Best Hotels in Chicago 2019

In a bustling city like Chicago, there’s no shortage of lodging options to choose from. Whether you’re looking for high-end bespoke luxury hotels or a cozy, budget-friendly hostel, you’ll find plenty of places to stay in Chicago. Sometimes, however, we all want to enjoy something a little extra special on our vacations. To take that next step on your next trip to Chicago, check out one of these nominations—our choices for the best hotels in Chicago for 2019. They’re not always the fanciest (read: most expensive) hotels in a given neighborhood, but they are the best in our book for amenities and proximity to attractions. We’ve organized the hotels by city neighborhood, too, so you can decide where you want to stay in part based on what you’d like to do while you’re in Chicago. Magnificent Mile

The Peninsula Chicago

A luxe indie offering, the Peninsula is designed to recreate that famed Art Deco style while still remaining ultra-modern in concept and space. They boast a full-service spa and a delectable Chinese restaurant on-site (arguably one of the best in the city), as well as plenty of other little luxuries. They’re also within easy walking distance of some top-notch shopping, plus the always-exciting Museum of Contemporary Art.

Four Seasons Hotel Chicago

This family-friendly luxury hotel is designed to honor the arts—with that in mind, they design their suites and rooms to showcase works of art and even have an on-site art gallery. Families with children will appreciate the teen spa, a kids’ club, and the indoor pool. It’s also near Oak Street shopping, adjacent to (and actually connected to) the 900 North Michigan Shops, and is within a quick walk of 360 CHICAGO.

The Waldorf Astoria

You can’t have a collection of the best hotels in Chicago 2019 without including this legendary hotel. Although the interior design evokes Paris in the 1920s, this chic hotel is anything but dated. Enjoy an on-site spa (including a nail salon) and a luxurious indoor pool. It’s within a short walk of the Magnificent Mile and Oak Street Beach, as well as one of the pick-up points for popular tours like the hop-on hop-off tour from Big Bus.

River North

The Langham Chicago

Located at the very bottom of State Street right before you hit the river, the Langham is the epitome of Chicago luxury. This five-star hotel features an enviable spa and a restaurant with the best tea service in the city. It’s also right near the Wrigley Building and Tribune Tower, sights you’d see on an excursion like an Architecture River Cruise. The Ritz-Carlton Chicago: A sumptuous luxury option with unparalleled lake views, this high-end mainstay features stunningly beautiful rooms and suites (some of which even encompass two floors or full kitchens). They’re particularly known for their food and drink offerings, including a brasserie and a rooftop bar. You’re within a brief walk of the Water Tower shopping mall, as well as the gorgeous Driehaus Museum. You’ll get great views of nearby Navy Pier from your window, too.

Loews Chicago Hotel

A little more affordable than some of our other suggestions, this hotel is no less luxurious than its peers. In keeping with Chicago’s international culinary scene, their on-site restaurant serves up Argentine fare. They also boast a full-service spa and kid-friendly amenities like movie nights. This is a brand-new offering within a five-minute walk of Navy Pier (where you can pick up many lake cruises), the Magnificent Mile, and Millennium Park. The Loop

Chicago Athletic Association

This unique hotel is actually a historic landmark. It was originally built in the late nineteenth century as a men’s sporting club and has since been renovated into a luxury, sports-themed hotel. In addition to themed décor, you’ll also find a game room in keeping with their vibe, plus five different restaurants and bars. Nearby attractions include the Art Institute of Chicago and everything Millennium Park has to offer.

The Palmer House

Although this historic hotel is now operated by Hilton, it’s lost none of its indie charm. It’s been the site of significant events in Chicago history—for one, every president since Ulysses Grant has slept or dined at this fine establishment. The interior aesthetic is grand upon grander, with high vaulted ceilings, gold painted trim, and marble everything. You’re right near the Chicago Symphony, across from the Art Institute, and a few blocks south of the American Writer’s Museum.

Renaissance Blackstone Hotel

Once home to Al Capone’s barbershop, this Beaux-Arts hotel has been restored to evoke that early twentieth-century aesthetic while also embodying modern luxury. Don’t forget to sample their sumptuous on-site tapas restaurant. You’re also within easy distance of the iconic Museum Campus (including the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and Adler Planetarium).
