A popular tourist destination for families and solo travellers alike, Kissimmee quite often conjures the image of famous theme parks and outdoor adventures. Though the area is perhaps best known for Disney World, you may be surprised by the myriad of fantastic attractions and points of exploration on offer. Trust us when we say, you’ll never run out of things to do here. Whether you’re looking to visit Magic Kingdom, make a splash at Island H20 Water Park, or spend a relaxing day ambling through the Disney Wilderness Preserve, there’s a little something for everybody here. Another one of our favorite things to do in Kissimmee is visit Fun Spot America. Though it isn’t quite as famous as some of the area’s other amusement parks, this place more than holds its own with a wide variety of unique rides and games to choose from. With over 20 exciting attractions, the fun just keeps on coming. For thrillseekers, excitement awaits you as you drop from 300 feet on the world’s tallest rollercoaster. This spot is also great for kids, offering old-time classics like bumper cars and a Ferris wheel. Bringing the charm and nostalgia to the theme park, this place is sure to put a smile on your face.

Kissimmee is known as a total hub of fun and entertainment – and it sure doesn’t disappoint! As the area’s most popular entertainment district, Old Town provides the ultimate amusement park experience. Boasting everything from killer dining and shopping experiences to live music events and car shows, you’ll never run out of things to do here. Still, what’s perhaps most charming about this place is that it seeks to offer a classic recreation of Old-Florida town; walking through the area, you’ll be able to notice the historic architecture and distinctive storefronts. A favorite for locals and visitors alike, this spot is not to be missed!

Try Something Different

Sure, we know that Kissimmee has a lot to offer in the amusement park department. Still, if you want to get to know the area a little better, there are plenty of interesting hidden gems and points of exploration to be uncovered. Completed in 1943, the Monument of States serves as a mark of American unity following the attack on Pearl Harbour. This creative outdoor installation is made up of 1, 500 stones from all over the United States, with messages inscribed into them – it even includes one from Franklin D. Roosevelt himself! This makes for a quick stop, meaning that you’ll have some time to explore the local area.

Since Florida is well-known for its beautiful weather, it may come as no surprise to you that the area is home to some of America’s most wondrous green spaces. If you’re looking to spend some downtime in nature, the Disney Wilderness Preserve provides the perfect refuge from the city. Just a short stop from Disney World, this place offers plenty of space and fresh air, as well as one of the most unique ecosystems in the world. On the premises, you’ll be able to admire over 1,000 species of plants and animals. This fantastic hidden gem is a total must-see for all nature lovers.

