ARTIS-Micropia is the world's first and only museum dedicated entirely to microbes. 

Microbes are in the air, on your skin and in your gut. They even make food taste good and keep you healthy. At Micropia, you’ll discover how essential microbes are at keeping balance in nature and witness this invisible world come to life through interactive displays, microscopes and stories from lab technicians. 

As you move through the exhibit, punch buttons like the Kiss-o-meter to see how many microbes you exchange with someone you kiss or try the Body Scan to visualize the bacteria in your body. Tiny things you never see — fungi, bacteria, algae — are brought to life in a chance to see them, learn their roles and appreciate how essential they are. 

Your visit begins with a clever elevator ride that “shrinks” you down to a microscopic level, setting the tone for what’s to come. 

Located beside the historic ARTIS Zoo, Micropia connects cutting-edge science with the natural world — revealing just how much life happens beyond what the eye can see.
