25 Free Things to Do in Orlando

While you might associate Orlando with dizzying attractions that cost a pretty penny, there's plenty of completely gratis fun to be had. Our insiders put together a list of our top free things to do in Orlando. Let's get started!

Orlando

While your trip to Orlando likely includes non-negotiable, pricey attractions like Walt Disney World, there is so much to do and see here that won’t break the bank. From hiking trails to campfire sing-a-longs, here's our edit of the best free things to do in Orlando. It's designed to round out your vacation itinerary (and save your wallet!)

1. Orlando Brewing

portrait-bearded-man-working-brewery-checking

First things first, let's grab a drink. As Orlando’s only certified organic brewery, Orlando Brewing offers a refreshing variety of beers that they distribute to more than 500 different locations throughout Florida. You can also tour their South Downtown Orlando brewing facility for free. It's a great place to tour with friends.

Fun fact: the majority of their beers adhere to the classic German Purity Law for beer, which dictates that beer should be made of only four ingredients – water, yeast, hops, and malted barley.

2. March Of The Ducks

You might have heard of Duck Boat tours in other places across the country, but Orlando has its own tradition involving our quacking, web-footed friends. Since it opened in 1986, the Peabody Orlando has continued the traditional March of The Peabody Ducks every day in unbroken succession. At 11am, five North American mallard ducks – four hens and one drake – descend from a special elevator and then proceed to stride around the lobby, accompanied by John Philip Sousa’s “King Cotton March.”

The march concludes when the ducks plop into a magnificent, orchid-crowned fountain, where they remain for the rest of the day before marching back to the elevator promptly at 5pm. Although this may sound like something at a ticketed circus, it’s completely free.

3. Kraft Azalea Garden

Open year-round on a daily basis, the 5.22-acre Kraft Azalea Garden has a secluded, serene location on the shore of Lake Maitland. That's why many people know it as Winter Park’s secret garden. Although it is sometimes used for sunset wedding ceremonies and other private functions, the beautiful public garden is surrounded by colossal cypress trees that offer plenty of free shade from the hot Florida sun.

4. Lake Eola Park

This popular local attraction is an 80-foot sinkhole-turned-lake. Located in downtown Orlando, it’s the perfect thing to do for an active traveler. Run, jog, or bike along the path that circles the lake. Feed the iconic swans and other birds that populate the park, enjoy the views of the charming flowers, or pack a picnic. It’s a refreshing respite from urban Orlando with over 40 acres to explore.

5. Cornell Fine Arts Museum

Located on the campus of Rollins College, this intimate Winter Park museum boasts an impressive collection of several thousand works of art. You’ll find items from classical antiquity, all the way up to contemporary art movements. The Old European Masters collection is remarkable and is the only collection of its kind in Orlando. Admission to this beautiful art museum is totally free year-round.

6. University of Central Florida Arboretum

If you love visiting botanical gardens or exploring the great outdoors, this well-regarded arboretum should be a must-see on your list. Constructed to contain eight distinct ecosystems, this park features more than 600 different plant species throughout the park’s 80 acres. You can explore the diverse ecosystems on foot, bike around the several trails, or even play a round of disc golf.

7. Walk the galleries at CityArts Factory

Stroll through the six galleries and 8,000 feet of performance space that make up the largest arts center in downtown Orlando. CityArts Factory showcases both local and international works of art. You'll be able to watch some local artists at work in their studios as you walk through this vibrant art haven. Admission is free Tuesday through Saturday from 11am to 6pm. Depending on the events calendar for the Factory, you may also get to enjoy live music, new exhibitions, holiday-themed events, comedy shows among more.

8. FleaWorld

If you’re a bargain hunter, you won’t want to miss a visit to the largest Flea Market in the United States. While you will have to shell out a few dollars for anything you’re interested in buying, admission to the market itself is free. With more than 1,700 vendors hawking their wares, we promise you can find practically everything your heart desires at this diverse Flea Market.

9. Relive history at Fort Christmas

Twenty minutes east of Orlando in Titusville, you'll find Fort Christmas Historical Park, a full-size replica of the original Fort Christmas. The fort was originally built for the Second Seminole Indian War in the mid-1800s. Now the park offers several free events throughout the year like pioneer demonstrations, musket and cannon firings, and craft fairs. The Park is closed on Mondays and holidays.

10. Zora Neale Hurston National Museum of Fine Arts

This museum honors the heritage of one of America’s most iconic African American authors with a diversity of materials and exhibits. Learn all about African and African American culture in the United States and in the diaspora as you trace the development of various artistic movements. You’ll find everything from oil paintings to architectural sculptures and more. Although they don’t charge admission, even a small donation is appreciated.

