Vegas Sunsets: Where to Catch Sin City’s Most Colorful Skies

beautiful sunset over vegas

Las Vegas does plenty of things brilliantly, but few hit the wow-factor quite like sunset. Whether you want to see the city’s lights blink on across the Strip, find a quiet moment in the mountains, or ride high above it all, we’ve gathered the sunset spots that give you the best show in town. We’re sharing cinema-worthy skyline backdrops, secret park benches, and can’t-miss nightlife experiences to slot into your perfect Vegas evening—because those last rays paired with neon lights will definitely upgrade your holiday snaps.

Our favorite spots for sunset views in Las Vegas:

  • The High Roller Observation Wheel

  • The Tower at The STRAT

  • Red Rock Canyon Overlook

  • Eiffel Tower Experience

  • Fly LINQ Zipline

  • Valley of Fire State Park

  • Bellagio Fountains & Promenade

  • Papillon Helicopter Night Flight

  • Lake Las Vegas & Reflection Bay

  • Springs Preserve Botanical Garden

The High Roller Observation Wheel

Nothing spells out “Vegas at sunset” quite like a slow spin on the High Roller. As the tallest observation wheel in North America, it lifts you over 500 feet—the sweet spot when that golden light floods the Strip and shadows dance across the Nevada desert. Step into a roomy, air-conditioned pod with 360-degree windows, and you’ll be treated to a gentle, 30-minute rotation just as the city morphs from sun-soaked to neon.

What makes it special? The vibe up here is as chill or as festive as you want. Some pods come with a bartender (yes, for real), so you can sip a signature cocktail, toast your crew, and count the wedding chapels blinking on as the sun dips behind the Spring Mountains. You’ll spot icons like the Bellagio fountains and the shimmering lights of downtown. Pro tip: Book your ride to start 20-30 minutes before sunset, so you soak up the changing colors and see Vegas flip the switch from day to night. Whether you’re photographing, celebrating, or just soaking it all in, High Roller is pure magic for your golden hour.

The Tower at The STRAT

If you want front-row seats to Vegas’s daily sky show, head straight to the top of The STRAT. This observation deck sits 1,149 feet above the Strip and offers open-air platforms and indoor lounges perfect for catching big-sky color shows. As dusk sets in, watch the city stretch out beneath you in all directions—the mountains glowing pink, the casino lights beginning to twinkle.

Why do we keep coming back? The vibe is casual but wow-worthy, and thrill-seekers can take things to another level (literally) with the rides up top. Imagine sunset selfies before launching yourself on the SkyJump, or sipping a cold drink from the 108 Drinks lounge while the sun slides behind the horizon. It feels like a slice of old-school Vegas—nostalgic and just a little bit wild—mixed with serious panoramic views. You’ll leave with phone memory full and a new perspective on the city.

Red Rock Canyon Overlook

Trade neon for nature and drive 30 minutes west to Red Rock Canyon, where the landscape glows fire-orange at sunset. The best part? It’s perfectly easy to catch: just head for the designated overlook on State Route 159 (you don’t even need to enter the main park). The sandstone cliffs and desert flora light up in pinks, golds and, sometimes, smoky purples.

Why is this a must-do? You get space to breathe and wide-open views that feel completely different from the Strip. Bring a picnic or a cold drink, hop back in your car when it’s done, or stay a little longer for stargazing after dark. The vibe? Peaceful, photogenic and worlds apart from the bustle of Vegas, but still close enough for dinner plans afterward.

Eiffel Tower Experience

Got a thing for romance or Paris vibes? The Eiffel Tower Experience at Paris Las Vegas puts you 46 stories above the Strip, with the city’s sunset colors stretched out beneath you. Ride the glass elevator up, grab your camera, and pick your favorite view—toward the Bellagio fountains, across the Strip, or straight out to the mountains. As daylight fades, the tower’s lights twinkle on, and the whole city transforms.

