Visitors interested in Dublin’s rich history should visit Malahide Castle & Gardens, a magnificent 12th Century Castle located along the beautiful north Dublin coast, close to the picturesque seaside village of Malahide. Furnished with period furniture and an extensive collection of Irish portraits, you can take part in a guided tour through the many rooms and learn about his historic building. Don’t leave before you’ve walked around the beautiful Walled Gardens, either!

What You Can Expect to See at Malahide Castle in Dublin
Castle Rooms Tour
The four main rooms open to the public are the Oak Room, which is paneled in wood with carved panels depicting scenes from the scriptures, including Adam and Eve, the Temptation and the Expulsion; as well as the Small and Great Drawing Rooms which are considered some of the finest examples of mid-Georgian rooms in Ireland, featuring the transitional character rococo to neoclassical. The Great Hall is the fourth impressive room which was refashioned around 1825 and includes period joinery and fireplaces, with a frieze of carvings dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries.
Exhibition
Learn about the Talbot family from their English aristocratic origins to their involvement in some of Ireland’s key historic events. From the ghosts they’ve left behind, to their role in the Battle of the Boyne in the 17th century, you can discover their timeline through this engaging and interactive exhibition to accompany their main achievement – Malahide Castle.
Walled Garden
The Walled Garden is included free with the Go City® Pass so gardening enthusiasts can enjoy a walk among the 4 acres of manicured lawns and flower beds. Divided into different areas, visitors can also see the seven greenhouses including the Primula house to the Victorian Conservatory.