11. Harry P. Leu Gardens

At the magnificent Leu Gardens, you can explore an incredible 50-acre botanical haven. Located just a few minutes from downtown Orlando, you get to enjoy 3 miles of walkways, butterfly gardens, rose gardens, ancient oak trees, sweet air aroma, and more. Admission is free on the first Monday of every month, so you have to plan your visit time for a chance to see it at no cost. The gardens are also a beautiful place to take photos and even hold a wedding.

12. Disney Springs

disney-springs-hot-air-balloon

Free things to do in Orlando and Disney are not that common. However, at Disney Springs, there are several free and fun things to do at your disposal. You can visit and explore the World of Disney store; an experience that is a world of its own. You can also take your kids for some incredible fun time at the LEGO Imagination Center where they can enjoy free LEGO building stations and a nearby playground. In addition, there are many events at Disney Springs to enjoy throughout the year like the Festival of the Masters.

13. Little Big Econ State forest

Technically, this State forest is not exclusively free because various trailheads around the forest request you to make donations of only $2 per person. However, children under 6 are charged nothing. This venue offers you the true worth of Florida wilderness. You can enjoy hiking on beautiful and scenic nature trails, go mountain biking, bird watching, and spot other wildlife such as river otters, deer, raptors, and bobcats on your way for free.

14. Tibet-Butler Preserve

Tibet-Butler Preserve

If you're looking for a day hike close to Disney World, the Tibet-Butler Preserve is just the ticket (although there's no need for one, seeing as it's free admission!) There are 3.6 miles of trails to explore here and the paths take you on an adventure through different Florida habitats, including pine forests, scrubs, and swamps. On the weekends, there's an EcoSaturdays program - check the website and find out what's going on. Bring good walking shoes and your camera.

15. Lakeridge Winery and Vineyards

Lakeridge Winery and vineyards

Florida’s premier winery receives more than 160,000 visitors annually. It sits atop some breathtaking and gently rolling countryside, offering guests the best of vineyard views. You can get to enjoy free tours of the winery, free tastings, and many free festivals and events. Every day, Lakeridge runs free tours and tastings every 20 minutes or so. They will start you off with a short film about the winery’s history, then take you for a spectacular view of the vines, and wind up the tour in the tasting room.

16. The Town of Celebration

The Town of Celebration is a Disney-made town offering scenic views of striking houses, well-groomed compounds, lush green parks, and the delightful Disney style of living. Admire the unique architecture and atmosphere as the kids play in the interactive fountain. You can also stop by the farmers market on Sundays and even experience (fake) snow falling if you visit during the winter months.

17. Disney’s Boardwalk

We couldn’t post this list without mentioning the charm of Disney’s Boardwalk when looking for free things to do in Orlando. Take your family out on a stroll along the boardwalk, which is a re-creation of a 1930s-style Atlantic coastal village. This quarter-mile venue along Crescent Lake is popular for its nightclubs and a wide range of entertainment options. However, you can get to enjoy street musicians, entertainers, and spectacular water views of Crescent Lake for free.

18. Chip n’ Dale’s campfire sing-a-long

Your family, especially the kids, will surely love this one. Head over to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort for a fun campfire sing-a-long. A classic Disney duo leads the fireside cowboy sing-a-long to delight all ages. As darkness turns in, all participants get treated to a classic Disney movie on a giant screen beneath the Florida stars. Benches to sit on are provided for free so you just need to carry some warm blanket to keep you toasty.

19. Wekiwa Springs State Park

canoes-wekiwa-state-park-florida

Wekiwa Springs offers you the opportunity to relax in a beautiful natural setting, take a swim in the cool spring, enjoy a picnic and more. Each September, the state park honors International Literacy Day by offering free entrance to those who bring their library cards, show a checked-out library book, or donate a book. You will also get to enjoy the nature trails around the park, engage in fishing, campfires, hiking, cycling and explore a nature museum.

20. Enzian Theater

Visit the Enzian Theater during its Popcorn Flicks show (which occurs once per month during the summer) and enjoy a free movie in the company of friends and family. The movie is shown outdoors as stars twinkle above and the warmth of centuries-old live oaks around the property engulfs the area. There is a kitchen and bar for you to grab some food or drinks; both soft and hard. Check the Enzian website beforehand to see what’s playing.

