25 Free Things to Do in Orlando

While you might associate Orlando with dizzying attractions that cost a pretty penny, there's plenty of completely gratis fun to be had. Our insiders put together a list of our top free things to do in Orlando. Let's get started!

Orlando

While your trip to Orlando likely includes non-negotiable, pricey attractions like Walt Disney World, there is so much to do and see here that won’t break the bank. From hiking trails to campfire sing-a-longs, here's our edit of the best free things to do in Orlando. It's designed to round out your vacation itinerary (and save your wallet!)

1. Orlando Brewing

portrait-bearded-man-working-brewery-checking

First things first, let's grab a drink. As Orlando’s only certified organic brewery, Orlando Brewing offers a refreshing variety of beers that they distribute to more than 500 different locations throughout Florida. You can also tour their South Downtown Orlando brewing facility for free. It's a great place to tour with friends.

Fun fact: the majority of their beers adhere to the classic German Purity Law for beer, which dictates that beer should be made of only four ingredients – water, yeast, hops, and malted barley.

2. March Of The Ducks

You might have heard of Duck Boat tours in other places across the country, but Orlando has its own tradition involving our quacking, web-footed friends. Since it opened in 1986, the Peabody Orlando has continued the traditional March of The Peabody Ducks every day in unbroken succession. At 11am, five North American mallard ducks – four hens and one drake – descend from a special elevator and then proceed to stride around the lobby, accompanied by John Philip Sousa’s “King Cotton March.”

The march concludes when the ducks plop into a magnificent, orchid-crowned fountain, where they remain for the rest of the day before marching back to the elevator promptly at 5pm. Although this may sound like something at a ticketed circus, it’s completely free.

3. Kraft Azalea Garden

Open year-round on a daily basis, the 5.22-acre Kraft Azalea Garden has a secluded, serene location on the shore of Lake Maitland. That's why many people know it as Winter Park’s secret garden. Although it is sometimes used for sunset wedding ceremonies and other private functions, the beautiful public garden is surrounded by colossal cypress trees that offer plenty of free shade from the hot Florida sun.

4. Lake Eola Park

This popular local attraction is an 80-foot sinkhole-turned-lake. Located in downtown Orlando, it’s the perfect thing to do for an active traveler. Run, jog, or bike along the path that circles the lake. Feed the iconic swans and other birds that populate the park, enjoy the views of the charming flowers, or pack a picnic. It’s a refreshing respite from urban Orlando with over 40 acres to explore.

5. Cornell Fine Arts Museum

Located on the campus of Rollins College, this intimate Winter Park museum boasts an impressive collection of several thousand works of art. You’ll find items from classical antiquity, all the way up to contemporary art movements. The Old European Masters collection is remarkable and is the only collection of its kind in Orlando. Admission to this beautiful art museum is totally free year-round.

6. University of Central Florida Arboretum

If you love visiting botanical gardens or exploring the great outdoors, this well-regarded arboretum should be a must-see on your list. Constructed to contain eight distinct ecosystems, this park features more than 600 different plant species throughout the park’s 80 acres. You can explore the diverse ecosystems on foot, bike around the several trails, or even play a round of disc golf.

7. Walk the galleries at CityArts Factory

Stroll through the six galleries and 8,000 feet of performance space that make up the largest arts center in downtown Orlando. CityArts Factory showcases both local and international works of art. You'll be able to watch some local artists at work in their studios as you walk through this vibrant art haven. Admission is free Tuesday through Saturday from 11am to 6pm. Depending on the events calendar for the Factory, you may also get to enjoy live music, new exhibitions, holiday-themed events, comedy shows among more.

8. FleaWorld

If you’re a bargain hunter, you won’t want to miss a visit to the largest Flea Market in the United States. While you will have to shell out a few dollars for anything you’re interested in buying, admission to the market itself is free. With more than 1,700 vendors hawking their wares, we promise you can find practically everything your heart desires at this diverse Flea Market.

9. Relive history at Fort Christmas

Twenty minutes east of Orlando in Titusville, you'll find Fort Christmas Historical Park, a full-size replica of the original Fort Christmas. The fort was originally built for the Second Seminole Indian War in the mid-1800s. Now the park offers several free events throughout the year like pioneer demonstrations, musket and cannon firings, and craft fairs. The Park is closed on Mondays and holidays.

10. Zora Neale Hurston National Museum of Fine Arts

This museum honors the heritage of one of America’s most iconic African American authors with a diversity of materials and exhibits. Learn all about African and African American culture in the United States and in the diaspora as you trace the development of various artistic movements. You’ll find everything from oil paintings to architectural sculptures and more. Although they don’t charge admission, even a small donation is appreciated.

