There are hundreds of things to do in Orlando during the wintertime. The city doesn’t typically slow down throughout this time of the year – far from it, actually. Compared to northern states, Orlando’s wintertime is pretty mild, thanks to its subtropical climate. Because of this, February is a great time to visit – the weather is more bearable, there are fewer crowds, and great deals to take full advantage of. Whether you’re looking to check out the theme parks, visit the museums, or take some time off at the farmers’ market, you’re sure to find something to suit your tastes. So, if you’re planning to make the visit, have a read through our list of some of the best things to do in Orlando during the month of February. Orlando’s temperate weather in the wintertime makes it perfect for visiting some of the area’s most famous theme parks. Whether you’re a pop culture fanatic or travelling with family, there’s no better place to be than the Universal Resort. Drawing in millions of visitors each year, this place is recognized as one of the most popular theme parks in the world – and it’s easy to see why. The park is split into ten different zones, each with their own unique theme. With over 30 rides and attractions on-site, there’s a lot to choose from here – but that’s all part of the fun! We love this spot because it’s impossible to leave without a big smile on your face.

If you’re looking for something a little different, look no further than the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Breaking away from the typical museum encounter, the institute works not only to educate its visitors about space travel but bring the experience to life. Through awe-inspiring attractions, exhibits, and activities, learn more about some of man’s finest achievements. At the institute, you can view historic spacecraft and memorabilia, learn more about those who have dedicated their lives to space travel in the Astronauts Hall of Fame, and touch a real moon rock. But if you thought that was all, you were wrong! A favorite for most visitors, the Shuttle Launch Experience provides a fantastic simulation of a real rocket blast off. No doubt one of the more unique stops on our list, this place is a total must-see.

LEARN SOMETHING NEW

Another one of our favorite things to do for the month of February is visit the Wells’ Built Museum of African American History. A perfect activity for those cooler days, the institution seeks to present, preserve and interpret artefacts from African American culture and that of the diaspora in a wonderful historical space. Built in the first half of the twentieth century, the museum once served as a hotel for African Americans who were barred from Florida’s segregated hotels. Upon entrance, visitors can view an impressive collection of memorabilia pertaining to Orlando’s black history and Civil Rights Movement. For those with a great thirst for knowledge and deep appreciation for culture, this one should rank at the very top of the itinerary!

If you’re looking for art and culture in Orlando, don’t worry – we've got you covered! Though the city is perhaps best known for its famous theme parks, its wonderful galleries may just surprise you. Established by a group of art enthusiasts in 1924, the Orlando Museum of Art plays a major role in the city’s creative scene. In its eclectic repository, the institution houses over 2, 400 works covering Contemporary Art, African Art, and that of the Ancient Americas. If you’re looking to take some quiet time in nature, Orlando has some spectacular green spaces to choose from. Wild and romantic, the charming Kraft Azalea Garden makes a fantastic contrast to the vast urban landscapes found elsewhere in the city. Open all year round to the public, this wonderful secluded space is perfect for taking a little time to yourself. Strolling through the park, you’ll notice cypress and banyan trees, and obviously, azaleas. Sat on the shore of Lake Maitland, the park has a small dock that offers fishing and boating activities. You should also be able to spot beautiful birdlife around the area, including egrets, herons, owls, and woodpeckers. Incredibly peaceful and picturesque, we couldn’t think of a better way to spend a lazy afternoon in the city.

During February, the weather is cooler and less humid than usual, but not typically cold, making it a great time for outdoor activity in Orlando. A total favorite for locals and visitors alike, the Winter Park Farmers’ Market is the best way to start the weekend in the city. Taking place every Saturday morning, this place is well-recognized for its wide selection of fresh fruit and vegetables. In addition, delectable treats like chicken pot pies, Jamaican patties and kettle corn draw in the crowds to this favorite local mainstay. Still, that’s not all there is to see here. Browsing the stalls, you’ll find everything from raw honey and artisan cheese to original crafts and souvenirs. Vibrant and bustling with life, we recommend this place for all the foodies out there!