The atmosphere is effortlessly glam but relaxed—think couples holding hands, families snapping group selfies, and everyone catching their breath when the sky goes orange. It’s easy to linger as the city switches from gold to neon. For added flair, snag a table at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant below for classic French cuisine with floor-to-ceiling windows—try the Grand Marnier soufflé and a glass of bubbly to keep the sunset spirit going all evening.

Fly LINQ Zipline

Looking for a sunset adrenaline rush? Glide above LINQ Promenade and the crowds below on the Fly LINQ Zipline as the Strip’s neon and the evening sky collide. Zip from a 12-story tower, breeze past the High Roller, and feel the rush as the city blazes to life beneath your feet. You’ll hit 35 miles per hour—all in spectacular, golden light.

Here’s why it’s special: You’ll never find another Vegas view quite like this, especially as the sun slips down. You get high-fives at the finish and plenty of Instagram-worthy footage. After your zipline ride, wind down with a drink or a bite at Sweet Sin Bakery & Cafe at The LINQ (the mango mousse and iced Vietnamese coffee? Top tier), then stroll the lit-up promenade for full Vegas-at-dusk atmosphere.

Valley of Fire State Park

Go out of town a bit and you’ll discover Nevada’s most dramatic sunset views, just an hour northeast at Valley of Fire. The ancient red sandstone formations here light up as if they’re actually glowing—no filter needed. Drive in for a late afternoon hike through the Fire Wave or Elephant Rock trails, then settle in at one of the main parking areas as the sky explodes in fiery shades.

What makes this experience stand out? It’s a pure, nature-soaked adventure—a world away from slot machines but still totally doable as a side trip. The air is crisp, the crowds thin out at dusk, and the landscape looks straight out of a sci-fi movie. Pack water, snacks and your camera, and bring a friend or two for something genuinely memorable and off-the-beaten-path.

Bellagio Fountains & Promenade

For a classic Strip sunset, pick the Bellagio Promenade. The sun dips behind the Strip’s towers just as the fountains put on their musical show every half hour each evening. The effect? Water sparkling, colors shifting, and everyone around you in the mood to celebrate.

It’s a low-key spot to snap pics or enjoy a slice of Vegas glam without any ticket needed. Grab a gelato or espresso from one of the café stands, claim a spot by the balustrade, and cue up your favorite playlist. As the sky shifts, watch the energy build up for nighttime in Vegas. It’s simple, free, and a little bit magic.

Papillon Helicopter Night Flight

Nothing screams once-in-a-lifetime sunset like a Strip helicopter ride. Papillon’s evening flights take off just as the city catches its golden glow—all glimmering lights, pink skies, and wow-factor photo ops. The vibe is pure VIP: headsets for narration, huge windows, and a close-up look at Vegas icons from above.

The experience turns every birthday, anniversary, or travel win into an event. You get to see the Red Rock cliffs in the west catch those last rays, then sweep down the Strip as it flickers to life. The ride’s both exciting and strangely peaceful, and long after you’re back on the ground, you’ll be revisiting that sunset glow on your camera roll.

Lake Las Vegas & Reflection Bay

Want to escape Vegas hustle for sunset but stick close to the city? Head to Lake Las Vegas, a Mediterranean-style resort neighborhood just 25 minutes from downtown. Reflection Bay Beach offers paddle boarding at dusk and sandy spots for a sunset picnic. Watch the sky shimmer on the water, with mountain silhouettes in the distance and the soft sound of live music from nearby restaurants.

It’s slower, quieter, and feels like a mini-vacation within your trip. Claim a table at Luna Rossa (the brick-oven pizza and lakeside wine list are standouts), or just stroll the promenade. Bonus: the area sometimes hosts free lakeside concerts at sunset, so check event listings ahead if you want to catch some tunes as the sky shifts to twilight. Lake Las Vegas is where you combine that dreamy vacation energy—a little breeze, glittering water, gentle chatter from the waterfront—with a gorgeous light show you don’t need tickets for. Whether you’re paddle boarding, lingering over a plate of pasta, or simply watching the reflections, this spot is all about slowing down and soaking it in.