11. Harry P. Leu Gardens

At the magnificent Leu Gardens, you can explore an incredible 50-acre botanical haven. Located just a few minutes from downtown Orlando, you get to enjoy 3 miles of walkways, butterfly gardens, rose gardens, ancient oak trees, sweet air aroma, and more. Admission is free on the first Monday of every month, so you have to plan your visit time for a chance to see it at no cost. The gardens are also a beautiful place to take photos and even hold a wedding.

12. Disney Springs

Free things to do in Orlando and Disney are not that common. However, at Disney Springs, there are several free and fun things to do at your disposal. You can visit and explore the World of Disney store; an experience that is a world of its own. You can also take your kids for some incredible fun time at the LEGO Imagination Center where they can enjoy free LEGO building stations and a nearby playground. In addition, there are many events at Disney Springs to enjoy throughout the year like the Festival of the Masters.

13. Little Big Econ State forest

Technically, this State forest is not exclusively free because various trailheads around the forest request you to make donations of only $2 per person. However, children under 6 are charged nothing. This venue offers you the true worth of Florida wilderness. You can enjoy hiking on beautiful and scenic nature trails, go mountain biking, bird watching, and spot other wildlife such as river otters, deer, raptors, and bobcats on your way for free.

14. Tibet-Butler Preserve

Tibet-Butler Preserve

If you're looking for a day hike close to Disney World, the Tibet-Butler Preserve is just the ticket (although there's no need for one, seeing as it's free admission!) There are 3.6 miles of trails to explore here and the paths take you on an adventure through different Florida habitats, including pine forests, scrubs, and swamps. On the weekends, there's an EcoSaturdays program - check the website and find out what's going on. Bring good walking shoes and your camera.

15. Lakeridge Winery and Vineyards

Lakeridge Winery and vineyards

Florida’s premier winery receives more than 160,000 visitors annually. It sits atop some breathtaking and gently rolling countryside, offering guests the best of vineyard views. You can get to enjoy free tours of the winery, free tastings, and many free festivals and events. Every day, Lakeridge runs free tours and tastings every 20 minutes or so. They will start you off with a short film about the winery’s history, then take you for a spectacular view of the vines, and wind up the tour in the tasting room.

16. The Town of Celebration

The Town of Celebration is a Disney-made town offering scenic views of striking houses, well-groomed compounds, lush green parks, and the delightful Disney style of living. Admire the unique architecture and atmosphere as the kids play in the interactive fountain. You can also stop by the farmers market on Sundays and even experience (fake) snow falling if you visit during the winter months.

17. Disney’s Boardwalk

We couldn’t post this list without mentioning the charm of Disney’s Boardwalk when looking for free things to do in Orlando. Take your family out on a stroll along the boardwalk, which is a re-creation of a 1930s-style Atlantic coastal village. This quarter-mile venue along Crescent Lake is popular for its nightclubs and a wide range of entertainment options. However, you can get to enjoy street musicians, entertainers, and spectacular water views of Crescent Lake for free.

18. Chip n’ Dale’s campfire sing-a-long

Your family, especially the kids, will surely love this one. Head over to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort for a fun campfire sing-a-long. A classic Disney duo leads the fireside cowboy sing-a-long to delight all ages. As darkness turns in, all participants get treated to a classic Disney movie on a giant screen beneath the Florida stars. Benches to sit on are provided for free so you just need to carry some warm blanket to keep you toasty.

19. Wekiwa Springs State Park

canoes-wekiwa-state-park-florida

Wekiwa Springs offers you the opportunity to relax in a beautiful natural setting, take a swim in the cool spring, enjoy a picnic and more. Each September, the state park honors International Literacy Day by offering free entrance to those who bring their library cards, show a checked-out library book, or donate a book. You will also get to enjoy the nature trails around the park, engage in fishing, campfires, hiking, cycling and explore a nature museum.

20. Enzian Theater

Visit the Enzian Theater during its Popcorn Flicks show (which occurs once per month during the summer) and enjoy a free movie in the company of friends and family. The movie is shown outdoors as stars twinkle above and the warmth of centuries-old live oaks around the property engulfs the area. There is a kitchen and bar for you to grab some food or drinks; both soft and hard. Check the Enzian website beforehand to see what’s playing.

21. Winter Park Farmer's Market

If you love strolling through booths of fine local produce, lovingly handcrafted souvenirs, organic toiletries, and fresh bread, then the Winter Park Farmer's Market is just the place for you. While you will of course need to pay for any purchases, you can simply choose to enjoy this festive place for locals to gather and soak up the energetic vibes. The market is held every Saturday morning from 7 am to 1 pm and is held in a historic train depot.