Since Florida is known for its beautiful tropical weather, it only makes sense that the state is home to some of the best nature reserves just waiting to be explored. Part of Everglades National Park, the Disney Wilderness Preserve stands out for its entirely unique ecosystem. No, really – this habitat is the only one of its kind currently found on earth! A total nature lover’s haven, the park has over 1,000 species of plants and animals on-site. At the park, you can take scenic strolls or off-road buggy tours to learn more about the environment and the animals which thrive there. Just remember to wear your comfiest walking shoes! Find Fun Activities Looking for something a little different? Well, look no further than the Museum of Illusions! Breaking away from the typical museum experience, the institute offers a totally unique sensory experience where nothing is quite as it seems. Upon entrance, you’ll be able to explore over 50 immersive exhibits which play with motion, color, shape, and space to twist the mind. Fan favorites include kaleidoscopes and holograms and tilted and reverse rooms. Don't forget to bring your phone so you can capture some snapshots of the incredible exhibits! If you’re looking to get into the true Florida spirit, what better place to be than Repticon Kissimmee? Taking place in late September, this two-day reptile show is a total must for any animal lovers in the area. Held in over 50 cities and 20 states, the festival recognized as one of the biggest animal expos of its kind. At the event, you’ll be able to get up close with a wide array of exotic reptiles in a safe and considerate way. In addition, you can attend live seminars and demonstrations to learn more about the animals and the different habitats which they come from. As fun as it is engaging, the festival provides a totally one-of-a-kind experience to remember. Those who are travelling with family might be interested in the next item on our list. Spanning over 50 acres of gorgeous greenery, Harry P. Leu Gardens is an unmissable sight any time of the year. Standing out from other green spaces in the city, these tropical gardens showcase a wide array of exotic plants, thanks to founders Mr. And Mrs. Harry P. Leu, who scoured the world for unusual vegetation to bring back from their excursions. In early September, the park transforms into a magical forest with its Fairy Doors exhibition. At the event, you’re tasked to spot the beautiful wooden doors hidden around the park on some of the centuries-old trees. Bringing magic to life, this event would make the perfect family day trip. Relax! Another one of our favorite things to do for the month of September in Orlando is checking out the Lakeridge Wine and Cheese Festival. Now over 10 years old, the event celebrates local artisan vendors and outstanding winemakers on the beautiful grounds of their lush vineyard. Culinary offerings cover a wide variety of cuisines and can be meat and seafood-forward, though Lakeridge also offers many alternatives for those with special dietary requirements. Throughout the weekend, there are outdoor performances, activities, winery tours and wine tastings to be enjoyed. If the aim of the game is to spoil you, then the festival sure does its job. If you want to indulge your inner foodie, then Magical Dining might just be the festival for you! Running the whole way throughout the month, this event gives diners the opportunity to try out some local favorites at lowered prices. Standouts include the massive biscuits and savory sausage gravy, pimento cheese-topped chicken biscuit, or (our forever favorite) the signature 7th Trimester Cookie—stuffed with dark chocolate, salted caramel, and pecans. Their “biscuit mountain” may require a napkin—and possibly a nap.  Brunch is buzzy, but the team keeps things moving with smiles and fast coffee refills. The décor mixes colorful tiles and playful diner touches, instantly putting you in a weekend frame of mind. Don’t skip the bakery case—grab a gooey cinnamon roll or dreamy layered cake for later.  Lunch and Local Life at Plant Street Market  When lunchtime rolls around, nothing beats Plant Street Market, just 20 minutes northwest in Winter Garden. This sprawling indoor-outdoor marketplace is bursting with local charm: rows of indie food stalls, family-run butchers, craft beer, fresh flowers, and artisan jewelry. It’s always packed with families and friends lingering over lunch.  Foodies can tuck into everything from wood-fired pizza at Michael’s Ali Coal Fired Pizza, gourmet grilled cheese from MAC’d OUT, and Asian-fusion bites at Jodo Sushi, to Caribbean jerk chicken plates. For a sweet treat, the doughnuts at Sir Benji’s or fresh-pressed juices at Press’d keep things bright and energizing.  Seating spills outdoors where you’ll find live music, friendly pups, and a laid-back crowd enjoying the Florida sun. There’s even a small playground for kids (or adults who act like kids). Bonus: Crooked Can Brewing Company sits within the market, serving up rotating taps of their crowd-favorite brews.  Sunset and Strolls at Ivanhoe Village  Shift gears late afternoon and head to Ivanhoe Village, a quirky Orlando neighborhood just north of downtown. The old industrial vibe comes wrapped in colorful murals, indie shops, and one of the city’s best lakeside walking paths.  