Santa Maria de Montserrat Monastery
Founded in the 11th century and rebuilt between the 19th and 20th centuries. Today, it still houses over 70 monks and is renowned for the image of Our Lady of Montserrat.

Montserrat was declared a National Park in 1987.
"Montserrat" literally means "saw mountain" in Catalan which is in reference to the appearance of the multitude of jagged rock formations that are visible from a distance.