22. Cocoa Beach Skate Park

If you're traveling with adventure-loving teens who know their way around a skateboard, then head to nearby Cocoa Beach to enjoy their free skate park. It's open every day of the week with extended hours on the weekends and holidays. Please be aware there is no attendant on duty at any time, so all skaters should be careful.

23. The Grand Bohemian Gallery

For art lovers, there's no excuse not to visit the Grand Bohemian Gallery. Located in the Grand Bohemian Hotel in downtown Orlando, this frequently-rotating collection of fine art features both new and traditional artwork. You'll find pieces by internationally renowned artists alongside local favorites, including works such as painting, sculpture, craftwork, drawings, and much more. They also have periodic special events like trunk shows by local jewelry designers. Admission to the gallery is totally free.

24. West Orange Trail

This 22-mile paved biking and hiking trail winds its way from Winter Garden near Walt Disney World to Apopka, to west Orlando city. The majority of the trail has been converted from railroad tracks and passes by a whole bunch of gorgeous green spaces, woodland, and lakesides, ideal for pitching up with a picnic. You can also find many bike rental stores along the route if you haven't got your own.

25. Kelly Park, Rock Springs (small fee)

Kelly Rock Springs

We couldn't resist including this stunning park in our list, even though admission to this gorgeous, 248-acre park comes with a small fee. It’s totally worth the meager price of admission to explore the bounty of flora and fauna that populate the park. There are plenty of opportunities for camping, hiking, observing wildlife, swimming in natural springs, and participating in plenty of fun recreational activities like volleyball, Frisbee, and more. Be sure to pop in the famous Rock Springs to cool off!

