Highlights

The Butterfly House Haga Ocean has a lot of exciting sights to offer. See hundreds of free-flying exotic butterflies in our magical rainforest. It is always warm and humid, over 25 degrees, with beautiful plants such as banana plants and hibiscus. You can see turtles, quails (small birds), fish and stingrays. We also have a designated spot for all our butterfly pupae. If you are lucky you might see a butterfly hatch and leave its pupae for the first time.

Inside Haga Ocean you get to experience life under the surface. Gaze into one of Scandinavia&rsquo;s largest shark aquariums. Here you can see blacktip reef sharks, sandbar sharks, colorful fish and shark rays. There are several smaller salt water aquariums with clownfish, tangs, sea stars and much more. Learn about the mythical Great White shark in our exhibition &ldquo;The Great White&rdquo;. There is also a small movie theatre and casts of &ldquo; the giants of the sea&rdquo;.

In the two other parts of the exhibition you can see animals such as poison dart frogs, lizards, koi-carps, giant snails and various types of tortoises.

The Butterfly House Haga Ocean is an exotic oasis in Hagaparken with free-flying butterflies and one of the largest shark aquariums in Scandinavia.

The tour departs from in front of Stockholm&rsquo;s City Hall, so you&rsquo;ll have plenty of time to admire the titan of Kungsholmen island as you cruise out into the bay. This huge and initially austere-looking brick edifice reveals playful elements as you circle around it. Look out for gothic balconies, wooden masts and statues among the turrets and have your camera at the ready for snaps of the soaring tower topped with the Three Crowns, the Swedish national symbol.

You&rsquo;ll cruise past L&aring;ngholmen island, known for its verdant wooded trails, excellent picnic spots and popular sandy beach, and see the Military Academy Karlberg. Its location as part of the sprawling Karlberg Palace complex has remained unchanged since its inauguration in 1792, a world record among military training facilities.

Birger Jarl&rsquo;s Tower in the old town is named for the 13th-century statesman said to have founded Stockholm, though the tower itself was constructed much later, in 1530. This cylindrical monument remains one of the city&rsquo;s most photographed attractions.

During the 19th century the factory was a large scale women&#39;s workplace well known for its beautiful silk shawls worn by women throughout the country. Even today, silk fabrics and ribbons are woven on the original looms.<div>Knut August Almgren opened his silk mill in 1833. After a time as an apprentice in Lyon, France, Europe&#39;s center for silk weaving at the time, he brought back the knowledge of the latest invention in weaving to Sweden, the Jacquard loom.This invention simplified pattern weaving. During his adventures, he also managed to bring some of the Jacquard looms home. His silk weaving mill became an important institution in Sweden and was the biggest workplace for women in Scandinavia, producing silk upholstery for royal households and silk neckerchiefs for the peasantry.The mill moved to Repslagargatan 15 in 1846 and was running until 1974. It’s one of the oldest industrial heritage in its original place in Northern Europe and the factory environment is preserved with the large weaving room with windows facing the courtyard.Floor 3 shows an exhibition about the history of the Silk Factory. Here you can see examples of upholstery fabrics, shawls and ribbons that have been made in the factory and learn about how silk is made.</div>
