What you'll do
There's no better way to experience Brooklyn Bridge than taking a stroll across the architectural icon. It's one of the most photographed landmarks in NYC, and you'll get to see it from all angles on this walking tour.
Along the way, your knowledgeable guide will provide a history of the bridge and everything you need to know about it, from the early days of construction to its cultural significance today. You'll also get perfect views of the Manhattan skyline as you cross.
Once you've crossed the bridge, your guide will take you to the trendy Brooklyn neighborhood called DUMBO. This place is known for its high-end boutiques, delicious desserts, pizza shops, art galleries, and scenic waterfront views. Its most famous view is the vision of the Manhattan Bridge wedged perfectly between two brick buildings. You'll explore the area from a local's perspective and get plenty of insider tips on where to dine and shop.
Facts
In 1894, P.T. Barnum, 'the greatest showman' was tasked by the city to prove how sturdy the bridge was. So he did what all great showmen would have done and marched 21 elephants across it.
The building of the Brooklyn Bridge was a victory for the early feminists. After chief engineer Washington Augustus Roebling, developed decompression sickness, his wife Emily Warren Roebling became the driving force behind the bridge's completion. She later became a pioneer of gender equality, publishing essays and earning a degree in law.
DUMBO stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass.
