Things to Do in London Easter Weekend 2017 - Easter Egg Hunts & More

The Easter bank holidays are often a good opportunity for families or couples to take a vacation. Even if you’re coming from a place where you don’t have an accompanying spring break like some school districts, you’re likely to have a nice long weekend with Good Friday off. If you’re planning on traveling to London during Easter Weekend this year, check out our list of top things to do in town during that period. This year, Easter Weekend falls on April 14-17, 2017 and many locals will have a nice long time off (from April 8 – 23, 2017). A few of our favorite activities and attractions to enjoy during this holiday weekend include:

Tall Ships Regatta

This special event, taking place from April 13 – 16, 2017 in nearby Greenwich, is a festival of fun waterfront activities the whole family will enjoy. Take a gander at these magnificent Tall Ships, historic vessels with some serious flair. You can board one of the ships, watch a fireworks display, and see the Parade of Sail (at 5:00 pm on April 16), as the ships depart for Canada. You could also choose to hop aboard a specialty fireworks cruise for a different view. Getting In: It’s free to watch the Tall Ships Regatta. If you opt for a fireworks cruise, those are separately ticketed and not included with the London Explorer Pass®.

St. Paul’s Cathedral

As one of the most significant architectural landmarks in the entire city, it’s also an ideal place to visit for people who love art, architecture, and history. Wander around with the help of multimedia tablets, or join in a guided tour. There are many facets of this cathedral to explore, from tombs to galleries and beyond. London Zoo

Home to over 700 unique species, this zoo is educational and exciting for all visitors. Enjoy keeper talks, special demonstrations, interactive exhibits, and much more on your visit. London Eye River Cruise

This 40-minute tour is a great sightseeing opportunity that provides a distinctive perspective on the many riverside attractions. Some of the highlights of your cruise include Big Ben, the aforementioned St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Tower of London, and of course, the London Eye. Get out your phones for those perfect pictures! Royal London Bike Tour

Hop-on Hop-off Bus Tour

This is right about the time of year when everything starts to blossom, covering gardens and greenspaces with an explosion of vibrant color. While you may think that urban London doesn’t have much in the way of spring blooms, however, you’re totally wrong. Visit one of the city’s many gardens to see these magnificent blooms this Easter weekend. From the humble, indigenous flowers to exotic flora, there’s much to see at venues like Kensington Gardens, Kew Gardens, and the Chelsea Physic Garden. WWT London Wetland Centre: Easter Duck Hunt

Kids will relish the opportunity to participate in some good old fashioned Easter fun away from home. Pay a visit to the delightful London Wetland Centre for a chance to see the bloom of springtime, encounter baby creatures everywhere, and feel the fresh breezes. From April 1 – 17, 2017, guests have the opportunity to help the Centre find some missing ducklings! Follow the Easter GIANT Duck Trail around the nature reserve to discover the missing duckies. Then, enjoy an arts & crafts session to make your own springtime creations. Jurassic Kingdom at Osterley Park

Dinosaur fans of all ages will love Jurassic Kingdom. From April 1 – 17, 2017, it takes over the charming Osterley Park and transforms it into a dinosaur paradise. Animatronic dinosaurs dot the landscape in over 30 exhilarating installations, although some may be hidden in the landscaping. Kids will love searching for hidden dinosaurs, excavating a fossil site, and learning all about these popular creatures. There are also a number of food and drink vendors to keep you fueled.