Orlando’s Top Spots to Sit Back and Watch the World

Orlando’s magic isn’t just in its world-famous attractions and endless sunshine—it’s in the people. This city buzzes with visitors from every continent, costumed characters, food truck philosophers and sidewalk musicians, all swapping stories under swaying palms. We think there’s no better way to get a sense of the city than by relaxing and letting the world stroll by. From café tables to theme park plazas, we’ve found the top spots for people watching in Orlando—where the city’s vivid personality is always on full display. Grab your coffee, park yourself somewhere comfy, and settle in—it’s showtime, Orlando style.  Our favorite people watching spots in Orlando include:  Lake Eola Park  ICON Park  Disney Springs  Universal CityWalk  Wall Street Plaza  Park Avenue, Winter Park  East End Market  Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts Plaza  Fun Spot America  College Park  ICON Park  ICON Park is where worlds collide: international tourists clutching selfie sticks, birthday parties surging toward sugar-laden treats, and Instagrammers staging the perfect shot beneath the MASSIVE observation wheel. You can grab a table at a patio café and sink into the ever-shifting parade: all ages, all styles, laughing, posing, or just savoring the sunshine. The energy at ICON Park is infectious—think street performers, bustling bars, and spontaneous dance parties erupting after hours.  We recommend people watching with a milkshake from Sugar Factory (their rainbow unicorn creation gets plenty of stares) or a gelato from iCafe de Paris, stationed at your patio post. If you visit at night, the Orlando Eye glows in every color, so the crowd gets extra playful—families snapping photos, couples sharing a ride, and friends daring each other to try the upside-down rides. If you’re in the mood for a slightly quirkier scene, pop into Madame Tussauds or the Museum of Illusions and keep your people-watcher’s eye peeled for selfie pros and gigglers. The elaborate setups are sometimes funnier than the illusions themselves!  Disney Springs  Picture this: dancing fountains spouting in time to jazz, a stage with kids breaking out their best TikTok moves, and a buzzing collection of shoppers, foodies, and, yes, a healthy number of mouse ears. Disney Springs is pure delight for those who want to soak in a carnival atmosphere—no theme park ticket required. Every pathway has a different scene: splurging shoppers sporting fresh Minnie Ears, magicians drawing crowds, solo park-goers poring over maps, and kids racing for a taste of freshly made fudge.  Street musicians keep toes tapping, balloon artists create instant smiles, and the live music spilling out of House of Blues or Raglan Road Irish Pub might tempt you up for a jig. For maximum people-watching, grab an outdoor seat at The BOATHOUSE (try their sliders) or split a sample flight at Wine Bar George. If it’s snacks you’re after, nothing beats a scoop from Salt & Straw or a loaded cookie from Gideon’s Bakehouse—with an added dash of “wow” as you watch the line snake out the door. The sun setting over the water simply stirs even more magic, making Disney Springs a scene you’ll want to linger in.  Universal CityWalk  Universal CityWalk crackles with energy—especially as the parks empty out and the crowds pour in, looking for dinner, drinks and dancing. The people-watching here is particularly fun because the crowd is so mixed: theme park fans in Minion T-shirts, Harry Potter devotees with Hogwarts scarves (even in summer!), and bachelor and bachelorette parties ready to dance the night away.  Claim a table at Pat O’Brien’s outdoor courtyard for some live piano with your hurricane cocktail, or sit along the water near Vivo Italian Kitchen for prime views of CityWalk’s neon-lit parade. Movie lovers may spot guests reenacting their favorite Potter scenes outside the Universal Store, while others try to nail that perfect group selfie by the dazzling Hard Rock Café guitar. If you’re lucky, the crowd will spill over into a spontaneous conga line—hey, this is CityWalk! As the evening progresses, local musicians heat up the plaza, giving everyone a reason to stay, people-watch, and groove a little longer. The energy here just builds and builds.  Wall Street Plaza  When you want to feel Orlando’s true local energy, look no further than Wall Street Plaza. This block-long cluster of bars and outdoor tables is downtown’s top spot for after-work celebrations, weekend bashes, and high-spirited watch parties (especially when Orlando City soccer lights up the screens).  Choose an outdoor seat at Cantina, Hooch, or The Hen House, and you’ll catch a patchwork crowd rolling through: young professionals winding down, groups in sequined outfits for theme nights, regulars showing off their newest pups, and plenty of out-of-towners looking up to take in the festival lights and murals. Wall Street Plaza is legendary for its block parties—you might step into a foam party one weekend or salsa dancers under the stars the next. Never dull, always festive, and with some of the best people watching in downtown Orlando. Don’t skip the loaded nachos or frozen margaritas for the full effect.  