There are hundreds of things to do in Orlando during the wintertime. The city doesn’t typically slow down throughout this time of the year – far from it, actually. Compared to northern states, Orlando’s wintertime is pretty mild, thanks to its subtropical climate. Because of this, February is a great time to visit – the weather is more bearable, there are fewer crowds, and great deals to take full advantage of. Whether you’re looking to check out the theme parks, visit the museums, or take some time off at the farmers’ market, you’re sure to find something to suit your tastes. So, if you’re planning to make the visit, have a read through our list of some of the best things to do in Orlando during the month of February. Orlando’s temperate weather in the wintertime makes it perfect for visiting some of the area’s most famous theme parks. Whether you’re a pop culture fanatic or travelling with family, there’s no better place to be than the Universal Resort. Drawing in millions of visitors each year, this place is recognized as one of the most popular theme parks in the world – and it’s easy to see why. The park is split into ten different zones, each with their own unique theme. With over 30 rides and attractions on-site, there’s a lot to choose from here – but that’s all part of the fun! We love this spot because it’s impossible to leave without a big smile on your face.

If you’re looking for something a little different, look no further than the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Breaking away from the typical museum encounter, the institute works not only to educate its visitors about space travel but bring the experience to life. Through awe-inspiring attractions, exhibits, and activities, learn more about some of man’s finest achievements. At the institute, you can view historic spacecraft and memorabilia, learn more about those who have dedicated their lives to space travel in the Astronauts Hall of Fame, and touch a real moon rock. But if you thought that was all, you were wrong! A favorite for most visitors, the Shuttle Launch Experience provides a fantastic simulation of a real rocket blast off. No doubt one of the more unique stops on our list, this place is a total must-see.

LEARN SOMETHING NEW

Another one of our favorite things to do for the month of February is visit the Wells’ Built Museum of African American History. A perfect activity for those cooler days, the institution seeks to present, preserve and interpret artefacts from African American culture and that of the diaspora in a wonderful historical space. Built in the first half of the twentieth century, the museum once served as a hotel for African Americans who were barred from Florida’s segregated hotels. Upon entrance, visitors can view an impressive collection of memorabilia pertaining to Orlando’s black history and Civil Rights Movement. For those with a great thirst for knowledge and deep appreciation for culture, this one should rank at the very top of the itinerary!

If you’re looking for art and culture in Orlando, don’t worry – we've got you covered! Though the city is perhaps best known for its famous theme parks, its wonderful galleries may just surprise you. Established by a group of art enthusiasts in 1924, the Orlando Museum of Art plays a major role in the city’s creative scene. In its eclectic repository, the institution houses over 2, 400 works covering Contemporary Art, African Art, and that of the Ancient Americas. Walking through the institute, you’ll be able to spot works that are incredibly rare and thousands of years of age. As fascinating as it is fun, this place is well worth the visit.

If you’re looking to take some quiet time in nature, Orlando has some spectacular green spaces to choose from. Wild and romantic, the charming Kraft Azalea Garden makes a fantastic contrast to the vast urban landscapes found elsewhere in the city. Open all year round to the public, this wonderful secluded space is perfect for taking a little time to yourself. Strolling through the park, you’ll notice cypress and banyan trees, and obviously, azaleas. Sat on the shore of Lake Maitland, the park has a small dock that offers fishing and boating activities. You should also be able to spot beautiful birdlife around the area, including egrets, herons, owls, and woodpeckers. Incredibly peaceful and picturesque, we couldn’t think of a better way to spend a lazy afternoon in the city.

During February, the weather is cooler and less humid than usual, but not typically cold, making it a great time for outdoor activity in Orlando. A total favorite for locals and visitors alike, the Winter Park Farmers’ Market is the best way to start the weekend in the city. Taking place every Saturday morning, this place is well-recognized for its wide selection of fresh fruit and vegetables. In addition, delectable treats like chicken pot pies, Jamaican patties and kettle corn draw in the crowds to this favorite local mainstay. Still, that’s not all there is to see here. Browsing the stalls, you’ll find everything from raw honey and artisan cheese to original crafts and souvenirs. Vibrant and bustling with life, we recommend this place for all the foodies out there!

