What you'll do
Enjoy a visit to El Escorial and Valle de los Caídos! You'll depart from Madrid at 8:45 AM in a comfortable bus with an official guide, heading to the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
During the journey, your guide will introduce you to the history and context of the monastery, built in the 16th century by Philip II. Upon arrival, you'll take a guided tour through various areas of the complex, including the Royal Palace, Basilica, and Pantheon of Kings. You'll admire the austere and grandiose architecture of the monastery, as well as its impressive artworks, including paintings by El Greco and Titian.
After visiting El Escorial, you'll head to Valle de los Caídos (Valley of the Fallen), a monumental complex built in the Madrid mountains to commemorate those who fell during the Spanish Civil War. You'll visit the Basilica, an impressive structure carved into the rock, and the outdoor esplanade featuring a massive 150-meter-high cross.
You'll then return to Madrid for free time to have lunch on your own!