East End Market  An indoor-outdoor food hall and community space in the Audubon Park neighborhood, East End Market is where Orlando’s most creative culinary minds, plant lovers, and craftspeople gather. If you want to see Orlando’s foodie scene in action, grab a table with a view of the courtyard garden, sip a single-origin coffee from Lineage, and watch the neighborhood drift in. You’ll see families lining up for Korean buns, friends hunting for vegan candy, and amateurs angling for the perfect photo of their artisan cheese boards.  Live music or pop-up chef events add even more color to the scene—one minute it’s a jazz trio, next it’s a local bread baking demo, then a group assembling flower crowns for a wedding. The friendly vendors behind the stands are fun to chat with, and their regulars add some quirky spice to the crowd. For a signature bite, try the DOMU ramen or a cookie from Gideon’s (the original location, a true Orlando legend). At East End Market, the blend of flavors is matched only by the variety of faces you’ll spot between sips and bites.  Dr. Phillips Center Plaza  Orlando’s cutting-edge performing arts hub also boasts one of the city’s best urban plazas for people watching. Before and after each show, a parade of well-dressed ticket holders surges out onto the wide plaza, mingling with downtown workers, skateboarders, and selfie-taking concert-goers. Families spill out of matinees, food trucks might set up for special events, and on weekends you can catch everything from swing dance classes to pop-up yoga.  We recommend stopping by during a free outdoor concert or festival—there’s often live music and dancing under the stars, drawing a wonderfully varied crowd. Outside show hours, this is a lovely spot to laze with a coffee from the Green Room Lounge, soaking up the city’s creative buzz. Bonus: The sweeping modern architecture makes the entire space feel festive, inviting, and downright photogenic.  Fun Spot America  Nothing opens up a people-watching goldmine quite like a classic amusement park, and Fun Spot America brings all the old-school fairground energy you could ever want. People come here to ride roller coasters, race go-karts, and scream through the swings, but it’s the characters you see in between that really set the scene. Multigenerational families bond over funnel cakes, teens dare each other to try wild rides, and thrill-seekers psych themselves up before bungee jumping.  This park is a must-love Orlando spot for watching locals and visitors unite in pure, unfiltered joy. You can grab a tray of loaded nachos or fried Oreos, claim a picnic table, and just watch it all unfold: kids seeing the SkyCoaster for the first time, friends matching shirts for the photo booth, and grownups gleefully reliving childhood. When the sun sets and the neon lights come on, the energy fires up even more—every laugh and squeal feels bigger, brighter, and completely contagious. Fun Spot proves people watching is a family spectator sport.  College Park  Craving a taste of old-meets-new Orlando? Head to College Park, just northwest of downtown. This neighborhood blends charming bungalow homes with cool indie shops, hip brunch spots, and a mix of longtime locals and young creatives. Edgewater Drive is College Park’s hub, with eateries and coffee shops spilling out onto the sidewalks and drawing a diverse, friendly crowd.  Try a table at Credo for small-batch coffee, or brunch at Shakers American Café, famous for their cinnamon French toast and vintage vibes. You’ll spot joggers, cyclists, groups of friends on rental scooters, and shoppers storming the local record store. Window seats here practically beg you to settle in and time-travel—there’s enough foot traffic to keep things interesting, but none of the theme park rush. On weekend mornings, the local farmers’ market adds a wave of fresh faces, artists, and pups in sunny bowties. College Park is relaxed, neighborly, and the ideal place to unwind while slipping into Orlando’s everyday rhythm.    The secret to understanding Orlando isn’t just in the shows or roller coasters—it’s in its people. Whatever your vibe—park bench daydreamer, patio snacker, street music fan—there’s a perfect perch to soak in the city’s soul. Our list covers everything from high-energy amusement parks to historic streets and food halls. Wherever you plant yourself, Orlando’s always ready to put on a show. Grab a seat, watch the parade, and see why people watching here is pure entertainment.    Like this? Check out our guide to magnificent mornings in Orlando, and why not explore the fascinating Museum of Illusions?  Step up your sightseeing with Go City®  We make it easy to explore the best a city has to offer. We’re talking top attractions, hidden gems and local tours, all for one low price. Discover Windermere: Your Guide to Orlando’s Best Kept Secret