21. Winter Park Farmer's Market

If you love strolling through booths of fine local produce, lovingly handcrafted souvenirs, organic toiletries, and fresh bread, then the Winter Park Farmer's Market is just the place for you. While you will of course need to pay for any purchases, you can simply choose to enjoy this festive place for locals to gather and soak up the energetic vibes. The market is held every Saturday morning from 7 am to 1 pm and is held in a historic train depot.

22. Cocoa Beach Skate Park

If you're traveling with adventure-loving teens who know their way around a skateboard, then head to nearby Cocoa Beach to enjoy their free skate park. It's open every day of the week with extended hours on the weekends and holidays. Please be aware there is no attendant on duty at any time, so all skaters should be careful.

23. The Grand Bohemian Gallery

For art lovers, there's no excuse not to visit the Grand Bohemian Gallery. Located in the Grand Bohemian Hotel in downtown Orlando, this frequently-rotating collection of fine art features both new and traditional artwork. You'll find pieces by internationally renowned artists alongside local favorites, including works such as painting, sculpture, craftwork, drawings, and much more. They also have periodic special events like trunk shows by local jewelry designers. Admission to the gallery is totally free.

24. West Orange Trail

This 22-mile paved biking and hiking trail winds its way from Winter Garden near Walt Disney World to Apopka, to west Orlando city. The majority of the trail has been converted from railroad tracks and passes by a whole bunch of gorgeous green spaces, woodland, and lakesides, ideal for pitching up with a picnic. You can also find many bike rental stores along the route if you haven't got your own.

25. Kelly Park, Rock Springs (small fee)

Kelly Rock Springs

We couldn't resist including this stunning park in our list, even though admission to this gorgeous, 248-acre park comes with a small fee. It’s totally worth the meager price of admission to explore the bounty of flora and fauna that populate the park. There are plenty of opportunities for camping, hiking, observing wildlife, swimming in natural springs, and participating in plenty of fun recreational activities like volleyball, Frisbee, and more. Be sure to pop in the famous Rock Springs to cool off!

