Attraction is great overall.

The cable car is great overall, but beware of Indians and Pakistanis they don't respect and cut the line to get into the cable car, and the driver does nothing to prevent it or fix the issue after I complain.

El tiquete físico se recoge en el segundo piso de pier 39 en una tienda de nombre The Flyer. Muy simple y rápido el proceso. Luego puedes usar las rutas de bus y tranvías del sistema MUNI. Hay varias líneas que pasan por diferentes lugares de la ciudad, el ayudante del tranvía te pedirá el tiquete y lo raspará con la fecha y día para que solo puedas montar en esa fecha, asi que no lo pierdas. Me gustó la experiencia.

Long waits, but worth the ride

We had a relaxing ride on these historic cable tram cars. This is very good value for money and worth it if you are going to use it for the whole day. Our only grip was the waiting time at some of the stops.

Definitely ride the cable cars when in SF!

Without the MUNI pass, I probably wouldn't have ridde on the San Francisco Cable Cars. It was definitely an experience and one you can only have in San Francisco! They are not the most comfortable or quickest form of public transport but the cable cars are unique. I like the fact they cannot go in reverse and have to be turned round by hand at each terminus - clearly the staff will always have jobs! However, you have to be careful which one you board at Powell Street becuase they go to different destinations. It is also very good that you can use the 1 day MUNI pass on all MUNI transport. I took advantage and went to Golden Gate Park, seeing some of the city away from the centre.

Definitely a fun way to get around. An experience you don't want to miss. Unfortunately it was so busy we didn't get to hang off the sides in the front but it was still an enjoyable experience.

Most Thrilling Ride

I did the iconic Powell-Hyde ride. The line at 5:30 pm on a weekday night at the end of July was still over an hour though with the line wrapping around the metal round gate. You can buy Muni trolley tickets close to the trolley. It is a better deal just to get the 1 day pass. I was fortunate enough to get a spot at the front of the trolley standing on the running boards. Going down or up the steep San Francisco hills, around corners with no safety equipment, just your hands holding onto the poles and the chilly wind whipping your face was one of the most thrilling adventures I have had. I really recommend going to the free Cable Car museum to see the huge wheels pulling the metal ropes that run the cable cars and learning how they work. Nice gift shop there too.
