Become a Roman gladiator for the day at Roma Park, just outside Rome. Set in five acres of woodland and Roman countryside, this fun theme park contains a traditional legionnaires’ camp, an open-air market, a tavern and a gladiatorial arena.

Watch ancient gladiators in combat before donning the traditional sandals, loincloth and helmet and having a go yourself. There’s also a chance to hone your archery skills on the shooting range.

You can shop for traditional wares among the stalls of the ancient market, marvel at soaring eagles, hawks and oils in the Birds of Prey Arena, and tuck into food fit for a gladiator in the Taberna restaurant.

Kids will love the petting farm, where feeding sessions and donkey rides give a feel for how the Ancient Romans lived two millennia ago. The Magic Forest is a wonderland of sound, music and twinkling lights and there are hectares of woodland for little adventurers to explore.

Coming later in 2023, you’ll even be able to visit the set of the original Ben Hur movie and challenge your friends and family to a thrilling chariot race in the famous arena.
