What you'll do
There’s so much to see here including exhibits on Polynesian culture, 22 million specimens of animal and plant life, and even an ‘active' volcano display. Discover the rich culture of the Hawaiian Islands and their people, and learn about one of the most biologically and culturally diverse geographical regions on earth.
The museum is made up of five different buildings that cover everything from history to art, not to mention an impressive collection of insect specimens. View 6 million seashells, 500,000 marine invertebrates, 490,000 plant specimens, and 130,000 fish specimens. There’s also 2.4 million Pacific and Hawaiian artifacts and over one million historic photographs – so you can see the islands and it's people.

Hawaiian Hall
This exhibition is spread over three floors, with each corresponding to the physical and spiritual realms of the Hawaiian people: Kai Äkea, the wide expanse of the sea; Wao Känaka, the realm of man; and Wao Lani, the heavenly realm. Through songs, chants, and mo'olelo stories, you'll discover the voices of Hawaiians, past and present.

Explore Oceania and its people through artifacts, artworks, videos, oral traditions, and linguistics .
