Escape the city and explore the natural beauty of Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park with a one-hour kayak or paddleboard rental. Located along one of Broward County's last undeveloped stretches of coastline, this peaceful park offers a chance to swap busy streets for open water, coastal scenery and fresh sea air.

Choose a kayak or stand-up paddleboard and set off at your own pace. Paddle through calm waterways, take in views of the surrounding coastal ecosystem and enjoy a different side of South Florida. Whether you're looking for a laid-back outing or a more active adventure, it's a fun way to get out on the water and connect with nature.

The park is also an important civil rights landmark, named in honour of Dr. Von D. Mizell and Eula Johnson, whose efforts helped desegregate South Florida's beaches. Today, it remains a welcoming place for visitors to relax, explore and enjoy the outdoors.

Rescheduling or canceling your booking can be done up to 24 hours in advance (refer to your booking confirmation for details).

Getting in

Please show your reservation and scan your pass at the cafe called Whiskey Creek. One form of ID will be held for the entire duration of your rental time. Please make sure to have the ID ready when checking-in.

Park entry fees apply and are not included in your pass. Park fees are paid upon arrival:

$6.00 – 2 to 8-occupant vehicle
$4.00 – single-occupant vehicle
$2.00 – pedestrian

Disclaimer

Vessel Operators must be 14+ to Paddle on their own or if a Paddler is under 14, they must be accompanied by an Adult in a Tandem Kayak or Canoe.

Please note: you must return equipment BEFORE closing time to avoid late fees.

If you end up keeping the equipment past your reservation time, you will be charged the appropriate fees once equipment is returned as specified below.

A late fee of $50.00 per vessel/equipment applies immediately after return. After 30 minutes from specified time, late fee increases to $75.00 per vessel/equipment rented and increases by $75.00 for every additional 30 minutes until equipment is returned.

Rescue/Recovery fees by BG Oleta River Outdoor staff start at $100.00 in addition to any other fees. If BG is unable to rescue, Sea Tow fees start at $350.00. Once you have your equipment and your time has started there will be no refunds or rain checks due to inclement weather.

Visitor tips

The closest public transportation access to the Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park is via Broward County Transit (BCT). BCT Route 4 travels along A1A, and BCT Route 12 runs to the nearby Dania Beach area. You can check Moovit to find exact stop times and connections.
Local Shuttle: The city offers the Dania Beach Community Shuttle (East/West Routes), which is free and connects areas like the Airport Tri-Rail station with local spots, making it easier to navigate.
Last Mile: Because the state park’s entrance is located at the southern tip of Dania Beach along Ocean Drive, the final few miles from the nearest bus stops often require walking or an on-demand rideshare service (like Uber or Lyft) to actually enter the park.
