Best shopping on and off the Las Vegas Strip

Ten great places to splash the cash, Sin City style, from the Downtown Container Park to high-end Forum Shops at Caesars and the airplane hangar-sized Fashion Show Mall.

Shopping bags

Shopping in Las Vegas is almost as big a deal as casinos, nightlife, fine dining and showboating super-hotels. There are literally thousands of retailers across Sin City, all primed and waiting to send your credit card into meltdown. We’re talking everything from luxury boutiques at Caesars to hip container parks, edge-of-town designer outlets and, for fans seeking the ultimate sugar rush, an M&Ms megastore. Ready to give your bank manager a fright? Then let’s go shopping!

The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace

Statue at Caesars Palace

Yearning for shopping that’s fit for a Roman emperor? You’ve come to the right place. Roman-style columns, arches, fountains and murals set the scene and, well, if there’s anywhere toting more marble surfaces than this place in Vegas, we’ve yet to see it. Inside this gilded cavern of capitalism, you’ll find 150+ stores, running the gamut from luxury retail legends like Tiffany & Co, Armani and Lalique, to more affordable high-street stalwarts including H&M, Kiehl’s and Juicy Couture. Heck, there’s even a car showroom in here.

Plunder the stores for togas, tiaras and other trinkets, and expect plenty of spectacle – fountain shows, aquariums and animatronics – along the way.

Downtown Container Park

Downtown Container Park

You can’t miss the uber-trendy Container Park in Downtown Las Vegas: it’s the one with the giant praying mantis guarding the entrance – its flaming antennae and ear-shattering sound system hinting at what you might expect to find inside. Comprised of multiple re-purposed shipping containers and locally manufactured metal cubes, this place is as much entertainment hub as shopping destination. Expect plenty of super-trendy indie boutiques, with no two retailers offering the same products – cool, huh? There are also restaurants, further Insta-tastic sculptures and a massive slide and water-play area in the central courtyard to keep the kids entertained while parents fill their shopping bags with unique art pieces, handcrafted jewelry and retro candies.

Pro-tip: pair your shopping adventure with discounted entry to Downtown attractions available on the Las Vegas pass: the Mob Museum, the Neon Museum and a Fremont Street walking tour, to name just a few.

Fashion Show Mall

Located across from Wynn Las Vegas at the corner of Las Vegas Blvd and Spring Mountain Road, this shopping wonderland is prime Strip real estate. More than 250 stores – including seven big-name anchors (hello, Macy’s, Apple and Saks Fifth Avenue!) – join restaurants like The Capital Grille and Maggiano's Little Italy (plus dozens more delicious and diverse eateries scattered throughout) for a mall-meets-mealtime extravaganza that’s loved by tourists and locals alike.

Pro-tip: use the Big Bus Las Vegas (included with the Las Vegas pass, natch) to hop on and off at malls and attractions along the Strip and beyond.

The Shops at Crystals

Diamonds

Not for the faint of heart (or low of bank balance), this super-luxury complex is where it’s at for all your top-end designer duds and trinkets. We’re talking 500,000 square feet of luxury goods from the likes of Alexander McQueen, Bulgari, Cartier, Fendi and Hermès. Big spenders might even be inclined to go the whole hog and shell out for some luxury Louis Vuitton to carry their priceless haul safely home. Naturally, a place of such quality and distinction also promises luxury dining, as well as several eye-popping art galleries and elegant interior design featuring ice sculptures and water features.

Pro-tip: in-keeping with its regal vibe, Crystals also plays host to an exhibition dedicated to Princess Diana, featuring elegant evening dresses, handwritten letters and other trinkets that once belonged to Lady Di. Entry to the exhibition is included with the Las Vegas pass. You can also experience the immersive world of Van Gogh here.

