Orlando in June

Published: July 18, 2024

June is one of the best times to visit Orlando. Contrary to popular belief, the city has far more to offer beyond its famous theme parks. From world-class entertainment experiences to great outdoor activities and shopping opportunities, the subtropical capital of the Southeast packs quite the punch! Within its broad city limits, you can visit Universal Studios, catch some unique shows, and enjoy the natural habitat firsthand. Still, if you’re coming for the rides, you definitely won’t leave disappointed! Thankfully, we’ve done the research for you – now all you need to do is check off the list! So, grab a notepad and get ready to jot some things down.

See the Classics

A trip to Orlando isn’t quite complete without a visit to Universal Studios. A total fan favorite, there’s no place that quite compares. Drawing in millions of visitors each year, this place is one of the most popular resorts in the entire world – and with good reason! Offering a world-class entertainment district, two theme parks and a waterpark, too, there’s a lot to see and do here for every type of traveller. Additionally, you can stay on-site in one of the resort’s many hotels – still, we think that you could stay for weeks here and never experience all of it! With so much ground to cover, this place provides an exciting entertainment experience to remember.

Another one of our favorite theme parks in Orlando has got to be LegoLand for all of its liveliness and whimsy. Perfect for those travelling with family, this place offers an exciting experience to all of its visitors. An epicenter of pure unadulterated merriment, this place packs so much into its boundaries. From rides and shows to shopping and dining, you’ll never be bored here – rather, you might find it hard to fit all of it in! Still, one of our favorite attractions completely unique to this spot are the spectacular Lego models dotted around the site. Always barrels of fun, this place is great for those of all ages.

Take a Day Trip

Looking for a great way to beat the heat? Well, look no further! Voted the USA’s best water park, Aquatica is the perfect place to spend a hot summer’s day. Thrill rides like Ihu’s Breakaway Falls are sure enough to test anybody’s bravery. Meanwhile, rides like Taumata Racer and Walhalla Wave are perfect for younger guests. Still, our resounding favorite has got to be the Dolphin Plunge, which literally sends you zooming through a pool of the ocean’s friendliest creatures en route. With great rides, natural sand beaches, and marine life, this place provides an exciting entertainment experience to remember.

If you’re a seasoned visitor to Orlando, you’ll be well aware that weather can get pretty steamy. Thankfully, the city has plenty of options for those who aren’t big fans of the heat. Open and running since 1955, Orlando Science Center has long been serving the community as a center of intellectual thought and understanding. Combining fun with learning, the institute breaks down complicated ideas and presents them in interesting and understandable ways for its visitors. There are hands-on exhibits, 3D films, and engaging educational programming, making it a great place for curious minds. We love this spot because it’s impossible to leave without having learned something new!

Try Something New

If you’re looking to spend some quiet time in nature, you won’t need to travel far. Known for its warmer climate and beautiful greenery, Orlando has many parks and preserves that are perfect for a lazy summertime stroll. Open to the public 365 days a year, Harry P. Leu Gardens is the perfect place to soak up the natural beauty of Florida. Covering over 50 acres of landscaped gardens and lakes, this place is a nature lover’s paradise. With meandering walking trails, a tropical rainforest, and a tranquil butterfly garden, this place pretty much has it all! Whilst you’re there, we also strongly suggest checking out the Leu House Museum. Once serving as a home to Mr and Mrs Harry P. Leu, this meticulously restored historic structure is now open to visitors. Just remember to wear your comfiest walking shoes and take plenty of sunscreen with you!

For a destination known primarily for its rollercoasters, the best things to do in Orlando may just surprise you. The city’s coastal seat and all-around beautiful weather make it a great destination for wildlife theme parks. Recognized as the ‘’Alligator Capital of the World’’, Gatorland is home to a whopping 2, 000 alligators! A little crazy and a whole lot of fun, this place offers an interactive experience where you can get up close with your favorite reptiles in a safe way. But that’s not all! The park is also home to crocodiles, flamingos, snakes, flamingos, emus and more. In addition, there are swamp walks, vehicle tours, and even ziplines to be enjoyed. If there’s a better way to discover the true meaning of Florida, we sure haven’t heard of it!

