What you'll do
Step into the heart of Rome’s religious history with a visit to the Basilica of St. John’s Lateran and its serene Cloister.
You’ll catch a glimpse of Rome’s ecclesiastical heritage, which blends art, architecture, and spirituality. St. John Lateran Basilica is one of the most significant Catholic churches in the world, with a beautiful interior adorned with magnificent sculptures, mosaics, and artwork. Look up and admire the monumental frescoes that decorate the nave and side chapels.
The building features the Papal Altar, where only the Pope can celebrate Mass. In the Basilica, there are also relics of St. Peter and Paul.
The Cloister, a square courtyard that dates back to the 13th century, with its medieval architecture, intricate frescoes, and Romanesque arches, is next to the Basilica.
Surrounded by beautiful porticoes, the Cloister was designed to be a place of reflection and a spot to take a moment away from the hustle and bustle of Rome.