Springs Preserve Botanical Garden

If you’re craving natural beauty without leaving Las Vegas proper, stop by the Springs Preserve Botanical Garden around sunset. Just a short drive from downtown, this oasis packs in walking trails, cactus gardens, wildlife and colorful blooms soundtracked by birdsong—not to mention plenty of benches with westward views. As golden hour approaches, the gardens feel almost enchanted. The desert plants take on deep, rich hues in the fading light, and the temperature drops to that perfect, comfortable level.

We recommend strolling the winding paths as the sun goes down, maybe pausing at the beautifully designed Desert Living Center. Every corner offers a new perspective: palm silhouettes, wildflowers, and glassy water features reflecting the fiery sky. It’s an unbeatable spot for photography—or just for soaking in the peaceful vibe at day’s end. Families, couples, and anyone looking for a nature boost will appreciate how easy (and gorgeous) the Springs Preserve makes sunset in the city.

Ready to chase the sun in Las Vegas? Each of these spots turns golden hour into a showstopper, no matter your travel style. Whether you thrill-ride above the Strip, toast the day with a view from the High Roller, wander garden paths, or venture into the desert, Vegas sunsets are memorable in their own unique ways. Set your phone to “sunset alarm,” grab your favorite travel buddies, and let the Strip—and the sky—do the rest.