When it comes to the bizarre and outlandish, Orlando pretty much holds the title. Those coming to the city for art and culture might not be completely taken. Still, anybody with a sense of humor and appreciation for the downright ridiculous will be more than happy with the city’s unique offerings. Standing out as Orlando’s longest-running dinner show, the Outta Control Magic Show has everything you could possibly ask for when it comes to family entertainment. No, really: we mean it. This quirky interactive show features magic, mind-reading and improv – yes, maybe that sounds like a lot, but it totally works, trust us. If you’re wondering about the dinner package (why wouldn’t you?) it’s unlimited hand-tossed pizza and beer, wine, and dessert. Sound good?

June in Orlando presents ample opportunity for adventure. The days are longer, the weather is warm, and the sky is a brilliant blue. It is also prime time to explore and enjoy all of the city’s fantastic activities and attractions. Whether you’re a rollercoaster fiend, a nature lover, or just looking to relax, you’re sure to find something to suit your tastes. Orlando in October

Fall is arguably the best time of the year to plan a visit to Orlando. Though the city isn’t exactly known for its crisp breeze and fall foliage, autumn provides a much-welcomed break from Orlando’s high summer temperatures. Thankfully, this time of the year is still warm, which means that you can still visit all of the area’s wonderful outdoor attractions, just as you would any other time of the year – but with less of a fuss! Trust us when we say that you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to choosing from exciting things to do in the area. The city’s world-class amusement parks are an absolute must-see for thrillseekers and those travelling with family. If you’re looking to spend some time in nature, look no further than Harry P. Leu Gardens. Or, immerse yourself in the true culture of the city at Winter Park Autumn Art Festival. So, grab your planner and get ready to jot some things down. Whatever you choose to do, we’re sure it’ll be great! Hit the Classics No visit to Orlando would be complete without checking out Universal Studios. Drawing in millions of visitors each year, this place is considered to be one of the most popular theme parks in the United States – and with good reason! Movie buffs and pop culture aficionados alike will enjoy its playful theme geared towards the entertainment industry, while there are over 30 rides and attractions to enjoy all year round. Still, if you’re anything like us, Halloween is your favorite holiday – and thankfully, Universal pulls out all the stops. For a spookier experience, don’t miss out on the park’s haunted houses, scream-filled scare zones, and live shows. Exceptionally frightful and undoubtedly awesome, this place certainly knows how to do Halloween justice! A total classic for those of all ages, Magic Kingdom is one of those places that everyone should visit at least once in a lifetime. Standing out against all other outdoor attractions in the city, this iconic Orlando mainstay is now a fundamental part of American culture. Walking around the park can be a little overwhelming for some, but we always recommend you hit the highlights – If an adrenaline rush is what you’re after, head over to Splash Mountain. For those looking for something with a little less bite, It’s a Small World would be your best bet. Or, for a true slice of Americana, try The Hall of Presidents. No matter where your interests may lie, you’re sure to find something for you. Though this place is known for its whimsical aesthetic all year round, it transforms to offer something a little different during the month of October. For all