    Intrepid is a celebrated WWII vessel,  famous for having survived five kamikaze attacks and a torpedo strike, it later served in the Cold War, the Vietnam War, and as a NASA recovery vessel.

    Explore the Museum’s collection of historical artifacts and exhibitions spanning over 150,000 square feet. Get an up-close look at the space shuttle Enterprise and 28 aircraft, including the world’s fastest military jet. Enter Growler, the only guided missile submarine open to the public. Climb into a real Bell 47 helicopter and land a space shuttle in the Exploreum.

    The Intrepid Museum and Space Shuttle highlights

    Intrepid – you’ll get to see more than two dozen authentically-restored aircraft on the Flight Deck, tour the combat information center, see the living quarters, and experience what life was like for more than 50,000 men who served on board. You'll also learn about the ship’s history through interactive exhibits in the Hangar Deck.

    Enterprise – check out the Space Shuttle Pavilion and see Enterprise, the prototype NASA orbiter that pioneered the early United States spaceflight programs, Mercury and Gemini. This interactive exhibit features artifacts, photographs, audio, and films that explore the triumphs and tragedies of the space shuttle program.

    Growler – climb aboard the only American diesel-powered strategic missile submarine for a first-hand look at what life was like on the vessel and it's once 'top secret' missile command center. You’ll get to see the Crew’s Mess dining/recreation room, the control room and attack center, and the torpedo rooms that were intended for use as self-defense.

    British Airways Concorde – take a tour inside the fastest commercial aircraft to ever cross the Atlantic Ocean breaking the record by clocking in at just two hours, 52 minutes, and 59 seconds. No longer in operation, these fleets were once the only operational supersonic passenger transportation in the world and the transportation of choice of the rich and the famous.

    Engage with hands-on exhibits and enthralling displays that traverse the complex landscape of the Cold War, groundbreaking NASA space expeditions, and the United States' naval dominance.
