might just be wondering, where do I start? Well, right here of course! If you’re planning a trip to Oahu and aren’t sure about when would be the best time to visit, don’t worry – we've done the heavy lifting for you! Keep scrolling to learn more. November Hawaii is one of the most beautiful places to visit. With its sun-soaked beaches and fantastic cultural attractions, it’s no wonder that Oahu has long served as the epicenter of American tourism. For those who are looking to beat the heat, November is a good choice since it’s after hurricane season. Temperatures should be a little lower around this time of the year, making it a little more comfortable to explore – don't worry though, it’s still warm enough to enjoy most of Oahu’s key outdoor attractions! You might find that there are fewer festivals and events taking place throughout the month, but if comfort is what you’re looking for, this is the time to go. Visiting Oahu during this time of the year is also a good idea since it’s during low season, meaning that the island should be less crowded. During the slowest months of tourism, you should be able to get some great deals for accommodation, dining and airfares. In fact, there are so many benefits to going in November, it’s difficult to list all of them! June Known for its tropical climate and beautiful scenery, Oahu presents a myriad of fantastic outdoor activities for those of all ages. If you’re looking to take advantage of the beautiful weather, we recommend heading over there in June, since you’ll be working with a light breeze, very little rain, and the longest sunshine hours of the year. For sunseekers and adventurous types alike, June is a great choice, since the weather is unlikely to get in your way. A further advantage of visiting the island during this time is that it should be less crowded and chaotic. Also note that June has lower hotel rates and airfare prices, since it’s still pre-peak season. Still, to ensure availability, make sure to book rooms and flights well in advance. Perfect for those looking for the ultimate summertime in Hawaii experience sans all the hustle and bustle, June is the way to go. July – August Bold and beautiful, Oahu is most certainly no wallflower. For those who want to be in the center of all the action, we suggest going during high season – that is, from July through to August. During this time of the year, the weather is at its absolute best, making it perfect for snorkelling and soaking up the sun. Since this is Oahu’s busiest time of the year for tourism, you’ll find a lot of activities and events to check out. From art and film festivals to authentic luaus, this period is good to try almost anything. If you’re a creative type, Honolulu Museum of Arts’s Summer Nights might just be your jam. For cinephiles and lovers of pop culture, we recommend checking out Sunset on the Beach, where you can catch a movie with the wondrous backdrop of the ocean. And for something a little different, Comic-Con Honolulu is the perfect choice. The only downside of visiting from July through to August is that it can be one of the most expensive times of the year, so take that well into consideration before booking. September With its laid-back energy and rich cultural heritage, Oahu is a location with universal appeal. If you’re looking to enjoy the island’s famous tropical weather, we suggest visiting during the month of September. Going into autumn, Hawaiin weather remains fantastic with clear blue skies, warm ocean temperatures, and balmy evenings. The best things to do during the month of September run the gamut – from great nature hikes and historic tours to snorkelling and surfing, the list is pretty much endless. The benefit of travelling during this time of the year is that it will be less crowded. Still, since September runs off from high season, festivals and events are plentiful. Additionally, both airfare and accommodation tend to be cheaper around early autumn. All in all, September is one of the best months of the year to visit, since you’ll get to catch some rays without the hefty price tag. March Never one to blend into the background, Hawaii is characterized by its picturesque scenery and unique cultural background. For those who are attracted to idea of visiting when it's busy, we suggest booking around March. Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast, a culture vulture, or a foodie, you’re sure to find something to suit your tastes. In addition, March is a great time to visit for humpback whale watching, since these majestic creatures migrate to the warmer waters to birth and nurse their young. Those who are drawn to a Hawaiin vacation for the weather will enjoy March for its beautiful sun-filled days. Still, the evenings can get a little chilly – we suggest bringing a light jacket to keep comfortable. Although March is one of the more popular times to visit Oahu, its hotel prices don’t climb above the annual average. Win-win! With its perennial warm weather and palm tree-fringed beaches, one could argue that’s there’s no bad time to visit Oahu. Really, there’s only a time that’s right for you.