the Halloween lovers out there, don’t forget to check out the After Hours Boo Bash and Minnie’s Halloween Dine. The ultimate crowdpleaser that never goes out of style, we love this place because it always puts a smile on our face. Find Fun Activities Those travelling with family might appreciate the next item on our list. Another top player in the fantasy land game, Legoland garners enduring popularity for its specialist theme and kid-friendly rides. Based upon the popular children's toy after which it is named, the park is designed for children aged between 2-12 (but don’t tell us what to do!) Legoland is split into twelve separate areas, each with their own unique theme, and even includes botanical gardens which are preserved from its previous site. When Halloween rolls around, you can also catch costume competitions, themed shows and a pumpkin trail. We recommend checking the website before heading out, so you know when the special events are taking place. Of course, it wouldn’t be autumn without Oktoberfest. Held every year at Avalon Park, the fun never stops coming at this lively historic festival. Bringing Bavarian tradition to the City Beautiful, there’s a lot of fun to be had here. Sip a nice cold one in the beer garden, get festive with some Alpine dancing, and enjoy a hot bratwurst fresh off the stove. In addition, there are child-friendly games and activities, so nobody is left out! With its incredible atmosphere, we honestly couldn’t think of a better way to bring in the fall. Try Something Different If you’re looking for a relaxing way to spend the afternoon in Orlando, why not check out the Winter Park Autumn Art Festival? Running every October for over forty years now, this community-oriented sidewalk show proudly features the work of over 180 first-rate local artists. Walking around the festival, you’ll see everything from digital pieces and photography to fine art and sculpture. Still, there’s a lot more to see than just art here, with live music and comedy, and of course, an abundance of food to be enjoyed. The perfect stop for all creative types, we definitely don’t recommend skipping out on this one! With the cooler weather throughout the month, we highly suggest checking out some of the area’s beautiful green spaces. Founded in the late 1800s, Harry P. Leu Gardens is a big favorite for locals and visitors alike. The Leus travelled all over the world, bringing back exotic greenery to fill their gardens. Thankfully, the park is open to the public all year round, offering a great respite from the city. The park has a tropical rain forest, Florida's largest formal rose garden, and even a butterfly garden to be explored. Take a leisurely stroll, have a picnic, and don’t forget to make a stop at the Leu House Museum. Whichever way you choose to enjoy this lovely botanical oasis, there’s more than enough to see and do here. If you're looking to get in touch with Mother Nature, or simply just a quiet spot of contemplation, this is the way to go about things. October brings pleasant temperatures and wonderful energy, making it a great time to explore Orlando. The city is in full swing, with exciting events popping up all over the area throughout the entire month. Whether you’re a seasoned visitor or just passing through, you’re sure to find something to pique your interest. Of course, Halloween is the highlight of the month, and you can get in on the fun and festivities at almost every turn. Other big favorites include Oktoberfest and the Winter Park Autumn Art Festival, where you can soak up that incredible atmosphere. Still, don’t forget to seize the opportunity to enjoy the city’s best outdoor attractions in the cooler weather. Thanksgiving in Orlando: A Feast of Fun and Sunshine