M&M’s World Las Vegas

Need a sugar fix? Look no further than the Showcase Mall, home to the four-story M&Ms World, plus a Hard Rock Café, FlyOver Las Vegas and, as trailed by the 100-foot-high Coca-Cola bottle that marks its facade, a Coca-Cola Store. Little prepares you for the sensory assault when you step through the doors of M&Ms World. Those colorful little guys are everywhere – everywhere – you look. We’re talking great kaleidoscopic columns of self-serve candies, super-sized video screens showing M&Ms cartoons, even dancing troupes of life-sized M&Ms. Kids will absolutely love it, though you may have to scrape yours off the ceiling following the most intense sugar rush of their little lives. Adults, tearfully clutching bags and bags of M&Ms merch, may wish to repair to the Brewdog bar up on the roof afterwards to recharge and lick financial wounds.

Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian

Gondolier at the Venetian

For a unique shopping experience, mosey over to the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian, where gondoliers ferry shoppers to upscale stores along a replica of Venice’s Grand Canal. It’s a whimsical bit of roleplay, designed to woo the unwary passenger into stumbling straight out of the boat and straight into an eye-wateringly expensive Dior diamond choker. Sure, you can window shop here too, but where’s the fun in that? Get that credit card primed for action and go full Italian fashionista mode at Cartier, Jimmy Choo, Michael Kors and more.

Pro-tip: Take a break from all that shopping to schmooze with Miley, Kourtney, The Rock and others in Madame Tussauds Las Vegas – entry is included with your Las Vegas pass, and you’ll find the legendary wax museum on level two at the Venetian.

Grand Bazaar Shops

Strip favorite Horseshoe is home to the Grand Bazaar Shops. This colorful series of tent-like buildings and stalls blends the feel of an open-air market with the sensory extravaganza that is the Vegas Strip for an intoxicating combo that will have the whole family buzzing. Shopping is only half the story here though, where there are also several bars and restaurants, an escape room, a nightly light show, and a karaoke joint where caterwauling is positively encouraged.

Pro-tip: entry to the Real Bodies exhibition at the Horseshoe is included with the Las Vegas pass.

Las Vegas North Premium Outlets

Handbags in a luxury store

The Premium Outlets (as locals call it), is located in Downtown Las Vegas, just north of the Strip. Wear comfortable shoes and pack a few energy snacks, because this cavernous cathedral of capitalism covers some 40 acres and is home to nearly 200 outlet stores, including popular brands like Ann Taylor, Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Nautica, Disney, Coach, DKNY, Versace and more. The indoor/outdoor vibe allows visitors to enjoy the fine Vegas weather and the bargains here (price tags are often well below high-street levels) should leave you plenty of cash for late-night adventures back on the Strip.

Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood

Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile – billed as ‘Hollywood meets Times Square on the Vegas Strip’ is quite the wild ride. Its circular mall packs in around 170 retailers, including big names like Mac, Oakley and Pop Mart. But that’s only the half of it. As well as 30+ bars, restaurants, diners and dessert stores, there’s also a faux-sky ceiling overhead, that comes complete with regular (simulated) rainstorms, thunder, lightning and fog effects. If the weather outside is even worse, you can also slip into any number of world-class shows at the mall, from zombie burlesque (yep, you read that right) to comedy, magic and musical tributes.

Pro-tip: catch shows including Carpenters Legacy and Elton John tribute Piano Man here with the Las Vegas pass from Go City.

