Spanning over 50 acres and home to 750 different species, this zoo is a must-visit attraction for animal lovers. See alligators, zebras, new baby animals, giraffes, and many more fascinating animals from around the globe.

There’s plenty to do for visitors of all ages here, from hands-on animal feedings to educational talks on conservation. Step into the butterfly garden, hop aboard the San Antonio Zoo Eagle, the zoo’s very own historic train, or take a ride on the Zootennial Carousel.

The zoo offers a fun-packed day whatever your interests and if you need a break there are also plenty of places to grab a refreshing drink or bite to eat. They also run a whole schedule of seasonal events and talks, so check on the website before visiting to make the most out of your trip.

San Antonio Zoo exhibits

Cat Corner – see incredible felines up close including the caracal, clouded leopard, and black-footed cat
Africa Plains – watch rhino, storks, and hoofstock roam this natural limestone habitat.
Savannah – feed giraffes, and get up close to birds, and zebras.
Outpost Amazonia – you won’t want to miss seeing more than thirty species of tropical animals including jaguars, an ocelot, bats, fish, monkeys, and even a sloth.
Big Cat Valley – the highlight of the zoo, see these incredible big cats in their new habitat.
Fun Farm – pet goats and pigs in this hands-on habitat for all ages.
Nature Spot - see frogs, toads, salamanders, and caecilians in this colorful exhibit.

Getting In: Present your pass at the San Antonio Zoo ticket booths to receive a general admission ticket.

Tips for visiting San Antonio Zoo 

• San Antonio Zoo parking is available. Arrive early to get free spaces 
• Outside food or drink is not permitted into the zoo. Exceptions include bottled water, baby food, and formula
• Stroller and wheelchair rentals are available
