Travel to the depths of the Pacific Ocean without getting wet on the National Geographic Encounter: Ocean Odessey. Measuring 60,000 square feet, this first-of-its-kind interactive cinematic experience was created by a team of Academy, Grammy®, and Emmy® award-winning artists. You'll use live audience-tracking technology to interact with virtual sea lions, rays, dolphins, and other sea life with photo-real animation, touch screens, holograms, and games.
This immersive journey starts with a guided tour, where you’ll experience an underwater battle between two Humboldt squid and explore a coral reef at night. You'll then swim through a kelp forest before getting up close with a life-sized 50-foot humpback whale.
Once you’ve got your breath back, you’ll head to the Exploration Hall to hear the stories of the National Geographic photographers and deep-sea explorers. Find out more about what you can do to protect the habitat of these amazing sea creatures.
The 45-minute, interactive ‘underwater’ experience will take you deeper into the waters and closer to the creatures than ever before to interact with a variety of animals. Get disoriented by a swirling fish bait ball, watch a pod of dolphins chase away an aggressive predator, get caught up in a battle of epic proportions between two Humboldt squid, and more in this life-like ocean simulation.
The ‘above water’ experience features informative exhibits, displays and interactive holograms that educate you on all of the animals you encountered in the underwater experience. Learn about the creatures, their environment, and how you can help protect their habitats.
