Central Park Bike Rental & Tour highlights
Strawberry Fields and Imagine mosaic
A tribute to John Lennon based on the Beatles song ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’. This area was officially dedicated on October 9, 1985, the 45th anniversary of Lennon’s birth. It’s a designated Quiet Zone in the park, shaded by American elms and lined with benches.
Bethesda Fountain
Check out this fountain with its famous Angel of the Waters statue. Built in commemoration of the water system that brought fresh water to NYC in 1842, the angel carries a lily as a symbol of the water’s purity.
Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir
This 106-acre body of water takes up 1/8th of the park, while the 1.58 track that surrounds it is a favorite for New Yorkers to jog around.
Belvedere Castle
The name of this castle, which was originally intended as a Victorian folly, means ‘beautiful view’. Not only is it a striking building, it’s also used by the National Weather Service to keep track of wind speed and rainfall.
Shakespeare Garden
Check out the plants mentioned in Shakespearean works or just enjoy the array of flowers and greenery in this four-acre oasis. Pick your day right and you may even get to see a Shakespeare play in the nearby Delacourt Theatre.
