Congo Falls at San Antonio Zoo
Congo Falls is San Antonio Zoo’s most ambitious habitat yet, marking the exciting return of gorillas after more than 30 years. Spanning two acres, this immersive space recreates the lush terrain of an African jungle and features the groundbreaking 70-foot Mays Family Silverback Peak—the first of its kind globally—where gorillas can climb to an elevated lookout with views of the San Antonio skyline and The Ralston event center. Explore waterfalls, roaming areas, and natural climbing structures designed to encourage the gorillas’ instinctive behaviors while offering plenty of great viewing spots.
During construction, crews uncovered limestone from the same quarry used to build the Alamo more than 300 years ago, creating a meaningful connection to local history. More than just an exhibit, Congo Falls highlights the zoo’s commitment to conservation and animal welfare, giving you a memorable opportunity to learn about and connect with these extraordinary animals.
Best of all? Congo Falls is part of the standard Zoo admission included with your pass.