Thankfully, this time of the year is still warm, which means that you can still visit all of the area’s wonderful outdoor attractions, just as you would any other time of the year – but with less of a fuss! Trust us when we say that you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to choosing from exciting things to do in the area. The city’s world-class amusement parks are an absolute must-see for thrillseekers and those travelling with family. If you’re looking to spend some time in nature, look no further than Harry P. Leu Gardens. Or, immerse yourself in the true culture of the city at Winter Park Autumn Art Festival. So, grab your planner and get ready to jot some things down. Whatever you choose to do, we’re sure it’ll be great! Hit the Classics No visit to Orlando would be complete without checking out Universal Studios. Drawing in millions of visitors each year, this place is considered to be one of the most popular theme parks in the United States – and with good reason! Movie buffs and pop culture aficionados alike will enjoy its playful theme geared towards the entertainment industry, while there are over 30 rides and attractions to enjoy all year round. Still, if you’re anything like us, Halloween is your favorite holiday – and thankfully, Universal pulls out all the stops. For a spookier experience, don’t miss out on the park’s haunted houses, scream-filled scare zones, and live shows. Exceptionally frightful and undoubtedly awesome, this place certainly knows how to do Halloween justice! A total classic for those of all ages, Magic Kingdom is one of those places that everyone should visit at least once in a lifetime. Standing out against all other outdoor attractions in the city, this iconic Orlando mainstay is now a fundamental part of American culture. Walking around the park can be a little overwhelming for some, but we always recommend you hit the highlights – If an adrenaline rush is what you’re after, head over to Splash Mountain. For those looking for something with a little less bite, It’s a Small World would be your best bet. Or, for a true slice of Americana, try The Hall of Presidents. No matter where your interests may lie, you’re sure to find something for you. Though this place is known for its whimsical aesthetic all year round, it transforms to offer something a little different during the month of October. For all the Halloween lovers out there, don’t forget to check out the After Hours Boo Bash and Minnie’s Halloween Dine. The ultimate crowdpleaser that never goes out of style, we love this place because it always puts a smile on our face. Find Fun Activities Those travelling with family might appreciate the next item on our list. Another top player in the fantasy land game, Legoland garners enduring popularity for its specialist theme and kid-friendly rides. Based upon the popular children's toy after which it is named, the park is designed for children aged between 2-12 (but don’t tell us what to do!) Legoland is split into twelve separate areas, each with their own unique theme, and even includes botanical gardens which are preserved from its previous site. When Halloween rolls around, you can also catch costume competitions, themed shows and a pumpkin trail. We recommend checking the website before heading out, so you know when the special events are taking place. Of course, it wouldn’t be autumn without Oktoberfest. Held every year at Avalon Park, the fun never stops coming at this lively historic festival. Bringing Bavarian tradition to the City Beautiful, there’s a lot of fun to be had here. Sip a nice cold one in the beer garden, get festive with some Alpine dancing, and enjoy a hot bratwurst fresh off the stove. In addition, there are child-friendly games and activities, so nobody is left out! With its incredible atmosphere, we honestly couldn’t think of a better way to bring in the fall. Try Something Different If you’re looking for a relaxing way to spend the afternoon in Orlando, why not check out the Winter Park Autumn Art Festival? Running every October for over forty years now, this community-oriented sidewalk show proudly features the work of over 180 first-rate local artists. Walking around the festival, you’ll see everything from digital pieces and photography to fine art and sculpture. Still, there’s a lot more to see than just art here, with live music and comedy, and of course, an abundance of food to be enjoyed. The perfect stop for all creative types, we definitely don’t recommend skipping out on this one! With the cooler weather throughout the month, we highly suggest checking out some of the area’s beautiful green spaces. Founded in the late 1800s, Harry P. Leu Gardens is a big favorite for locals and visitors alike. The Leus travelled all over the world, bringing back exotic greenery to fill their gardens. Thankfully, the park is open to the public all year round, offering a great respite from the city. The park has a tropical rain forest, Florida's largest formal rose garden, and even a butterfly garden to be explored. Take a leisurely stroll, have a picnic, and don’t forget to make a stop at the Leu House Museum. Whichever way you choose to enjoy this lovely botanical oasis, there’s more than enough to see and do here. If you're looking to get in touch with Mother Nature, or simply just a quiet spot of contemplation, this is the way to go about things. October brings pleasant temperatures and wonderful energy, making it a great time to explore Orlando. The city is in full swing, with exciting events popping up all over the area throughout the entire month. Another one of our favorite theme park experiences for the month of December is available at Epcot. Staying true to the park’s main theme, the International Festival of the Holidays goes all out to provide a global celebration of the holiday season. Enjoy various iterations of Christmas through music, cuisine and special events. Each night all throughout the month, a celebrity will tell the story of Christmas accompanied by an orchestra and choir. Learn more about the time-honored traditions of different countries and soak up the holiday spirit. We especially love this take because it provides something a little different, with no less of the fun. See the Sites For those chilly December evenings, why not head out to the theater? If you’re looking for art and culture in the City Beautiful, you might be pleasantly surprised by what the area has to offer. For years, the Orlando Theatre has served as a regular entertainment house for some of the most talented performers you’ll ever see. Whether you’re looking to catch a Broadway show, see one of your favorite musicians, or laugh harder than ever with some live standup, this place has it all. In the past, the center has played host to the likes of Elton John, Paul McCartney and John Mulaney. Serving up engaging performances all throughout the week, this place would provide the perfect evening out in the city. Though December weather is generally pretty temperate, some days can get a little chilly. If you’re looking for a great colder weather activity, look no further than the Orlando Museum of Art. With over 50 rides, shows and attractions to choose from, the possibilities are pretty much endless here. Highlights include The Great Lego Race, The Dragon, and Miniland USA. Come Christmastime, the park transforms into an exciting dreamland, offering experiences worth treasuring forever. Catch seasonal shows, activities, sparkling lights, and more! With a wide variety of things to do stretching all throughout the month, there’s plenty of fun to be had here. Just because the city has cooled down doesn’t mean you have to stay huddled up inside! With its unique tropical climate, Florida is home to many wonderful green spaces just waiting to be discovered. An unmissable stop for all nature lovers, Harry P. Leu Gardens is well-recognized for its diverse collection of exotic plants. Covering over 40 acres, this charming historic park promises meticulously landscaped grounds and lakes, and great walking trails to enjoy. This stunning urban oasis is especially magical in the wintertime, when you can catch the Dazzling Nights display all throughout the month of December. Beautiful, calm and serene, we couldn’t think of a better way to spend some time away from the city. For a truly spectacular winter wonderland experience, check out Night of a Million Lights. Running all throughout the month, this event invites guests to enjoy a beautifully decorated fairytale neighborhood. Eat seasonal snacks as you stroll. Take a tram ride through the village. Enjoy a traditional Christmas market. Buying a ticket to this event provides support for ill children, so be sure to check it out. All-round feel good and super sparkly, this one should rank right at the top of the itinerary! While you might not get blankets of snow and wintry temperatures, no city knows how to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year better than Orlando.