Things to do in Las Vegas for Pride Day

Las Vegas is as camp as Christmas. This, after all, is the city that has hosted epic residences by some of the planet’s biggest gay icons – Elton John, Celine Dion, Cher, Barry Manilow, Katy Perry, Mariah and Liberace, to name just a few. Sin City’s 24-hour party culture means there’s always a club, restaurant or high-class cocktail bar to get the party started, and who hasn’t dreamt of spending feather boa-clad evenings at the blackjack tables followed by long languid days sipping pina coladas in poolside cabanas? Naturally, then, fabulous Las Vegas is also a fine place to celebrate Pride, with a flamboyant annual parade and festival that could even be said to rival the more famous parties in neighboring San Diego and LA. Better yet, in a bid to dodge the searing desert heat of traditional summer Pride events, Sin City’s official Pride parade and festival takes place in the marginally more bearable climes of October, meaning you can, should you so wish, march for Pride twice in the same year! Here’s what to expect from Las Vegas Pride, and the city’s other hot tickets for LGBTQ+ travelers, in October, in June, and all year round!. Las Vegas Pride Parade and Festival The Las Vegas Pride Night Parade and Festival take place over a single weekend in October. Friday evening sees the weekend get started in earnest as some 30,000 revelers join the party in Downtown Las Vegas. There’s a pre-show from around 6PM, with a parade along 4th Street at 7PM. You can expect all the usual entertainments: eye-poppingly OTT floats (many sponsored by the huge Vegas casino resorts), plus theatrical costumes, drag kings and queens, live music and marching bands. Like pretty much everything else in Vegas, it’s quite the spectacle. The parade finishes close to the Fremont Street Experience, the ultra-modern dining and entertainment complex that’s the jewel in Downtown’s sparkling crown, and where you can expect plenty of Pride-related partying, with cocktails, live music and LED light shows getting the party into full swing. The official Pride Block Party, however, can be found a little further back along 4th Street, featuring food trucks, bars and live performances until late. Entry to the Friday event is free, but you’ll need tickets for the all-day festival at the same location on the Saturday. Kids are welcome to hang out until 7PM but stage shows get a little racy after with acts that are not necessarily recommended for tender young eyes and ears. There’s also a Pride Pets event at Craig Ranch Regional Park on Saturday afternoon, with prizes available for very good (and very well-dressed) doggos. June Pride in Las Vegas Las Vegas is of course fabulous year-round (it even says so on the famous sign!) so – no surprises – the city does also get heavily involved in the global Pride month of June, with unofficial Pride parties and events popping up across town. Some of the best recurring annual shindigs include these absolute must-dos… The Phoenix Bar & Club is one of Sin City’s premier gay bars and hosts a Pride party on the first Saturday every single month of the year. For obvious reasons, June’s is perhaps the biggest of them all. Expect karaoke, drag acts and other surprises. Only the biggest and best LGBTQ+ pool parties in Vegas, Temptation Sundays run weekly at the Luxor through summer, promising go-go dancers, stylish drag queens, live DJs and pool discos! Catch the Las Vegas Men’s Chorus performing their uplifting mix of pop, Motown and musical showtunes. The legendary Queen Las Vegas is the Strip’s only LGBTQ+ bar, restaurant and club. June highlights include karaoke (natch), drag queen performances (of course), ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ viewing parties, and weekend drag brunches. LGBT+ Las Vegas Nightlife The LGBTQ+ nightlife in Las Vegas is wild at just about any time of year, but never more than in June and October, when there are all sorts of Pride-related theme nights going on. We’ve already mentioned the must-visit Queen Las Vegas, with its hedonistic weekend club nights. Celeb fave Piranha offers similarly hi-NRG all-night beats, strobe lighting and exclusive boxes with Strip and dance floor views.  Hit up the Flex Cocktail Lounge, Quadz, Fun Hog Ranch and The Garage for slightly more laid back LGBTQ+ vibes, including theme nights, karaoke, billiards, darts and more. Unleash your inner Nina Simone accompanied by a live pianist at Fremont Street karaoke favorite Don’t Tell Mama. Or mosey over to the Flamingo to catch the rip-roaring theatrical production of RuPaul’s Drag Race Live!, starring a rotating cast of the planet’s most fabulous drag queens. Of course, this barely scratches the surface of the astonishing number (and variety) of LGBTQ+ parties and events held year-round in Sin City. Check the official Las Vegas Pride calendar for all the latest listings. Top Las Vegas Attractions You’re in Vegas, baby! This a city that truly never sleeps, so naturally there’s plenty to see and do here, should you fancy a break from all that partying. Some of our favorite things to do include the below… Seeing the Bellagio fountain lit up in the colors of the Pride flag during the festival. Catch the show every 15 minutes from 7PM. And while you’re there, the Bellagio just happens to have its own fine art gallery and botanical garden, as well as some of the hottest designer shopping in town. There’s no souvenir selfie more fabulous than a snap by the ‘Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas’ sign at the end of the Strip. Get there via the quite excellent Deuce bus service or, heck, hire a pink cadillac and drive there with the top-down for ultimate Instagram bragging rights. You’re spoiled for choice with the proliferation of shows in and around the Las Vegas Strip. Pick from major rock and pop stars, comedians, conjurors, puppeteers and, of course, the famous Blue Man Group and Cirque shows. Choose your own adventure on a Pink Jeep Tour of Vegas – or beyond! Options include Strip deep dives, cruises out to Red Rock Canyon, and even epic round-trips to Death Valley’s Badwater Basin. Get pampered to the max at the Roman baths at Qua Baths & Spa in Caesars Palace, where the 24-carat gold collagen facial massage is just about as decadent as massage gets. Ride the Las Vegas High Roller, currently the second-tallest observation wheel on the planet, for far-reaching views across the glittering city skyline and beyond. Book a private pod with bubbly for the win (and to calm your nerves 550 feet up)! Many of the above attractions and activities are included with a Go Las Vegas pass, which could save you up to 50% when visiting multiple Sin City bucket-listers. Best Las Vegas Souvenirs