Your Ultimate Saturday in Orlando: Fun, Food and Fantastic Memories

Saturdays in Orlando: Unmissable Adventures, Tasty Treats and Sun-Soaked Fun  Here’s the thing about Orlando: it doesn’t do ‘day off.’ You may have come for the theme parks, but stick around and you’ll uncover a city bursting with wild animals, top-tier entertainment, playful museums, splash-tastic pools, and more flavors than you’ll know what to do with. On a Saturday, Orlando cranks up the fun. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker, a wandering foodie, or a laidback explorer, you’ll end the day with tired feet, a happy belly, and a phone full of photos.  What can you expect from an Orlando Saturday? We’ve put together our favorite picks so you can mix-n-match, from sunrise to after-dark. Ready to build your ultimate one-day adventure? Let’s dive in!  Our top things to do on any Orlando Saturday:  Kennedy Space Center  Gatorland  The Orlando Eye  SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium  Madame Tussauds Orlando  WonderWorks  Congo River Adventure Golf  Island H2O Water Park  And more! Gatorland: Where Florida’s Wild Side Steals the Show  After space? Swing your Saturday back to earth—swampy, scaly earth—with a trip to Gatorland. They call it the “Alligator Capital of the World” and if you’re keen on getting close (but not too close) to Florida wildlife, this is a must.  Gatorland is way more than meet-the-alligator. There are gator shows packed with clever trainers, genuine education, and a bit of slapstick. Feeding time is a crowd favorite, especially if you fancy tossing a snack to a 12-foot beast (with a professional nearby, of course). The Screamin’ Gator Zip Line lets you whizz over the chompers below—few photo ops match this.  The park’s lush boardwalks, breeding marsh, and aviary make for a scenic stroll. Plus, there are wild panthers, snakes, and even a splash pad for kids needing to cool down. The ambiance? Old-school fun with a side of quirky Florida charm. Go ahead—snap a pic holding a baby gator for your social feed.  The Orlando Eye: Skyline Views, Big-Spin Vibes  Zoom out for panoramic views: The Orlando Eye (now part of ICON Park) delivers a whole new perspective on the city. Orlando’s skyline stretches out beneath you as you rise in a glass-walled capsule—each revolution takes about 20 minutes, the perfect breather in a busy day.  What's special here is the sense of space and serenity. The capsule is air-conditioned, roomy, and ideal for families, friends, or date nights. Every direction offers something new: spot the downtown towers to the north, theme park spires to the west, and lakes shimmering everywhere you look.  Between rotations, ICON Park buzzes with energy—hit international restaurants, grab a craft ice cream, or take a midday selfie in front of the Eye’s colorful lights. Tip: Day or night, the view’s fantastic, but sunset trips are extra magical as the city glows gold and neon.  Dive Even Deeper at SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium  Orlando may be hours from the ocean, but SEA LIFE brings ocean magic to heart of the city. Step out of the Florida heat and into a world of underwater wonder—think floor-to-ceiling tanks, 360-degree tunnels shrouded in shimmering blue, and all the creatures you ever wanted to see up close.  It’s an aquarium with a mission—SEA LIFE works hard at marine rescue and education, so every exhibit is immersive, engaging, and just a little bit whimsical. Keep an eye out for rescued sea turtles stargazing from the sand, sharks gliding silently overhead, and a colorful parade of jellyfish and seahorses.  For families, the interactivity level is superb: touch tanks for curious hands and friendly guides, always armed with fun facts. The vibe? Relaxed, awe-inspiring and cool (in every sense of the word). It’s a soothing contrast to the city’s outdoor splash, perfect for a midday escape.  Celebrity Selfies and Glam at Madame Tussauds Orlando  Step aside, Hollywood—star power has landed in Orlando at Madame Tussauds. Wander this waxwork wonderland and you’ll find yourself mugging alongside the music world, shaking hands with world leaders, or joining movie icons for a red carpet photo.  We love how interactive the experience is—no “look, don’t touch” stuffy museum rules here. You’re encouraged to pose, laugh, and get creative (tip: bring your silliest selfie game). The atmosphere is playful, the detail in the waxworks are mind-blowing, and every turn brings a fresh, curveball cameo (yes, that’s really Shaq’s shoe size).  If you’ve got a pop culture fan in your group, Madame Tussauds is an absolute treat. The music room is great for Beyoncé dance-offs, superhero zones get everyone striking a pose, and the sports area inspires plenty of friendly competition. Expect giggles and some of your trip’s most memorable snaps.  Congo River Adventure Golf: Mini-Golf Escapades with a Wild Twist  Fancy some friendly competition? Adventure golf at Congo River makes for a fun-paced Saturday break. Each round is packed with lush tropical landscaping, waterfalls, caves, and (fake, thankfully) crocodile-laden rivers.  Here, every hole offers a playful challenge—navigate winding bridges, bank shots off boulders, and conquer tricky slopes. It all adds up to a course that’s creative, laugh-out-loud, and just the right amount of goofy. There’s a scavenger hunt sprinkled throughout, and if you’ve ever wanted to feed live gators (safely, from a distance), here’s your chance.  The staff keeps the mood light and are quick with joke-laden scorecards, making it ideal for families or groups of friends ready for bragging rights or an afternoon wind-down before dinner. There’s even a gem mining station if you want to dig for Orlando treasure!  Island H2O Water Park: Splash, Slide, and Chill  Orlando gets hot—especially on a Saturday! Island H2O Water Park is the place to cool off and amp up the fun. Part water park, part social media playground, it’s chock-full of slides, lazy rivers, wave pools, and techy touches.  What sets Island H2O apart are its interactive wristbands: they let you unlock music, lights, and even customize your ride’s vibe. Race down the multi-lane slides, float serenely along the lazy river, or chill on the sandy beach. Little ones have their own splash zones, while adrenaline-junkies shoot for the boomerang drop and rapid cyclone slides.  