Welcome to Orlando, where Thanksgiving means more than turkey—it’s an entire city celebrating with sunshine, thrills, and tables teeming with tasty treats. Whether you’re a theme park fanatic, a foodie determined to find the ultimate pumpkin pie, or you just want some quality family time under the palms, Orlando offers every flavor of holiday fun. From top-tier attractions to splashy shows, creative eats, and laid-back local neighborhoods, your Thanksgiving week promises a cornucopia of choices. Ready for your happiest, most memorable Thanksgiving yet? Here's a perfect blend of activities, meals, and one-of-a-kind experiences to help you craft your Orlando holiday adventure.  Our favorite ways to celebrate Thanksgiving in Orlando include:  Kennedy Space Center  LEGOLAND® Florida  Universal Orlando’s Thanksgiving Events  Island H2O Water Park  The Outta Control Magic Dinner Show  Gatorland  Macy’s Holiday Parade at Universal Studios  Parade Watching and Festive Decor at Disney Springs  ICON Park: The Orlando Eye  Thanksgiving Feasting at Local Standouts  LEGOLAND® Florida: Turkey, Thrills, and Bricks  If your gang includes kids (or you’re secretly a big kid yourself), LEGOLAND® Florida serves up a Thanksgiving that’s playfully creative. The park pulls out all the stops for late-fall visitors, decking out its sprawling grounds with autumn decor, LEGO® turkeys, and plenty of photo ops for your holiday card.  Little builders can enjoy hands-on seasonal workshops (picture making your very own LEGO® pumpkin or turkey), and the rides remain a hit for all ages. Save time for MINILAND’s quirky recreations, then fill up on treats from the Fun Town Pizza & Pasta Buffet—ample seating, endless carbs, and desserts kids really love.  The relaxed park atmosphere in November means shorter lines, especially during the holiday itself, letting families focus more on fun and less on waiting. For an extra-special treat, snag tickets to a character meet-and-greet with LEGO® Santa or Mrs. Claus. LEGOLAND® Florida knows kids fuel family memories, so bring your appetite for adventure—and maybe a commemorative brick to take home.  Universal Orlando’s Thanksgiving Events: Turkey with a Side of Wizardry  Want Thanksgiving sprinkled with a little movie magic? Universal Orlando Resort takes the “holiday with thrills” concept up a notch. While Universal doesn’t hold a single official Thanksgiving event, the entire resort feels festive, with decorations, special dining menus, and sneak-peek seasonal activities.  Wander through the streets of Diagon Alley decked in autumn swags, then hop over to Hogsmeade for a Butterbeer toast—a modern Thanksgiving treat, if you ask us. You’ll find Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure offer plenty of open rides (think: less wait to battle Voldemort or race with Spider-Man), and many on-site hotels tempt with carving stations and buffet feasts.  Don’t miss Universal CityWalk, where restaurants like Vivo Italian Kitchen and The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen go over the top with classic Thanksgiving spreads. After dinner, catch cutting-edge entertainment or some live music—no clean up required. For those who want fun, food, and a little wizarding wonder, this is the Orlando Thanksgiving for you.  Island H2O Water Park: Splashing into the Holidays  Dreaming of Thanksgiving dinner followed by a splash in the sun? Orlando’s balmy November weather delivers, and Island H2O Water Park has you covered for that uniquely Florida-style family adventure. Open over select Thanksgiving week dates, the park’s mix of wave pools, slides, and lazy rivers offers the perfect balance between adrenaline and relaxation.  There’s something all-ages can enjoy: little ones love the playful Splash Attack, thrill-seekers head straight for Drop Down, and everyone can float together on the Chat Creek lazy river. What’s even better? The park runs fun digital wristband experiences—snap group selfies, cue up your favorite music, and even vote on light shows as you splash.  Refuel at Tag Shack, where burgers, salads, and fruity mocktails mean there’s something for every taste—just in case anyone’s looking for a post-turkey snack. Few Thanksgiving memories top spending the afternoon in swimming trunks, making a sunny splash before indulging in pumpkin pie back at your accommodation.  The Outta Control Magic Dinner Show: Laughter on the Menu  Looking for Thanksgiving entertainment with your meal? Book a night at The Outta Control Magic Dinner Show, and you’re in for a treat as memorable as any grandma’s stuffing. This family-friendly variety show mashes up comedy, magic, and interactive antics in a way only Orlando knows how.  Here’s how it works: you sit down with unlimited pizza, salad, popcorn, and drinks—and then the real fun starts. The magician-emcee (the cast rotates, always hilarious) pulls off sleight-of-hand tricks and mind-reading routines while constantly involving the crowd. Even the most skeptical teens end up laughing out loud.  The intimate venue means no bad seat in the house, so whether you’re two or twelve, you’re up close to the action. Book ahead—shows tend to fill up over the holiday weekend, and this is a guaranteed way to keep the group delighted. For a light-hearted, anything-but-stuffy Thanksgiving dinner, we think this is tough to beat.  