Is September a good time to go to Hong Kong?
The best time to visit Hong Kong is from September to April, as you'll experience the best weather overall. Cooler, drier days, without veering into the muggiest, wettest months, will always be good in our books! However, in September, you're kind of riding the line.
Does Hong Kong have a monsoon season?
Why are you riding the line? Well, because Hong Kong's monsoon season runs from May until September. So, while you'll miss the worst of it, there's a chance you could still get caught in some pretty severe showers on your vacation. Don't worry; we've planned for that down below.
Why Hong Kong is very expensive?
The rich: poor divide is quite staggering in Hong Kong, so there are two camps vying for limited housing in what is ostensibly a small city. Both affordable lodgings and more expensive properties are highly sought after, driving prices up across the board.
This can lead to even tourists paying a premium on rented accommodation, so it's always smart to shop around and get the best bang for your buck.

Hong Kong in September: Weather
With highs of 91°F and lows of 75°F, September is a warm and sometimes sunny time in Hong Kong. In fact, on those sunny days, even those with a moderate tan/sun will need to prepare. But don't worry; we cover all that in the 'what to pack' section below.
One thing to bear in mind is that all that September sun and heat come at a cost. That cost is the tail end of Hong Kong's monsoon season. Yes, in a cruel twist of fate, Hong Kong's summers are also their wettest period, and with September the epilogue of those blisteringly hot, downpour-y days, you may well experience them for yourself.
On average, 15 days in September are rain-filled, though that doesn't necessarily mean you'll meet a monsoon. It does, however, pay to be prepared. How? Check the next section and pack for anything!
Hong Kong in September: What to pack
With warm temperatures, high UV ratings, and the chance of rain, you'll want to pack sensibly. T-shirts, summer dresses, and shorts will help you keep cool during the hotter days, and a ton of sunblock, a sunhat, and sunglasses will also ensure you don't burn to a crisp. It's also worth packing a metal water bottle to keep cool water on your throughout the day, as this will hopefully keep away any heatstroke you may encounter.
For the rain, buy or pack a light waterproof and an umbrella. Also make sure you don't bring any water-adverse footwear with you - simple sandals will do the trick, or a pair of trainers you don't mind getting waterlogged.
September Events in Hong Kong: The Mid-Autumn Festival
The Mid-Autumn Festival follows the lunar calendar, so it may fall in September or October, depending on our moon's mood that year. Luck out, and it'll be September when you visit. So, what can you expect at the Mid-Autumn Festival?
Well, a ton of food for starters. Many restaurants will set up stalls outside to serve a myriad of dishes to passers-by. You'll also see street performers in their element, strutting their stuff to music.
But perhaps the best reason to check it out is on Hong Kong Island. Head to Tai Hang Village in Causeway Bay to see a bonafide dragon! Well, really, it's a carefully choreographed dance featuring 300 performers, but it certainly looks like a dragon! It's called the Fire Dragon Dance, and it lights up the night sky like nothing you've ever seen before.
September Events in Hong Kong: Yu Lan Cultural Festival
Another cultural landmark in September is Hong Kong's Yu Lan Cultural Festival. Roughly translated to "hungry ghost," it's a festival where locals celebrate their ancestors.
For you? Well, it's a full-on fun fest. Head to Victoria Park to find live performances, workshops, and even some high-tech art on display. And, if you're feeling especially cultural, you can take part in some live-action roleplay and live out all your hungry ghost fantasies. Because who hasn't dreamed of being a hungry ghost? Anyone?
