There are lots of popular hotels located just off the Strip so finding one to suit your needs is easy, plus, nightly rates tend to be a bit lower all things equal. Expanding your search beyond the Strip adds a lot of options for other accommodations such as AirBnB and VRBO as well, though they tend to fill up fast so be sure to plan well in advance.

Things to know and consider before you book

  • Downtown Las Vegas and the Strip are not the same thing. The Strip is a 4 mile stretch of hotels, casinos, clubs, shops, and more along S. Las Vegas Blvd. Downtown Las Vegas is a little bit north of the Strip.
  • Shop around and look for promotions for Las Vegas hotels on budget travel sites or call before booking to see if the hotel is running or planning to run any promotions.
  • Consider amenities that save money when booking, such as airport shuttle service, pool access, a kitchenette, free parking, etc. when comparing hotel costs.
  • Plan your trip and things to do in Las Vegas before booking a hotel to help you decide which amenities you don't need and what location will be the most convenient. You might find that paying a little extra to be right on the Strip is worth it.