Where local charm meets lakeside beauty: explore Windermere!  So you’re staying in Orlando and looking for a quick escape from the excitement of theme parks, neon lights, and nonstop action. Where do Orlando natives go when they need a relaxing afternoon or a spot of scenic adventure? Head to Windermere—a picturesque town perched between glittering lakes, known for its leafy avenues, waterfront parks, storybook homes, and a sense of peace that feels miles away from the bustling city, even though it’s just a 20-minute drive away.  Windermere’s magic is all about small-town elegance blended with Florida’s unique outdoorsy spirit. From paddleboarding on Lake Down to snagging an espresso in a century-old general store, this is where you get to see a more authentic, local side of Central Florida. It's a gentle invitation to slow down, breathe deep, and soak up a slightly more sophisticated, laid-back kind of fun. Plus, you’re only a hop from Orlando’s world-famous experiences, so you can pair peaceful afternoons with epic attractions.  Ready to plan your perfect day in Windermere? Here’s what we love most:  Our top things to do in Windermere:  Stroll downtown Windermere's brick-lined streets  Paddle or kayak on the Butler Chain of Lakes  Experience The Orlando Eye for panoramic views  Enjoy a meal at Dixie Cream Café  Stroll through Windermere Farmers Market  Tee off at Isleworth Golf & Country Club  Explore Tibet-Butler Nature Preserve  Treat the family at Fun Spot America  Relax at Palmer Park and enjoy lakeside sunsets  Let’s dive into each experience and show you why Windermere is unmissable:  Stroll downtown Windermere's brick-lined streets  If you’ve been zipping between Orlando’s mega-attractions, Windermere’s historic downtown is a breath of fresh, oak-shaded air. Everything here feels just a bit slower in the nicest way possible. Flower baskets hang from lampposts, Southern-style front porches invite conversation, and the rhythm of life is set by coffee sipping, neighborly chats, and the occasional golf cart cruising by.  Start at the charming Town Hall, an old wooden building that looks like it belongs in a movie set. The walkable main drag, lined with vintage brick roads, is dotted with locally owned cafes, indie boutiques, and a general store that has stood for over a century. There’s an irresistible sense of nostalgia—a reminder of days before big-box retailers and traffic jams.  Wander without a goal and you’ll spot hidden gems: whimsical garden sculptures, cheerful window boxes, and even a secluded butterfly garden. On the weekends, there’s often live music drifting from the park, and the local bakery tempts with fresh cinnamon rolls. This is a place to pause, people-watch, and really appreciate the Florida sun filtering through century-old oaks. If you’re keen to see a slice of true Central Florida community, Windermere’s downtown will charm you.  Experience The Orlando Eye for panoramic city views  A quick jaunt from Windermere (and absolutely worth the side trip), The Orlando Eye towers above International Drive and serves up heart-stopping, 360-degree views from its climate-controlled capsules. We love how it gives you a whole new perspective on Central Florida—suddenly the world’s theme-park capital becomes a patchwork of sparkling lakes, leafy neighborhoods, and distant towers fading into swamps and forests beyond.  The Eye ride is smooth and surprisingly serene; you’ll spot the lakes of Windermere in one direction and the castles of Disney in another. On a clear day, you can even pick out rocket launches on the coast! The vibe here isn’t frenetic, despite the sky-high experience. Instead, it feels like the perfect family treat or a romantic backdrop for a sunset proposal.  In the base building below, you’ll find restaurants, a SEA LIFE Aquarium, and wax wonders at Madame Tussauds—all good options for a breezy afternoon if you want to mix a little excitement with your lakeside calm. Just remember: cameras at the ready—you’ll want to capture that Florida skyline from the clouds.  Enjoy a meal at Dixie Cream Café  Windermere’s culinary scene delivers plenty of options, but if you ask a local where they take out-of-towners, Dixie Cream Café will almost always top the list. Perched right in the heart of downtown, this spot boasts an inviting wraparound porch, cheerful staff, and Southern comfort food that’s equal parts classic and creative.  Breakfast here is something of a ritual. Dig into made-from-scratch biscuits piled high, fluffy omelets with garden-fresh veggies, and pancakes that arrive big enough for the table to share. The Southern Benedict—a twist on the classic featuring fried green tomatoes and a rich hollandaise—comes highly recommended. For lunch or brunch, locals love their pimento cheese grilled sandwich and the chicken and waffles, all washed down with sweet tea or locally roasted coffee.  Ambience-wise, Dixie Cream exudes that Southern hospitality you hope for: mismatched chairs, vintage knick-knacks, and family-style tables where laughter carries through the room. Weekends get busy, but there’s no rush—just settle in and plan your next Windermere adventure while enjoying the small-town, big-flavor magic.  Stroll through Windermere Farmers Market  Fresh fruit, local cheese, honey, and the friendly chatter of neighbors—that’s what you’ll find at Windermere Farmers Market every Friday morning in the heart of town. The market brings together the best of Central Florida’s fields, bakeries, and artisan producers, all under the shade of giant live oaks. Kids and dogs are welcome, and as you browse booths overflowing with strawberries or sunflowers, you’ll see why this market is such a community favorite.  Special touches abound: one week you’ll spot a local potter spinning a new vase, the next there’s live music or a food truck serving Cuban coffee. Highlights include just-picked blueberries, house-made jams and salsas, and fresh-baked croissants that sell out fast. It’s easy to eat your way through the market with samples, then pick up supplies for a lakefront picnic.  Visiting the market is about more than shopping—it’s a great way to meet locals, hear the latest updates, and feel a genuine sense of village life. Even if you’re just in town for a few days, you’ll find yourself welcomed like a regular.  