The atmosphere is always lively, upbeat and safe—with plenty of shaded cabanas, deck chairs and snack bars stocked with fresh fruit shakes, funnel cakes and more. Hours slip by in a blur of water, laughter, and sunny scenes. A perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon and a guaranteed family favorite.  Start Your Day at Se7en Bites: Breakfast Worth Waking Up For  No great Saturday in Orlando starts on an empty stomach. Make your first stop Se7en Bites, a retro-style bakery-café in the Milk District that locals adore. It’s all sunshine, Formica, and the mouthwatering smell of biscuits baking.  The menu? Southern comfort with modern flair. Standouts include the massive biscuits and savory sausage gravy, pimento cheese-topped chicken biscuit, or (our forever favorite) the signature 7th Trimester Cookie—stuffed with dark chocolate, salted caramel, and pecans. Their “biscuit mountain” may require a napkin—and possibly a nap.  Brunch is buzzy, but the team keeps things moving with smiles and fast coffee refills. The décor mixes colorful tiles and playful diner touches, instantly putting you in a weekend frame of mind. Don’t skip the bakery case—grab a gooey cinnamon roll or dreamy layered cake for later.  Lunch and Local Life at Plant Street Market  When lunchtime rolls around, nothing beats Plant Street Market, just 20 minutes northwest in Winter Garden. This sprawling indoor-outdoor marketplace is bursting with local charm: rows of indie food stalls, family-run butchers, craft beer, fresh flowers, and artisan jewelry. It’s always packed with families and friends lingering over lunch.  Foodies can tuck into everything from wood-fired pizza at Michael’s Ali Coal Fired Pizza, gourmet grilled cheese from MAC’d OUT, and Asian-fusion bites at Jodo Sushi, to Caribbean jerk chicken plates. For a sweet treat, the doughnuts at Sir Benji’s or fresh-pressed juices at Press’d keep things bright and energizing.  Seating spills outdoors where you’ll find live music, friendly pups, and a laid-back crowd enjoying the Florida sun. There’s even a small playground for kids (or adults who act like kids). Bonus: Crooked Can Brewing Company sits within the market, serving up rotating taps of their crowd-favorite brews.  Sunset and Strolls at Ivanhoe Village  Shift gears late afternoon and head to Ivanhoe Village, a quirky Orlando neighborhood just north of downtown. The old industrial vibe comes wrapped in colorful murals, indie shops, and one of the city’s best lakeside walking paths.  You’ll spot locals biking, skating, or lounging under giant mossy oaks as they watch paddleboarders drift across Lake Ivanhoe. Antique lovers will want to dip into Washburn Imports, while foodies and caffeine fiends flock to The Hammered Lamb, which has great cocktails and a funky patio with a front-row view of the lake—and the passing SunRail train.  As the sun sinks, Ivanhoe turns mellow and magical—bar patios buzz, string lights flicker, and live bands provide a playful backdrop. It’s a side of Orlando that surprises visitors: creative, chill, and brimming with personality.  Tastes Worth the Trip: Dinner at The Ravenous Pig  By dinner time, you’ve earned a little indulgence. Head to Winter Park and the much-loved Ravenous Pig—gastropub royalty with atmosphere to match. The dining room is warm and welcoming, with exposed brick, cool pendant lights, and a menu that reads like a love letter to fresh Florida produce.  Choose the house-made charcuterie board to start, followed by their famous Pub Burger (topped with pimento cheese and crispy onions) or whatever’s freshest from the local farms. Drinks shine, too: the seasonal craft cocktails always surprise, but the house-brewed IPA is a winner if you’re a beer lover.  Service is friendly and never fussy—just ask for their daily dessert pick before you’re too full to say yes. Whether you’re with family, friends, or plotting the perfect foodie date, it’s the kind of meal you’ll be raving about long after your Saturday ends.  Stroll Lake Eola Park by Night  Before you call it a night, wind down at Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando. It’s especially pretty at dusk or after dark, when the city skyline twinkles and the swan boats drift gently across the water. The looped walking path is just under a mile, making it perfect for a post-dinner stroll.  Along the way, check out the Walt Disney Amphitheater—all lit up at night. The playground, picnic spots, and public art keep things interesting, and if you time your Saturday just right, you might catch a local festival or concert. End your walk with waterside ice cream from Greenery Creamery or a nightcap at Relax Grill.  Whether you’re chatting, people-watching, or reflecting on your day, Lake Eola adds a peaceful final touch to your active Orlando itinerary.  Late Night Laughs and Tunes at Universal CityWalk  Still not sleepy? Wrap up your Orlando Saturday in Universal’s CityWalk, where the party doesn’t pause until the early hours. The pedestrian zone is bursting with neon, top-notch music, and countless dining and entertainment options.  Comedy fans should snag a seat at The Improv for stand-up shows, while music lovers can catch live sets at Hard Rock Live or slip into the Red Coconut Club for DJ beats and dancing. For a quirky end to the night, sample creative milkshakes at Toothsome Chocolate Emporium or a trio of tacos at Antojitos.  CityWalk’s energy is infectious, and it’s one of the best places in Orlando to eat, play, and people-watch late into Saturday night.  The Perfect Orlando Saturday: Packed, Playful, Unforgettable  There’s simply no way to fit every Orlando adventure into a single Saturday—but with this guide, you’ll hit the highlights, taste the flavors, and still have energy for round two on Sunday. Whether you’re launching rockets, meeting ’gators, splashing, strolling, or eating your way across town, every hour in Orlando promises a new surprise and a fresh reason to come back for more.  So, set your alarm, gather your crew, and get ready for a Saturday that truly soars.    Like this?
