When is New Year's Eve in Las Vegas?

It may sound like a silly question, but New Year's Eve celebrations in Las Vegas tend to stretch from December 30 - December 31, so if you want to make the most of your time, you can get in on the action early.

Where is New Year's Eve in Las Vegas?

You'll find things to do and ways to celebrate all across the city. That's just a little tease, because we need to talk about some dos and don'ts before we explore the Strip's NYE offerings.

Things to remember over New Year's Eve in Las Vegas

We're all for having a good time, but if you're celebrating your first New Year's Eve in Las Vegas, there are some things worth mentioning.

Firstly, from 6AM on December 31 to 6AM on January 1, you cannot hold glass or aluminum containers on Las Vegas Blvd. This is to ensure people stay safe, while limiting the amount of dangerous litter that can accumulate throughout the day.

It's also worth noting that large bags and purses, coolers, luggage of any kind (briefcases, backpacks, or cinch bags), computer and camera bags, strollers, and carts are also banned on the Strip and Downtown.

Even children under 18 are not allowed on the Strip or Downtown throughout this time. And, given the above, you can't even sneak them in with a stroller. All jokes aside, the cops take these rules very seriously, so don't give them any reason to kick you out!

Things to do on New Year's Eve in Las Vegas

Now we've got all the boring - yet necessary - stuff out of the way; let's talk about something fun! What kinds of things can you get up to on New Year's Eve in Las Vegas? Whether you're looking for thrilling sit-down performances, fireworks, clubbing, or otherwise, we've got you covered. Check out our recommendations below!

Blue Man Group

This tireless trio of extraterrestrial entertainers will be at it one New Year's Eve too, bringing their liberally messy sound and color show to the Luxor Hotel & Casino at 2PM, 3PM, and 8PM.

If you've never been to a Blue Man Group show, then you're in for a treat. Landing somewhere between a music performance and an art installation, the three blue-migos combine paint and drums to bring their performance to life. And they also have a 'drumbone', an instrument that's half-drum and half-trombone. It might not make sense now, but when you see it, you'll understand.

It's worth noting that a combination of drums and paint is bound to make a splash. That's why we recommend that you take a waterproof and easily-washable clothes with you. There are dedicated splash zones, where punters are kitted out in stain-free gear, but you should always be wary of splash damage. The Blue Man Group takes no prisoners.

Vegas Strip New Year's Eve Fireworks

If you want to be out and about when the clock strikes 12, then you can't do much better than the New Year's Eve Fireworks. One of the most impressive fireworks displays in the country, you'll join thousands of other explosion-seekers as they gather around the Strip to ring in the new year.

As all eyes are drawn to the sky, a magnificent barrage of fireworks will be fired off from the top of eight casinos surrounding the Strip. Over the course of ten wonderful minutes, over 80,000 fireworks will crack the sky, lighting up the whole of Vegas. But they're not just fired off with reckless abandon. Instead, they're timed to music that will blare out across the crowd. So, if you've never seen a choreographed firework display, you won't want to miss it.

If you get there early, don't worry. The entire Strip becomes a pedestrian-only zone when the sun goes down, turning Vegas into one massive block party. Nice.

Fremont Street Party

If you prefer pyrotechnics at eye level, then you'll find a similar block party at Fremont Street. While it may not boast the bangs of the fireworks on the Strip, it does come with some other exciting bonuses.

For one, you'll see live performances from the likes of Sugar Ray, Bush, Sugarhill Gang, and Julian Marley and The Wailers. Secondly, it being an adults-only party, you're free to revel in all the boozy goodness us adults tend to love.

So, if you aren't bringing the little ones with you and prefer bands over bangs, then check out Fremont Street Party.

STARDUST at Downtown Las Vegas Events Center

If you're an EDM junkie and want to ring in the New Year on a neon-soaked dancefloor, check out STARDUST at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center.