Tee off at Isleworth Golf & Country Club  Love a spot of golf? You’ve landed in the right place. Isleworth Golf & Country Club is a nationally renowned course that attracts everyone from PGA champions to celebrity players—and for good reason! Designed by Arnold Palmer, its 18 holes wind through rolling woodland, lakes, and sculpted greens that challenge pros but welcome novices too.  This is not just a golf club, it’s a full lifestyle destination. Clubhouse facilities offer post-round cocktails overlooking the water, with menus boasting everything from chilled shrimp to perfectly prepped steaks. Service is attentive, the grounds pristine, and the pace as relaxed or competitive as you choose.  You may spot a few famous faces on the green—it’s known as the course of choice for Orlando’s professional athletes and has hosted numerous high-profile tournaments. Even if your handicap isn’t tour level, you’ll feel like royalty from the moment you drive through the immaculately landscaped gates. Reserve a tee time well in advance—demand is high, and the experience is unforgettable!  Explore Tibet-Butler Nature Preserve  Just east of downtown Windermere sits one of Central Florida’s true natural treasures—Tibet-Butler Nature Preserve. Here, trails meander for miles under old-growth trees, past marshes teeming with birds, and through butterfly gardens buzzing with color. Bring the family (including leashed pups), lace up your walking shoes, and get ready to reconnect with nature.  The preserve’s educational center is a bonus for anyone curious about Florida ecology or traveling with budding naturalists. Hands-on exhibits explain local habitats and highlight everything from resident owls to rare plants. Early risers are treated to a peaceful, shaded walk where you might spot deer, armadillos, and, if you’re lucky, an otter or two.  Trails loop past Lake Tibet, offering beautiful water views and a chance to spot herons and turtles basking in the sunshine. Picnic tables near the trailheads make it easy to pack a lunch and refuel. If the parks outside Orlando sometimes feel too crowded, Tibet-Butler is your chance to unwind and savor Florida as it was meant to be—wild, serene, and wonderfully green.  Relax at Palmer Park and enjoy lakeside sunsets  No visit to Windermere is complete without a stroll or a moment’s pause at Palmer Park. This beloved green space offers direct access to Lake Butler and frames one of Central Florida’s most spectacular sunset views. Locals gather here for picnics, riverside reading, dog walks, and the timeless pleasure of watching the sky turn a thousand shades of pink and gold.  The park’s vibe is inviting and sociable, but never crowded. Kids play under the trees as boats drift by, while joggers wind their way along the shore path. Benches line the water’s edge, so you’ll always find a perfect spot to sit with a coffee or an ice cream. Evening brings a soft hush and beautiful light that makes even everyday moments feel special.  If you’re a photographer or simply a fan of beautiful places, Palmer Park is the spot to end your Windermere adventure on a high note. Bring a blanket, a snack, or just your favorite people—and let time slow down as you watch the world fade into evening.    Like this? Curious? Let’s dive into Orlando’s best-kept secret.  Our favorite things to do in Lake Nona include:  Boxi Park  Lake Nona Sculpture Garden  Nona Adventure Park  The Beacon & Code Wall  Heroes Community Park  Chroma Modern Bar + Kitchen  Gatorland  Island H2O Water Park  Glasshouse Coffee & Wine Bar  Boxi Park: Eats, Beats, and Family Fun  Start your Lake Nona adventure at Boxi Park, a mash-up of urban eats, live tunes, and outdoor play—all crafted from shipping containers. Boxi Park sets out to be Orlando’s coolest hangout and totally pulls it off. Wander between shipping container kitchens, where you can grab everything from lobster rolls to tacos. The open-air setting feels like a casual backyard party—only with professional chefs, craft beer, and swings at the bar.  Live music is the backbone here; weekends mean concerts, family movie nights, and pop-up festivals. Little ones let loose at the playground and splash zone (warning: spontaneous water wars may occur). Sports fans stake out space at the sand volleyball courts, while dog lovers find plenty of bowls and shady spots for furry friends.  What makes Boxi Park truly shine? It’s the vibe. Everyone’s welcome—families, couples, friend groups, solo explorers. The lawns and picnic tables invite you to chill with a drink and relax, while the bustling events calendar keeps things fun well into the evening. Whether you come for a gourmet burger or an outdoor concert, you’ll leave feeling part of the community.  Boxi Park sits right at the Lake Nona Town Center, so you’re always a quick stroll from other neighborhood highlights. It’s that perfect blend of local flavor and big city excitement.  Nona Adventure Park: Action on Water (and Above It!)  Craving a thrill? Nona Adventure Park delivers, and then some. This inland water playground is where your inner adventurer gets to shine—whether you’re old hat at wakeboarding or just looking for a wild day out with friends.  The star of the show is the cable wakeboarding park, allowing you to glide across the water with no boat (or experience) needed. Pro instructors get you started, and before you know it, you’re carving wakes and slicing through the Florida sunshine.  On land, the action keeps rolling. The oversized inflatable aqua park is a floating ninja course: run, leap, and slip your way past climbing walls, trampolines, and monkey bars. It’s a blast for families or groups who want more from a day on the water. The ropes course—with three stories of obstacles, sky bridges, and zip lines—brings on the adrenaline. Younger adventurers thrive on the kid-friendly, lower levels, and grown-ups find themselves challenged at the top.  Picnic tables, shady spots, and snack bars make it easy to chill between course runs, while lakefront views invite you to kick back and catch your breath. We love how Nona Adventure Park makes you feel like a champion—whether you’re clearing the big jump or just nailing a new trick on the floats.  