The Zoo in Miami is home to more than 3,000 animals and over 1,200 plants and trees from its native Florida, as well as Africa, Asia, the Amazon, and Australia. Explore five themed zones and come face-to-face with jaguars, lions, elephants, bears, camels, and many more species from across the globe.
This is among the best places to visit in Miami with the family. There’s just so much to do and see at Metro Zoo in Miami. Along with the animal habitats, there are feedings to watch and zookeeper talks where you can learn about the zoo's conservation efforts and how the animals are cared for.
You can also learn all about animals closer to home in an exhibit focusing on the incredible creatures native to Florida. You'll see black bears, bald eagles, crocodiles, among many others, and get to check out their habitat.
Zoo Miami highlights
Wings of Asia Aviary – this is the largest Asian-themed aviary in the western hemisphere (at over 54,000 sq. ft) and is home to 300 free-flying birds of around 70 different species.
Florida: Mission Everglades – meet some of the incredible creatures that call Florida home. Experience coastal mangrove marshes to vast grasslands, and see North American Black Bears, Bobcats, Bald eagles, American Crocodiles, Roseate Spoonbills, and American Alligators.
Jungle Journey Playground – kids can run around and play in this animal-themed play area. It's half-jungle, half-water park, and a whole lot of fun.
Critter Connection – feed camels, stroke barnyard animals, and learn about native and exotic creatures from around the world.
