What you'll do

Delve beneath Piazza Navona and discover its significance in Ancient Rome on this audio-guided tour.

Explore the Domitian Stadium, the first masonry stadium in Ancient Rome. Five metres below street level, you’ll see the scale of this majestic structure, which was Rome’s first permanent venue for competitive athletics.

Learn about the different Roman sports and entertainment, and see the historic track and sections of seating. Imagine you’re an ancient spectator in the days of gladiators and chariot races, listening to the echoes of the roaring crowd.

Informative panels demonstrate the stadium’s grandeur and meticulous construction, from travertine blocks to brickwork and marble columns.

Compare rare photographs to see how Piazza Navona has changed throughout the years.

Today, Piazza Navona is a majestic square synonymous with Rome and its artistry and architecture. In the square, you can see Bernini’s Fountain of the Four Rivers, which was designed in Ancient Rome and inspired by the Stadium of Domitian.

At the end of your tour, you’ll watch a 30-minute immersive video, which gives you a more detailed view of famous sights during the Roman Empire.
