• Naval battles used to take place in the Colosseum. They used to remove the arena’s wooden floors and fill the grounds with water so spectators could watch the ships in action. 
• The southern side of the Colosseum collapsed in a massive earthquake in 847.
• Legend has it that the founder of Rome, Romulus, and his twin brother, Remus, lived on Palatine in a cave and were raised by a she-wolf. This is famously depicted in a bronze Capitoline Wolf statue that can be visited at Rome’s Capitoline Museum.
