Get ready for an adventure at Sawgrass Recreation Park. Imagine gliding over a river of grass blades under a bright blue sky, the wind howling, on a sharp looking airboat. Picture the lush landscapes of the Everglades National Park with its diverse wildlife around you.

Your Airboat Ride in Everglades National Park

Hop on an airboat and explore the Everglades National Park. This experience will introduce you to an ecosystem rich with birds, fish, turtles, and alligators in their natural habitat. Feel the magic of pure nature and make memories that last a lifetime.

After your whistle-stop speedboat tour, you'll get to explore the Sawgrass Recreation Park where there are loads of resident native creatures including shy turtles, iguanas, baby alligators and a 1000 lb resident alligator named Cannibal. You'll also have access to the Glades Exhibit where you can learn all about the history of the Everglades and meet some farmyard animals too. Sawgrass is home to Peking ducks, pot-bellied pigs, bunnies, chickens, peacocks, and more.

Sawgrass Recreation Park highlights

Reptiles – See a 1,000 lb resident alligator up close and dozens of other swamp species at Sawgrass, both native and exotic to Florida. There are even turtles and you might get the chance to handle some of the creatures too. Enjoy a mist shower, and get a photo with a baby alligator.

Glades Exhibit – watch 'Our Everglades Story' and learn all about the history of the area and local conservation efforts. You'll also meet an array of farmyard animals. There are Peking ducks called Joey and Chandler, Himalayan rabbits called Queenie, Jimmy, and Timmy, and three huge pot-bellied pigs named Jack, Wilbur, and Lefty. You can also enjoy our variety of reptile presentations and learn about various native and exotic reptiles while seeing some up close with a stunning Everglades backdrop. Check out our rescued tortoises and for an extra fee, you can mine for gems and sharks teeth at the Sawgrass Mining Co. located in this exhibit area.

Tours start after 9AM each day and continue every 20-30 minutes throughout the day until 3.30PM with a final airboat tour at 5PM when the animal exhibits close.
