The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, as it’s officially known, is one of the 20th century’s most significant and unusual architectural structures. It's a work of art filled with works of art.
Wander through the impressive permanent galleries and become awe-struck by the top-notch collection of gorgeous art. The Guggenheim is home to the works of Cézanne, Gauguin, Manet, Monet, Picasso, Pissarro, and Renoir. From Impressionist and Post-Impressionist, to sculpture and the Avante Gardes, this museum is an art-lover’s paradise.
Permanent collections at the museum include the Guggenheim Collection: Brancusi and The Thannhauser Collection. You'll also find plenty of exciting temporary exhibits, audio guides, and a host of helpful Gallery Guides on hand to answer your queries.
Once you’ve had your fill of the art works, head to Café 3 for a bite to eat and admire the view over Central Park. Or if you’ve worked up more of an appetite you can dine in The Wright and admire the installation by artist Sarah Crowner.
Frank Lloyd Wright was commissioned to build the museum in 1943, but it took 16 years for his design to come to fruition.
The museum holds nearly 600 works of art.
