Griffith J. Griffith, a Welsh immigrant who made his home in Los Angeles, donated land to create Griffith Park and later gifted $100,000 to build the Observatory, though he passed away in 1916 before its 1935 opening.
The observatory has been featured in iconic films like Rebel Without a Cause, La La Land, and The Terminator.

How to get there
The Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) operates daily low cost Observatory/Los Feliz public bus service from the Vermont/Sunset Metro Red Line station to the Observatory. Observatory/Los Feliz service operates daily from 10AM–10PM.