Vivaaaaa Las Vegas – so the song goes, a cheesy tune to match the cheesy lyrics. And chances are, reading that line conjured up images of flashing neon signs, feathers, roulette wheels and Elvis in his famous white jumpsuit. Well, you wouldn’t want to go to Vegas and not see all of that, right? Just as you wouldn’t want to go to Vegas and not come home with a tacky souvenir or two – although you’ll be pleased to learn that there are plenty of genuine, high-quality products around as well. Here are our best ideas for your Vegas souvenirs, ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous: Casino gambling chips No doubt you’re planning to have a bit of a flutter in Vegas, and whether that’s playing poker, roulette or slot machines, the sound of chips stacking and falling will become an indelible reminder of your Vegas holiday. Each casino has its own chips, ranging from $1 up to the thousands, and you are allowed to take them with you, so they make a good souvenir if you have some leftover (just keep in mind that they can expire, so maybe cash in any big ones!) Some casinos will let you buy a new one if you ask the cashier, or you can buy customized chips and other items like cards and dice from specialist stores like Spinetti’s. Chocolate Ok, we know it’s not Switzerland or Belgium, but chocoholics may just find their new favorite thing at Bellagio Patisserie, in the foyer of the Bellagio hotel. The café is famous for its treats and delicacies, but the crowds really come to see the world’s largest chocolate fountain, an ever-flowing cascade of milk, white and dark chocolate sending cocoa aromas permeating through the lobby. You can’t sample it, sadly, but you can take home a box of artisan chocolates or macarons. Whether you share them or not, we’ll leave up to you. Blue Man Group drumsticks The Blue Man Group is one of the endearing favorites of the Las Vegas line-up – their color-filled show combining paint and percussion has been delighting audiences in Vegas for more than twenty years. You can take home a great memento from the show – other than a splashed shirt, that is – by buying a set of Blue Man Group drumsticks before the show. Then if you hang around afterwards, the Group comes out to meet the audience and will sign the sticks if you ask them, so you’ll have the perfect personalized souvenir! A mini ‘Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas’ sign It’s one of the most iconic sights in the city and one that every visitor looks for when they first approach the strip – the dazzling, diamond-shaped ‘Welcome to Las Vegas’ sign. This double-backed, internally lit emblem has been there since 1959, with its red and yellow eight-pointed star, ‘welcome’ letters outlined in silver dollars and flashing yellow lights chasing each other around the outside. Visitors can take home their own mini version from any souvenir shop, in the form of a magnet, sticker, mugs, towels, flashing ornaments and just about anything else you can think of. A new spouse Don’t worry, we’re only joking – mostly. If you have been meaning to tie the knot, and you’re a fan of the King, then why not pop by the Graceland Chapel while you’re here? You might even be able to convince people to look at your holiday pics... On the other hand, you could just pick up a trinket from the gift shop – there’s mugs, keyrings, clothing, records and collectibles, instruments, snow globes and of course Elvis bobble heads. Or pick up an authentic Elvis suit – all your theme parties from now on will be sorted! Navajo turquoise jewelry We promised sublime, and this is it. Known as the ‘stone of life’ by the Navajo tribe of Nevada, turquoise has long been valued by local craftsmen as a unique and beautiful component of jewelry and talismans. When the art of silversmithing was introduced to the region around a hundred years ago these two elements were combined, with the result that Navajo silver and turquoise jewelry is some of the most prized in the world. And because varying levels of copper and aluminum deposits in the stones make each piece slightly different, your souvenir will be beautiful, local and totally unique. A podium prize If you’re traveling to Las Vegas with the family you’ll need to find something to do other than sitting in a casino all day – so how about a family go-karting day? At Las Vegas Mini Grand Prix there are four tracks to try out, from the Kiddie Kart track for the little ones up to the Euro High Speed Track for the speed demons in the family. There are also games and an arcade room, and at the end of the day winners can redeem their tokens for a prize of their choice to take home – bragging rights included of course! A group photo with a difference A group photo with a neon sign in the background is all well and good, but let’s face it, it’s not very exciting or interesting. On the other hand, if you’ve got some adrenalin junkies in the group, how about a photo in mid-air? Take a selfie from a ‘limousine of the sky’ on a Las Vegas Strip Helicopter Tour or, if you prefer to get physical, up to ten people at a time can ride the Fly LINQ Zipline, which is a 1,121-foot-long zipline over the streets and signs of the city to the High Roller Observation Wheel at the other end. Afterwards you can purchase a professional photograph of you and your group in mid-flight – a unique souvenir perfect for sticking on the fridge at home. Or if you prefer a video memento, how about a SkyJump from the top of the 108-floor STRAT building? Get more from your vacation with Go City Whether you’re after happy snaps, memorable experiences or just want to shop till you drop, Las Vegas has it all and more. Make sure you’ve got your Go City Explorer or All-Inclusive Pass so you can save time and money while you’re busy enjoying yourself.