The Beacon and Code Wall: Where Light Meets Art  Lake Nona fuses tech, art, and creative energy like nowhere else in Orlando, and the Beacon & Code Wall are perfect proof. These two contemporary installations serve as the Town Center’s signature landmarks—and deliver an “only in Lake Nona” moment, especially after sunset.  The Beacon is a stunning six-story, tornado-shaped tower wrapped in LED lighting and vivid murals. Come by at dusk and watch as digital animations swirl across its surface in sync with original music. Sitting beside the Beacon is the Code Wall, a glowing puzzle of glass and lights embedded with binary code. It’s playful and mysterious, designed to spark kids’ curiosity and set Instagrammers snapping away.  The space around the Beacon comes alive at night, drawing couples, families, and photographers who soak in the energy. We recommend grabbing a seat in the central plaza, picking up a treat from a nearby dessert shop, and letting the digital art put you in a futuristic state of mind. Whether you’re an art buff or tech geek (or just appreciate cool urban design), this is a Lake Nona must-see.  Heroes Community Park: Easy Escape for Outdoor Lovers  Lake Nona knows how to do green spaces, and Heroes Community Park ranks high on the local leader board. If you want to slow your roll, shake off jet lag, or keep the whole crew happily entertained, this community park delivers.  Miles of walking and running trails wind through scenic wetlands and wide-open lawns, inviting you to cycle, jog, or simply stroll at your own pace. There are soccer fields, basketball courts, and shaded playgrounds—so everyone gets a chance to burn off steam. Sunrise and sunset are especially gorgeous here; bring your camera for pastel skies reflected in the lakes.  Locals flock here for yoga on the grass or weekend games. Dogs and kids have their own play zones, while adults find picnic tables and gazebos for shaded chilling. What we love most? The tranquil vibe. Even when busy, the park somehow remains relaxing—an easy antidote to theme-park crowds.  Heroes Community Park sits a short hop from restaurants and coffee shops, so you can combine fresh air with your next foodie fix.  Chroma Modern Bar + Kitchen: Modern Flavors, Killer Cocktails  Hungry? Chroma Modern Bar + Kitchen is one of Lake Nona’s hottest dining tickets. Serving up “shareable plates with a twist,” Chroma draws locals and travelers with its welcoming style, creative menus, and buzzy ambiance.  The space drips with cool: industrial beams, soaring ceilings, a lively open kitchen, and cozy booths all around. Large glass walls slide open to a sunny patio, perfect for people-watching with your crew. Inside or out, it’s always bustling and friendly, making you feel like you’re in the center of the action.  Chroma’s kitchen specializes in global flavors—think charred octopus with tangy citrus aioli, crispy Brussels sprouts, and the must-order pork belly bao buns. For true foodies, the chef’s seasonal specialties always impress. The drinks menu is equally memorable, from craft Old Fashioneds to creative gin cocktails and mocktail mixes infused with local herbs.  Perfect for happy hour, dinner with friends, or a romantic lakefront meal, Chroma’s stylish yet laid-back setting makes every bite feel special. If you love a place where big flavors and conversation are equally encouraged, don’t miss it.  Island H2O Water Park: Splash-Tastic Day Out  If you crave water slides, lazy rivers, and sun-drenched chill time, make a splash at Island H2O Water Park. Located a short drive from Lake Nona, this tech-forward water park combines new-school thrills with classic summer fun.  What’s unique about Island H2O is the way it blends the digital and physical. Wristband-activated rides let you personalize music and light effects on the slides, and friendly competition comes alive via social media stations placed throughout the park. Your wildest moments can be captured and shared with just a tap—perfect for water-loving Gen Zers, families, or anyone aiming to one-up their last vacation post.  But the old-school fun delivers too: massive wave pools, floating rivers, tube body slides, and splash zones for tiny swimmers. Cabanas and shaded lounges make it easy for grown-ups to relax with snacks or cold drinks in hand. The on-site dining features burgers, tropical drinks, and summertime favorites, ensuring no one swims on an empty stomach.  Island H2O’s festive, social vibe and next-level attractions make it a hit with all ages—especially when Orlando’s weather gets steamy. Just remember the sunscreen!  Glasshouse Coffee & Wine Bar: Sips and Scenic Views  Need to refuel? Glasshouse Coffee & Wine Bar sits at the heart of Lake Nona and is the neighborhood’s hub for calm mornings and lively evenings. The glass-walled café welcomes you with greenery, sunbeams, and plenty of cozy nooks—the perfect hideaway for catching up with friends or just people-watching solo.  Come by in the morning for expertly poured espresso drinks and creative pastries. Signature pours like the house vanilla latte or seasonal cold brew deliver your caffeine fix—and the avocado toast (with zesty chili flakes and microgreens) is the breakfast favorite. As the day rolls on, the mood shifts; servers swap coffee for local wine flights and small plates.  In the evenings, Glasshouse transforms into a chic urban wine bar, with sharing boards heaped with cheese, charcuterie, and Mediterranean dips. Outdoor tables overlook the Lake Nona Town Center—they’re ideal for winding down after sightseeing or catching a local live music set. The lush, leafy décor—think trailing plants and clean wooden accents—keeps things fresh and photo-ready.  Whether you pop by for a morning pick-me-up or settle in for a nightcap with friends, Glasshouse roots you squarely in Lake Nona’s relaxed, contemporary charm.    Like this? Check out our guide to magnificent mornings in Orlando, and discover brilliant birthdays in the city.  Step up your sightseeing with Go City®  We make it easy to explore the best a city has to offer. We’re talking top attractions, hidden gems and local tours, all for one low price.