Las Vegas in May

Tucked away in the Nevada desert, surrounded on all sides by sand, rocks and an occasional cactus, is a bright pocket of color, sound and neon lights. It never sleeps, and it’s never stopped, since some plucky miners and their railroad brought wealth to the region more than a hundred years ago. The city, of course, is Las Vegas. Today, no matter the time of day or year, weary travelers and adventure-seekers alike still seek their fortune here – though one of the best times to come, for weather, crowds and partying till the small hours, is the charming spring month of May. All you need to know includes: Weather in May What's on Day trip ideas Pool parties Las Vegas in May Average temperature: 89oF • Average rainfall: 1 day/mth • Average sunshine: 13 hours Things begin to heat up in Vegas in May, as the days get longer and the clouds dissipate, leaving clear blue skies as far as the eye can see. There’s almost no rain – average rainfall for the whole month is 0.12 inches – but it’s not unheard of for an isolated thunderstorm to roll in, so check the forecast before you head out. It gets warmer as the month goes on, with temperatures regularly reaching the mid-90s and potentially ticking over 100 degrees, so be prepared for heat – particularly in the middle of the day. It’s still quite cool in the evenings, averaging a brisk 66oF overnight, so a light jacket or coat is recommended if you’re heading out and about after dark. Keep in mind, also, that many of the hotels and casinos have dress codes and don’t allow shorts – though fortunately they’re all air-conditioned, so you’ll be fine once you get there. What’s on in May There’s no shortage of fun to be had in Vegas in May, though if you’re here on a festival weekend you can expect to pay premium rates for hotels. On the other hand, if you miss them, your chances of getting a great deal are pretty good. Around the middle of the month is the annual Billboard Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, when the city fills up with rockstars and people who want to get a glimpse of them. Recent performers and recipients have included Ed Sheeran, Kanye West, Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande, to name a few. If that’s not your thing, escape the hoards by whisking yourself up to the Eiffel Tower observation deck, or seek sanctuary on the High Roller Observation Wheel in a soundproofed, climate-controlled pod. The last Monday of the month is Memorial Day and in Vegas this marks the unofficial start of the summer season. Most of the hotels get their festival vibes on with pool parties lasting all weekend; clubs, bars and restaurants will also have special events and offers. Or if you’re looking for a family-friendly event you could attend The Best Dam Barbeque Challenge, a two-day annual event in which teams compete to produce the best ribs, pork, brisket, and chicken. For spectators, as well as the obvious chance to taste a lot of grilled meat, there’s music, a car show and barbequing lessons for the kids. Or if you’re into Punk Rock and bowling, go for the obscure but fun Punk Rock Bowling and Music Festival, which is pretty much exactly what it says it is. Day trips from Vegas May is a great time to explore the regions around the city, as the days are getting longer but the heat hasn’t yet become extreme. If it’s your first time in the area make sure you visit the Grand Canyon and tick a natural wonder of the world off your bucket list. The trip begins and ends with a smooth ride in an air-conditioned coach, and in between you’ll enjoy a rejuvenating stop at Lake Mead, cross the Mike O'Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge into Arizona and spend three hours exploring the Canyon’s stunning South Rim on a guided tour. If you prefer wonders of engineering, you could visit Hoover Dam, where you can peer from the dam itself into the depths of the Black Canyon and spend some time exploring Boulder City. Or if you prefer a more elementary escape, why not try a combined trip to Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon? Here you can enjoy a scenic drive over mountain passes and red cliffs, see unique rock formations at Chequerboard Mesa and walk the rim of a canyon with stunning natural vistas. Wherever you choose to go, be sure to have your camera fully charged! Vegas Pools When you’ve been out in the desert all day, or hitting the shops of the Vegas Strip, there’s only one way to cool off – in a luxury Vegas hotel pool. This is nothing like your local swim center – these are mind-blowingly lavish and often magnificent bathing resorts, each attempting to outdo the others in theme, extravagance and sheer ingenuity. Choices include 11 acres of beach, tropical island and wave pools at Mandalay Bay, the Mount Olympus-themed Garden of the Gods at Caesar’s Palace, or actual sharks in the titanic-sized tank at the Golden Nugget. Pool season lasts from March to October and most of them stay open from 7am to 7pm. Many of them host pool parties – although you’ll hear them referred to as ‘day clubs’ - because they’re basically an all-day party with music, drinks and crowds of young people letting their hair down. Before you head to your chosen oasis, be aware that many of the hotels have strict rules about who’s allowed in, and in what manner, so make you check before you bathe. One or two – like the LINQ Influence Pool and Planet Hollywood – are free at certain times, but most have to be booked and paid for unless you’re staying at that hotel, and pool parties are strictly adults-only. If you’re not sure which one to pick – or want to try more than one – jump on a Rock Star Pool Party Tour which will take you to two of the best ones on a limo with complimentary drinks. When the pools close, follow it up (if you’ve got the stamina) with a Rockstar Club Tour, which gets you into four of the most exclusive clubs in town. Yes, you ‘May’ have it all! May is the perfect month to visit Sin City. Save money with a Go City Las Vegas Explorer or All-Inclusive Pass, and make sure you don’t miss a thing!
