Pantheon: Reserved Entrance with Audioguide
This audio tour is the best way to discover the history of the Pantheon.
What you'll do
Fast-track your way into one of Rome's most famous and most-visited sites. With this experience from Touristation, you'll enjoy free entry to the Pantheon and have access to an audio tour that unravels the history of this ancient structure.
The Pantheon is perhaps the best preserved structure from Rome's ancient past. Construction of this temple was completed during the reign of Emperor Hadrian around 126 A.D., but it is located on the site of an earlier temple, built around 25 B.C. by Marcus Agrippa. Although there is a lack of written records about its creation, it is said to be designed as a temple to the Roman Gods. However, it was the first Roman pagan temple to be converted into a Christian church, which helps to explain why it has managed to remain in excellent condition to this day.
With your tour, you'll learn fascinating facts about the building as you enjoy this truly breathtaking ancient site. Admire its famous open-air oculus and the ornate granite columns in its portico.
Facts
Although it is a major tourist attraction, the Pantheon still operates as a Catholic church and hosts regular masses.
Its dome is the largest unsupported concrete dome in the world.
Despite its open oculus, the Pantheon is weather-proof due to its sloped marblefloor and the drainage system beneath it.
Notable figures such as Raphael are buried inside the Pantheon.
