Puerta de Alcalá
Completed in 1778 during the reign of Charles III, this stunning arch originally served as one of the five royal gates into the city of Madrid and is now an iconic symbol of the city.
Biblioteca Nacional de España
Founded in 1712, The National Library of Spain was founded by King Philip V as a royal repository of books. It houses over 30 million items, including books, manuscripts, maps and music scores.
Palacio de Cibeles
Originally constructed as the headquarters of Madrid's Post and Telegraph offices, the building now serves as the seat of Madrid's City Hall. You can't miss the famous Cibeles Fountain (Fuente de Cibeles) at the foot of the palace which features the Roman goddess Cybele riding a chariot pulled by lions; it's used as a symbol of Madrid's sporting achievements and sports fans gather round it during celebrations!