You’ll spot locals biking, skating, or lounging under giant mossy oaks as they watch paddleboarders drift across Lake Ivanhoe. Antique lovers will want to dip into Washburn Imports, while foodies and caffeine fiends flock to The Hammered Lamb, which has great cocktails and a funky patio with a front-row view of the lake—and the passing SunRail train.  As the sun sinks, Ivanhoe turns mellow and magical—bar patios buzz, string lights flicker, and live bands provide a playful backdrop. It’s a side of Orlando that surprises visitors: creative, chill, and brimming with personality.  Tastes Worth the Trip: Dinner at The Ravenous Pig  By dinner time, you’ve earned a little indulgence. Head to Winter Park and the much-loved Ravenous Pig—gastropub royalty with atmosphere to match. The dining room is warm and welcoming, with exposed brick, cool pendant lights, and a menu that reads like a love letter to fresh Florida produce.  Choose the house-made charcuterie board to start, followed by their famous Pub Burger (topped with pimento cheese and crispy onions) or whatever’s freshest from the local farms. Drinks shine, too: the seasonal craft cocktails always surprise, but the house-brewed IPA is a winner if you’re a beer lover.  Service is friendly and never fussy—just ask for their daily dessert pick before you’re too full to say yes. Whether you’re with family, friends, or plotting the perfect foodie date, it’s the kind of meal you’ll be raving about long after your Saturday ends.  Stroll Lake Eola Park by Night  Before you call it a night, wind down at Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando. It’s especially pretty at dusk or after dark, when the city skyline twinkles and the swan boats drift gently across the water. The looped walking path is just under a mile, making it perfect for a post-dinner stroll.  Along the way, check out the Walt Disney Amphitheater—all lit up at night. The playground, picnic spots, and public art keep things interesting, and if you time your Saturday just right, you might catch a local festival or concert. End your walk with waterside ice cream from Greenery Creamery or a nightcap at Relax Grill.  Whether you’re chatting, people-watching, or reflecting on your day, Lake Eola adds a peaceful final touch to your active Orlando itinerary.  Late Night Laughs and Tunes at Universal CityWalk  Still not sleepy? Wrap up your Orlando Saturday in Universal’s CityWalk, where the party doesn’t pause until the early hours. The pedestrian zone is bursting with neon, top-notch music, and countless dining and entertainment options.  Comedy fans should snag a seat at The Improv for stand-up shows, while music lovers can catch live sets at Hard Rock Live or slip into the Red Coconut Club for DJ beats and dancing. Trace human history and culture and leave having learned something new. Another one of our favorite cultural institutes in the city has got to be the Orlando Fire Museum. Built into a restored 1926 firehouse, this place showcases the rich and proud background of the area’s fire department. For anybody who loves history, the museum’s comprehensive collection is sure to spark intrigue. Within its permanent repository, you’ll find tools and apparatus from as early as the 1900s, including hoses, uniforms, lithographs, and more. As you make your way around the building, you’ll get to hear more about the history of the field from retired firefighters themselves. Still, the star of the show is of course the institute’s fascinating collection of antique fire engines. Bringing a fascinating part of the past to life, this cultural gem highlights the valuable work that firefighters do. Try Something Different Anybody who’s travelling with family might just appreciate the next item on our list. As the name suggests, the Museum of Illusions presents an immersive brain-twisting experience for you and your loved ones. Sure to blow you away, the institute offers a wholly unique experience that works to test your perspective and trick the mind. With over 50 captivating exhibits to choose from, the fun never quite ends here. Upon entrance, you’ll find everything from kaleidoscopes and holograms to tilted and reverse rooms. See if you can work out how some of the displays work, and definitely don’t forget to take some snaps for Instagram! The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum is one of the top places to visit in Orlando for artsy types. As a speciality institute, this place is best known for housing the largest collection of the American artist Louis Comfort Tiffany. Touring the museum is a total treat for the eyes, with each work more vibrant and detailed than the last. Still, that isn’t all there is to see here. Also noted for its wonderful Art Nouveau collection, the museum features works by the likes of Frank Lloyd Wright, William Morris and Louis Sullivan. Utterly captivating and unique, this hidden treasure works to showcase the development of modern American art. Not to knock the theme parks, but Orlando has way more to see beyond Disney World. With specialities ranging from important works of art to scientific discoveries and other family-friendly educational experiences, there’s a little something for everybody here.