For those looking for a little bit of a challenge, why not check out the Orlando Tree Trek Adventure Park? Perfect for all adventurous types, the park provides an unforgettable outdoor experience set right up against the stunning natural pine forests of Kissimmee. At the park, you'll be able to test your limits through around 100 different aerial obstacle course challenges. Fly through the trees on Tarzan ropes. Test your bravery on a zip line. Hit the Classics Every theme park worth its name knows how to do Christmas right – and Magic Kingdom is no exception to this rule. If you’re looking for art and culture in the City Beautiful, you might be pleasantly surprised by what the area has to offer. For years, the Orlando Theatre has served as a regular entertainment house for some of the most talented performers you’ll ever see. Whether you’re looking to catch a Broadway show, see one of your favorite musicians, or laugh harder than ever with some live standup, this place has it all. In the past, the center has played host to the likes of Elton John, Paul McCartney and John Mulaney. Serving up engaging performances all throughout the week, this place would provide the perfect evening out in the city. Though December weather is generally pretty temperate, some days can get a little chilly. If you’re looking for a great colder weather activity, look no further than the Orlando Museum of Art. Founded way back in 1924, this place has long played a fundamental role in the city’s artistic community. In its impressive collection, you’ll find everything from Contemporary and American art to that of the Ancient Americas. We recommend checking the website before going for any upcoming exhibitions. With so much to see and learn, it'd be easy to just get lost here exploring this unique repository. Get Festive December is a fantastic time to visit some of Orlando’s famed theme parks, since the weather will be more bearable and the lines shorter. Great for those travelling with family, we’d consider Legoland way up there with Magic Kingdom as one of the top theme parks in the city. With over 50 rides, shows and attractions to choose from, the possibilities are pretty much endless here. Highlights include The Great Lego Race, The Dragon, and Miniland USA. Come Christmastime, the park transforms into an exciting dreamland, offering experiences worth treasuring forever. Catch seasonal shows, activities, sparkling lights, and more! With a wide variety of things to do stretching all throughout the month, there’s plenty of fun to be had here. Just because the city has cooled down doesn’t mean you have to stay huddled up inside! With its unique tropical climate, Florida is home to many wonderful green spaces just waiting to be discovered. An unmissable stop for all nature lovers, Harry P. Leu Gardens is well-recognized for its diverse collection of exotic plants. Covering over 40 acres, this charming historic park promises meticulously landscaped grounds and lakes, and great walking trails to enjoy. This stunning urban oasis is especially magical in the wintertime, when you can catch the Dazzling Nights display all throughout the month of December. Beautiful, calm and serene, we couldn’t think of a better way to spend some time away from the city. For a truly spectacular winter wonderland experience, check out Night of a Million Lights. Running all throughout the month, this event invites guests to enjoy a beautifully decorated fairytale neighborhood. Eat seasonal snacks as you stroll. Take a tram ride through the village. Enjoy a traditional Christmas market. Buying a ticket to this event provides support for ill children, so be sure to check it out. All-round feel good and super sparkly, this one should rank right at the top of the itinerary! While you might not get blankets of snow and wintry temperatures, no city knows how to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year better than Orlando. From exciting parades to over-the-top light displays, there’s much to do and see here for every type of traveller. Explore the city’s fantastic cultural institutions. Take a holiday tour of Epcot. The crowds are a little lighter, making for a more personalized visit. Get up close with the Atlantis Shuttle, walk beneath genuine moon rockets, and interact with countless hands-on exhibits. In one gentle revolution (about 20 minutes), you’ll spot theme parks, lakes, and on clear days, even the launch pads at Kennedy.  Thursdays are prime for visits—smaller crowds mean less waiting and more time to soak up those panoramic vistas in a climate-controlled capsule. The ride feels peaceful, with bubbles of excitement as you reach the top and see the Orlando sprawl stretch toward the horizon. For a treat, time your ride for sunset for dazzling golden skies, or go after dark and watch the city light up.  If you’re celebrating a special Thursday, look into the Sky Bar cabins serving up champagne or craft cocktails for a mid-air toast. Afterwards, take a stroll through ICON Park—neon-lit, buzzy, and full of fun places to grab a bite, from casual BBQ to upscale seafood. Don’t forget to snap that perfect selfie with the Eye behind you; it’s one of the city’s best backdrops!  WonderWorks: Mind-Bending Fun for All Ages  WonderWorks flips your Thursday upside-down—quite literally, thanks to the dazzling upside-down façade that greets you curbside. The hands-on exhibits encourage everyone to play, learn, and laugh, making it the ultimate stop for energetic families or those young at heart.  Special mention goes to the Wonder Coaster ride (you build your own roller coaster and then “ride” it in VR!) and the Bubble Lab, where you can literally encase yourself in a giant bubble—your Insta followers will thank you. This tech-savvy water park offers more than 20 unique rides, wave pools, and splash zones—plus an interactive app that lets you choose music, launch light shows, and snap digital memories while zipping down slides.  Come Thursday, the atmosphere is vibrant but mellow, making it blissfully easy to snag the best cabanas or race your mates down the “Hashtag Heights” slide without the long waits. Kids love the kid-friendly splash lagoons and lazy river, while thrill-seekers go straight for the multi-story drop slides and the Live Streaming Zone, which lets you broadcast your water-fueled exploits with friends back home.  Island H2O goes above and beyond with their immersive experience—there’s live DJ music, and with app-based wristbands, you even control what’s playing while you float. You can’t go wrong with cookies from Gideon’s Bakehouse or decadent chocolates at The Ganachery. Whether you’re a nature lover, an artsy type, or a foodie, you’re sure to find something to suit your tastes. From Riding Spaceship Earth at Epcot and photo opportunities at Madame Tussauds to relaxing walks through Kraft Azalea Garden and Disney Wilderness Preserve, here is how to make the most of your time in the city. See the Sites It would be a sin to make a trip to Orlando without visiting any of its famous theme parks. Owned and run by The Walt Disney Company. Epcot is the perfect place to spend time with friends and family. Standing out for its unique chosen theme, this place is dubbed as the ‘’permanent world’s fair’’, for its particular focus on human achievement and innovation. The park is divided into four neighborhoods, each with its own theme: World Celebration, World Discovery, World Nature and World Showcase. For pop-culture lovers and film enthusiasts, the next item on our list is an absolute must. To capture the real essence of Hollywood right in the center of Orlando, there’s no better place to be than Madame Tussauds. Offering 6 separate display sections of popular celebrities, the establishment provides a great interactive experience for all visitors. The figures are pretty spectacular close up, paying close attention to detail whilst also embodying the true spirit of each person depicted. A super fun and unique attraction, this one is not to be skipped out on! In a place like Orlando, sometimes it can seem like the city is saying thing one and one thing only: ‘’visit our theme parks!’’ Still, if you do your research, you’ll find that the area is just as multifaceted as any other. A great stop for all creative types, the Cornell Fine Arts Museum seeks to preserve, display and exhibit artworks ranging from antiquity right through to the contemporary. Upon entrance, visitors can enjoy an expansive collection of over 5, 000 objects, including prints, drawings, sculptures and more. Highlights include Andy Warhol’s photographs and polaroids, and works by Pablo Picasso and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Hidden amongst the suburban stretch of South Orlando, the Disney Wilderness Preserve provides the perfect retreat from the city. Covering over 3,500 acres of restored wetlands, this place is an environmentalist’s paradise just waiting to be discovered. Home to over 1,000 species of plants and animals, this area showcases the unique southern ecosystem in all its glory. Make time for a tranquil walk through the forests, take an off-road buggy tour to learn more about the area, or catch a movie under the stars - the choice is yours! Whatever you choose to do, there’s no doubt it’ll be great. Relax! When touring, one of the best ways to get to know the area is by visiting a local market. Take advantage of the beautiful springtime weather and l like a local at Winter Park Famers’ Market. Held every Saturday afternoon, this place is known for purveying a wide array of organic veggies, artisan cheeses, and locally sourced honey. Although you probably won’t be taking home any produce, there are a lot of food and art vendors to choose from. Dive into the crowds, soak up the atmosphere and grab some lunch! If you’re looking to take a break from all of the buzz, why not head to the mall? Since its opening in 2002, the Mall at Millenia has become an Orlando favorite for spending some quality family time and slipping in all of that much-needed retail therapy. Located just south of downtown, the mall has over 150 stores to choose from, ranging from high-end luxury and in-demand brands to high-street stores. Whether you’re looking to browse, pick up some souvenirs for your loved ones back home, or just sit back and relax, this place has all you need for a bit of downtime. Set along the eastern coastline, Orlando is not a place to hole up indoors. The area caters to all types of travellers, and there are plenty of opportunities to discover something new.