Macy’s Holiday Parade at Universal Studios: Big Balloons, Big Smiles  Orlando brings some New York dazzle to its streets with Macy’s Holiday Parade at Universal Studios Florida. If you’re missing the classic parade but craving a little big-city excitement, Universal’s tribute hits all the right notes—towering balloons, glittering floats, and a high-energy cast of characters.  Held daily starting Thanksgiving weekend, the parade is a spellbinding spectacle: snowflakes swirl above, marching bands play, and Minions, Shrek, and more wave from atop their decorated floats. Grab a curbside spot or a premium viewing pass for an up-close look at those incredible balloons. (Pro tip: ask staff for the best parade route stops and hidden viewing gems.)  Kids light up with delight, and grown-ups love the mix of nostalgia and theme park excitement. Stick around after the parade to snap selfies, check out the park’s festive decor, and enjoy holiday treats like gingerbread and peppermint fudge. This is where Thanksgiving dreams and magical memories collide.  Parade Watching and Festive Decor at Disney Springs  Prefer parade floats and free entertainment without the ticket price? Disney Springs, Disney World’s shopping, dining, and entertainment neighborhood, comes alive with decor, pop-up performances, and plenty of holiday sparkle. During Thanksgiving, the entire area glows with lights, oversized pumpkins, and impressive themed window displays.  Take a stroll along the waterside promenade as local musicians perform and giant Christmas trees go up for the seasonal Christmas Tree Stroll (yes, in time for Thanksgiving!). Keep an eye out for holiday dance parties and carolers adding extra cheer to your day—or simply recline by Lake Buena Vista with a churro and hot chocolate.  Foodies will love the Thanksgiving Day specials at favorites like Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ (fried turkey and legendary hummingbird cake, anyone?) or a classic American feast at The BOATHOUSE with a view of the water. From live music to festive shopping, Disney Springs is your relaxing, walkable holiday headquarters.  ICON Park: The Orlando Eye and More  For panoramic views and a modern Orlando twist, head to ICON Park. Towering 400 feet above International Drive, The Orlando Eye’s glass capsules offer a dreamy Thanksgiving setting with sweeping views of city lights, theme parks, and, if you time it right, stunning sunsets.  Start your visit with a ride on the Eye—thanksgiving selfies with the city as your backdrop are practically mandatory. The on-site entertainment lineup includes Madame Tussauds Orlando, SEA LIFE Aquarium, and Museum of Illusions, each adding its own flavor to your holiday afternoon.  Feasting options run from all-American (Tin Roof's live music and Southern barbecue) to international flavors at Yard House or Tapa Toro, while dessert lovers can indulge at Sugar Factory. Come dusk, ICON Park gets even livelier, with its open-air courtyard lit up for the holidays and musicians providing a laid-back soundtrack. For a blend of wow-worthy attractions, festive eats, and Orlando’s signature energy, this is our go-to spot for celebrating in style.  Thanksgiving Feasting at Local Standouts  Of course, sometimes Thanksgiving is all about the meal—the warmth, togetherness, and that unbeatable post-turkey satisfaction. Luckily, Orlando’s dining scene rises to the occasion with restaurants offering both traditional spreads and creative twists.  Rosen Shingle Creek’s Café Osceola puts on a legendary Thanksgiving buffet with everything from roasted turkey and herb-crusted prime rib to house-made pumpkin cheesecake—served in a sunlit, palm-lined atrium. For a more intimate affair, The Ravenous Pig in Winter Park fuses local ingredients into Southern-inspired plates; the smoked turkey breast and rich cornbread dressing are conversation-starters.  If classic comfort is what you crave, 4 Rivers Smokehouse serves Thanksgiving platters with a barbecue spin—think hickory-smoked turkey, sausage stuffing, and not-to-be-missed pecan pie bread pudding.   Many Orlando hotels also put on grand buffet feasts for those who prefer to let someone else handle the clean-up. Whichever you pick, you’ll eat surrounded by cheerful crowds, festive decor, and often live local music. Trust us: Orlando’s restaurants promise a Thanksgiving that’s both delicious and distinctive.    Thanksgiving in Orlando is a treat for all the senses. Whether you’re craving adrenaline at world-class attractions, sharing laughs at a magic show, splashing into Florida’s signature sunshine, or gathering around a perfect meal with loved ones, this city has you covered. Blend tradition with adventure, try something new, and discover why Orlando turns Thanksgiving into more than just a holiday—it’s a celebration you’ll always remember.    Like this? Check out our guide to magnificent mornings in Orlando, or browse the city’s market scene.     Step up your sightseeing with Go City®  We make it easy to explore the best a city has to offer. We’re talking top attractions, hidden gems and local tours, all for one low price.
