Barcelona’s restaurant scene is forever buzzing and growing with new pop-ups, tapas bars and Michelin menus appearing every week. Whilst celebrated Catalan cuisine is high on the list of top eats, the Spanish capital is also packed with some of the best global flavors from late-night tacos to Asian influences.
Whether you’re looking for a quick bite whilst sightseeing or the best of Barcelona’s paella, when it comes to the best restaurants in Barcelona, we’ve got you covered.
Our recommendations for the top places to eat in Barcelona include...
- Last Monkey
- Gat Blau
- Cinc Sentits
- And more!
The lunch menu at Can Ros is as good as it gets when it comes to the city’s cheap eats. For just €15, you can enjoy a weekday three-course menu and drink. Their à la carte options are also worth a browse featuring the seafood tavern’s delicious paella and authentic tapas.
Barcelona has a healthy collection of Mexican restaurants serving fast, cheap and tasty bites. El Pachuco is our favorite, offering top tacos and quesadillas to take out or eat in for under €10.
Taste tapas from Barcelona and beyond at the Last Monkey. The Sant Antoni local serves up excellent Asian and Spanish fusion dishes with Chef Stefano Mazza’s added Italian touch. The menu might not be large but the flavors pack a punch with favorites including steamed pork buns with crunchy bacon, black squid ink curry and a fragrant beef cheek stew.
If you’re looking for a traditional Spanish experience then take a trip back in time to Agut, where Catalan cooking has impressed diners for almost 100 years. Classic Mediterranean dishes include fried squid, grilled sweetbreads and even sausage-stuffed pigs trotters - which believe us are tastier than they sound! And if the menu isn’t traditional enough for you then the 20th-century dining room adorned with galleries of paintings certainly will be.
For tapas with a twist, head to Can Boneta where traditional dishes are brought to life. Hidden off the tourist track, this small local favorite brings to life a menu including fresh ‘salmorejo’, cod confit and honey pork rib chop.
Tiny, barely lit and down a backstreet, Bar Ramón is as classic as it gets when it comes to Barcelona’s tapas scene. The local experience began back in 1939 when Ramón Estalella opened the bar, now run by his grandchildren Yolanda and David. Expect house specials such as chargrilled octopus and rabbit ribs served with cheap wine or red vermouth.
Getting a ticket to Tickets may not be easy but if you’ve planned ahead, don’t miss a chance to dine at this top Barcelona restaurant. Featuring in the top 20 restaurants in the world, this Michelin restaurant serves the top tapas in the city with a side of theatre. Dishes appear, one after the other, each as creative as the next. Then it’s time to disappear into the dessert room for round two.
Enoteca Paco Pérez
With two Michelin stars, Chef Paco Pérez has changed the face of Barcelona’s seafood fayre. The five-star restaurant located in the Hotel Arts serves enticing dishes featuring local ingredients - the most famous of which are the espardenyes (sea cucumbers) with carbonara. Book in advance to dine overlooking a moon-lit Med.

There’s no shortage of innovative cooking in Barcelona but Cinc Sentits may win the award for stimulating all the senses, and not just because of its name. The Michelin-starred restaurant definitely lets the imagination run wild with each dish designed to surprise. Try a tasting menu for the full experience where you’ll enjoy plates such as smoked sweet potato served with quail eggs and hazelnut cream.
