Though the area is perhaps best known for Disney World, you may be surprised by the myriad of fantastic attractions and points of exploration on offer. Trust us when we say, you’ll never run out of things to do here. Whether you’re looking to visit Magic Kingdom, make a splash at Island H20 Water Park, or spend a relaxing day ambling through the Disney Wilderness Preserve, there’s a little something for everybody here. Another one of our favorite things to do in Kissimmee is visit Fun Spot America. Though it isn’t quite as famous as some of the area’s other amusement parks, this place more than holds its own with a wide variety of unique rides and games to choose from. With over 20 exciting attractions, the fun just keeps on coming. For thrillseekers, excitement awaits you as you drop from 300 feet on the world’s tallest rollercoaster. This spot is also great for kids, offering old-time classics like bumper cars and a Ferris wheel. Bringing the charm and nostalgia to the theme park, this place is sure to put a smile on your face.

Kissimmee is known as a total hub of fun and entertainment – and it sure doesn’t disappoint! As the area’s most popular entertainment district, Old Town provides the ultimate amusement park experience. Boasting everything from killer dining and shopping experiences to live music events and car shows, you’ll never run out of things to do here. Still, what’s perhaps most charming about this place is that it seeks to offer a classic recreation of Old-Florida town; walking through the area, you’ll be able to notice the historic architecture and distinctive storefronts. A favorite for locals and visitors alike, this spot is not to be missed!

Try Something Different

Sure, we know that Kissimmee has a lot to offer in the amusement park department. Still, if you want to get to know the area a little better, there are plenty of interesting hidden gems and points of exploration to be uncovered. Completed in 1943, the Monument of States serves as a mark of American unity following the attack on Pearl Harbour. This creative outdoor installation is made up of 1, 500 stones from all over the United States, with messages inscribed into them – it even includes one from Franklin D. Roosevelt himself! This makes for a quick stop, meaning that you’ll have some time to explore the local area.

Since Florida is well-known for its beautiful weather, it may come as no surprise to you that the area is home to some of America’s most wondrous green spaces. Learn Something New Whilst Orlando may best be known for its famous theme parks, it’s also home to some wonderful cultural institutions perfect for those with curious minds. Founded by a group of art enthusiasts in 1924, the Orlando Museum of Art is a total must-see for all creative types. The establishment’s evolving collection of over 2,400 works includes everything from Contemporary Art to that of Ancient Americas. Upon entrance, visitors can enjoy exciting exhibitions covering everything from fine art and avant-garde sculpture to classical paintings. Look out for seminal pieces by Georgia O’Keeffe, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Andy Warhol. Another one of our favorite solo activities for the city is visiting the Orlando Fire Museum. For firefighting fanatics and history lovers alike, the institute seeks to present the history of the city’s fire division in an interesting and educational manner. Walking through the museum is a fascinating experience; you’ll be able to spot differences in technology and design as you move each era. Amongst the institute's permanent collection, you can view antique tools and apparatus from as early as the 1900s. Still, the museum’s main draw is its impressive collection of vintage fire engines, showcasing how much things have changed. As intriguing as it is unique, we love this place because it’s impossible to leave without having learned something new. Have Fun Outdoors Since Florida is famed for its beautiful weather, it will come as no shock that Orlando is home to many lush green spaces. If you’re looking to spend some time in nature, look no further than Harry P. Leu Gardens. Years ago, the Leus travelled the world, bringing back a wide variety of exotic plants to fill the park. Thankfully, the garden still flourishes due to Florida’s subtropical climate, and is open for everyone to visit all year round! Covering over 50 acres, the garden features a tropical rain forest, a formal rose garden, a butterfly garden, and more. In addition, there are permanent and rotating art exhibits, and a historic home open for viewing. Whether you're looking to have a picnic or soak up the sun, this place has it all. If strolling through stands of artisanal cheese and raw honey sounds good to you, then don’t worry – we've got you covered! Taking place every Saturday, the Winter Park Farmers’ Market is a total favorite for locals and visitors alike. Though this event is well-recognized for its fresh produce, its real draw is its many food purveyors, offering a wide variety of dishes from across the globe. Don’t miss out on hot chicken pot pies or Jamaican patties fresh from the oven, all washed down with a large glass of beer. Still, that isn’t all there is to see here. Walking around the market, you’ll find everything from souvenirs and trinkets to original art and jewellery. Bundle up for a movie at AMC, dive into draw-a-character classes at The Art of Disney, or burn off extra energy at the awe-inspiring Splitsville Luxury Lanes bowling alley.  Best of all, parking and entry are free. You’ll leave with happy taste buds, shopping bags, and perhaps a few new moves from a spontaneous salsa demonstration on the green.  Live Music at Tin Roof Orlando: Sing, Dance, Repeat  No night out is complete without a little live music, and Tin Roof Orlando nails the vibe with its rollicking mix of bands, local solo acts and high-energy open mic nights. Nestled in the heart of ICON Park, this Nashville-style bar serves up cold drinks and hot tunes late into the night.  What sets Tin Roof apart? Every night serves up different flavors—sometimes it’s toe-tapping country, other times it’s powerhouse rock covers or crowd-pleasing pop. The stage is center spotlight, surrounded by quirky décor and an easygoing, anything-goes crowd. Don’t be surprised if you end up on your feet, dancing with folks you just met.  Food-wise, Tin Roof keeps things hearty and southern, with standouts like the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich (spicy, crunchy, and oh-so-addictive), or loaded tater tot baskets to soak up the fun.  If you want a taste of Orlando’s local music scene, this is your front-row ticket. Boasting over 20 rides and attractions from the pretty tame to the super scary, this place has a little something for everybody. Adrenaline junkies will love Ko’okiri Body Plunge, a thrill ride which a whopping 125-foot drop. For those want to play it safe, rides like the Taniwha Tubes and Maku Puihi Round Raft Rides are exhilarating without testing our fear to its very limits. The park also has a beach area and even cabanas to relax under. Whether you’re looking to get your pulse racing or just want to soak up the sun, this place truly has it all. Get in Touch With Nature Orlando’s nature reserves are some of the most interesting in the country, with thousands of acres of swamps and wetlands just waiting to be explored. Located just south of the city, the Disney Wilderness Preserve offers a considerate and ecofriendly way to view animals in their natural habitat. Part of Everglades National Park, the reserve presents a completely unique ecosystem, which is not currently seen anywhere else on the planet! The best way to start the weekend in Orlando is by heading over to the Winter Park Farmers’ Market.
