This 2-in-1 tour is the best way to explore this beautiful and airy corner of the capital.
You'll start your tour outside the magnificent Palacio Cibeles, the ornately decorated former city post office that now serves as City Hall. Your guide will tell you all about the gorgeous structure and you'll get to wander its grand interior halls before venturing up onto the roof to soak up the view over Madrid. You'll want a camera for this! It's the best spot in the city to photograph the city's main avenue, the Gran Vía.
Next, you'll be led down Calle de Alcalá to the city's great green lung, Parque del Retiro. Designed in the 17th century, the Count-Duke of Olivares designed a space for the recreation of the king and his court and is known to this day for being one of Europe's most stunning metropolitan parks.
Your guide will explain the historical context behind the park’s most outstanding attractions. You can marvel at the size of the Estanque Grande lake (originally intended for the recreation of legendary naval battles!), be dazzled by the beauty of the Crystal Palace, contemplate the Fountain of the Galapagos, or discover the legend of the statue of the Fallen Angel.
At the end of the tour, you can feel free to enjoy the park at your own leisure, reveling in your newfound knowledge and taking a well-earned breather from the city!
