Barcelona’s Dark History Walking Tour in El Raval
Delve into Barcelona’s dark and mysterious past with this guided tour around the hip Raval neighborhood.
What you'll do
This fascinating walking tour reveals the often macabre secrets of Raval’s past. Your tour begins at the Casa de la Misericordia, where it’s said the spirits of orphaned children walk the corridors to this day. Then it’s through the bustling narrow lanes for a tale with real bite at the house of the ‘Vampiress of Raval’.
The imposing old Hospital de la Santa Creu is sure to make you shudder as you wander its eerie grounds, so that your next stop – the Church of Sant Pau del Camp, with its Moorish cloisters and gothic chapter house – may feel like light relief.
As the tour comes to a close, you’ll discover Raval’s southern side. Hear shocking tales of the clubs, cabarets and casinos that used to be the main attractions here a century ago. A few have even survived to the modern day. Raval’s southern side is a great place to see street art, too. Close to a former power factory, you’ll admire colorful graffiti art that is constantly changing. If you’re lucky, you’ll even see street artists in action!
Your walk covers around two miles and lasts two hours, but the terrifying tales you’ll hear will linger long after you return home.