Headlined by none other than the famous disk spinner DEADMAU5, you'll have hours upon hours of boogies to woogie. Doors open at 5PM, and will stay open long into the January night. And if the mouse-headed man doesn't cut it, preceding him are equally funny-named DJs like REZZ, RL GRIME, Ghost RYDR, Marauda, Noizu, and Versa. Very cool.

And that's it! Everything you need to know about New Year's Eve in Las Vegas, all tucked up into one handy guide. Whatever you decide to do, have a happy new year! But why stop there? After the dust has settled and the hangover's dispersed, why not make the most of your trip? Las Vegas’s Top Picnic Hideaways: Sun, Snacks & Scenic Views

Sure, Vegas has casinos, epic food halls and dazzling shows—but sometimes you just want an easygoing feast under the sun. Luckily, the city is packed with secret garden corners, lush local parks and desert hideaways perfect for a laid-back lunch or sunset spread. We’ve hunted down the best picnic spots in Las Vegas, from lush lawns to mountain lakes, so you can swap cards for a checkered blanket, breathe in the desert air and dig into a feast with a view. Ready to chill out? Here’s where to find the best alfresco picnic places in and around Las Vegas.  Our favorite Las Vegas picnic spots include:  Springs Preserve Botanical Gardens  Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area  Sunset Park  Mount Charleston (Spring Mountains National Recreation Area)  Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs  Lake Las Vegas  The LINQ Promenade  Lorenzi Park  Clark County Wetlands Park  Ethel M Chocolate Factory & Cactus Garden  Springs Preserve Botanical Gardens  If you want your picnic with a side of blooming color and peaceful garden paths, head straight for Springs Preserve Botanical Gardens. Just west of downtown, this beautifully managed oasis features themed gardens, shaded benches and grassy areas made for low-key picnics—no sand in your sandwich here! The air feels fresh, thanks to thousands of desert-adapted plants, and there’s a mellow local vibe that instantly puts you in vacation mode.  Pack a spread and find a spot between the rose gardens, native shade trees and gentle fountains. You’ll likely spot a rabbit or some birds as you snack—kids can safely roam open spaces, and there’s a butterfly habitat nearby to check out after lunch. It’s easy to combine your picnic with a stroll along Discovery Trail or a pit stop at the indoor nature exhibits. If you forget your lunch, onsite Divine Cafe serves tasty sandwiches and refreshing drinks for takeaway. Springs Preserve is a perfect pick if you’re craving peaceful green time with all the city perks close by.  Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area  Some picnics just beg for a dramatic backdrop—and Red Rock Canyon’s red cliffs, wildflower fields and high desert views definitely deliver. There are multiple picnic areas along the 13-mile scenic drive, most with covered tables, barbecues and sweeping panoramas that capture what Nevada is all about. If your ideal meal includes massive skies and an excuse to hike afterwards, this is the place to go.  Arrive early to snag a shaded table (especially on weekends), or bring a folding chair for extra flexibility. Rocky Gap and Willow Spring picnic spots both offer great hiking nearby—perfect for working up a sandwich appetite. Good to know: entrance reservations are required for the scenic loop (Oct-May), but spontaneous snacks are encouraged year-round. Just remember to pack out what you bring in, and don’t forget a camera—the views are as tasty as your lunch.  Mount Charleston (Spring Mountains National Recreation Area)  Escape the city heat and head to Mount Charleston, where evergreen pines, crisp mountain air and wildflowers set the stage for a picture-perfect picnic. Just a 45-minute drive northwest from the Strip, this alpine wonderland makes you forget you’re anywhere near a desert. There are over a dozen picnic areas here, including Cathedral Rock (with sweeping valley views), Foxtail and Fletcher View.  Pack a jacket even in summer—temperatures up here sit 20 degrees cooler than Vegas. After a sandwich, stretch your legs on pine-needle walking paths or keep an eye out for wild horses and chipmunks scurrying among the trees. Mt Charleston feels like a vacation within a vacation, and a lunch here is always a breath of fresh air.  Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs  History, wildlife and lush green lawns combine at Floyd Lamb Park, a 680-acre gem in the far northwest valley. A former working ranch, the park now features shady trees, cool fishing ponds and roaming peacocks—yep, actual peacocks. Several picnic areas dot the banks of Tule Springs Lake, so you can dine lakeside while watching ducks paddle by.  The landscape is classic Vegas-meets-countryside, and the tranquil vibe makes it easy to spend an entire afternoon here. Wander the historic ranch area for a taste of old Nevada, visit the barnyard animals or try your luck at catch-and-release fishing. If you’re a birdwatcher (or just like cute critters), bring binoculars for a front-row seat. Over the top of your sandwich, you’ll forget you’re only 25 minutes from the Strip.  Lake Las Vegas  Want waterfront views with your mid-day munchies? Lake Las Vegas is an urban oasis with Mediterranean-style flair—think turquoise water, gentle breezes and grassy lawns dotted with palm trees. Picnic on the public shores north of the village, then stroll through cobbled plazas lined with shops and gelato stands. It’s great for families and couples alike.  After your feast, you can rent a kayak or paddleboard or wander the walking trails along the water. Need a snack reboot? Luna Rossa serves up wood-fired pizzas and killer cannoli—grab one to-go for your blanket or outdoor table if you fancy extending your lakeside stay. For picnickers who love mixing food, fun and that subtle Vegas sense of grandeur.  The LINQ Promenade  For city slickers who want a bustling urban picnic vibe, The LINQ Promenade can’t be beat. This lively pedestrian zone between Flamingo and LINQ hotels is packed with street food stands, sweet treats and shady benches. Share a bite under the sculptural shade trees, or nab a table near the High Roller Ferris Wheel for people-watching with your sandwich.  You could grab picnic supplies from Sweet Sin Bakery & Cafe—don’t miss their rich, decadent cannoli or flaky croissants, a perfect match for a curbside lunch. Complete your adventure with a ride on the High Roller for dessert (the views are fantastic). This spot is ideal for travelers who want a stroll-and-dine experience just steps from the Strip’s buzz.  Clark County Wetlands Park  Looking for something wild? Clark County Wetlands Park, on Vegas’s eastern edge, offers more than 2,900 acres of marshes, flowing water and wildlife-filled trails. Picnic tables nestle along shaded paths near the Nature Center, so you can refuel while herons and rabbits meander by.  The park’s ecosystems attract over 200 species of birds, making this THE pick for nature lovers. After lunch, hit the paved and dirt trails or pop into the Nature Center for hands-on exhibits. The peacefulness is pure therapy after the city’s sensory overload. It’s best in spring and fall, but even summer mornings here feel refreshingly cool.  Ethel M Chocolate Factory & Cactus Garden  Sweet tooths delight in Ethel M Chocolate Factory & Cactus Garden, a combo spot marrying botanical beauty and world-class treats. Just outside the heart of Vegas in Henderson, this spot hits that magical intersection of “gorgeous picnic setting” and “chocolate at arm’s reach.”  The heart of the experience is the three-acre cactus garden, which showcases over 300 species of desert plants. Take a leisurely stroll through winding, shady paths dotted with benches—perfect perches for picnic baskets or grabbing a quiet moment with someone special. The garden feels serene, filled with the subtle scents of desert blooms and the cheerful sounds of visitors chatting or snapping photos. In spring, flowering cacti add bold splashes of color, and the holiday light displays in winter make it a magical evening stop.  Ready for a new side of Las Vegas?   With these picnic spots, the city transforms into a playground of green escapes, lake views and cactus gardens—all as memorable as the Strip, just with a lot more open skies and easygoing charm. Whether you’re packing a homemade feast or collecting treats along the way, you’ll find a Las Vegas picnic escape that’s perfect for your crew. Just bring your appetite, your sense of adventure and maybe a few extra napkins… this is Vegas, after all!    Enjoyed this?
