    The Kennedy Space Center facts

    • The Kennedy Space Center has been the launch site for every U.S. manned space flight since 1968.
    • The complex covers 219 square miles (570 km2) but only 9% is developed because so much of the area is restricted. The area is put to good use though as it's also home to a wildlife sanctuary.
    • The Kennedy Space Center is named after President John F. Kennedy who declared in 1961 that the US would put a man on the moon.
