Aberdeen 1773 Fishing Heritage: Sampan and Houseboat Audio Tour
Experience a traditional Hong Kong fishing community and visit a houseboat on this fun Aberdeen sightseeing boat tour.
What you'll do
Aberdeen’s origins date back centuries to its roots as a tiny fishing community on the southern shores of Hong Kong Island. Now surrounded by a forest of skyscrapers, the village has managed to retain much of its charm, with a tight-knit community of fishing families who live on colorful boats in the harbor.
This hour-long tour aboard a traditional sightseeing tour boat takes in a number of important landmarks, including the 18th-century Hung Shing Temple, the fishermen’s wharf, fish market and the bridge connecting Aberdeen to the tiny island of Ap Lei Chau. An audio guide, complete with folk tales, lullabies and narratives on the floating village, makes it easy to follow the action and is available in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean and Japanese.
You’ll also step aboard a floating museum, where a number of exhibits including vintage photographs and videos help bring this former family home to life.
Step into timeless tradition and rich heritage as you embark on an immersive tour of the vibrant Aberdeen Fishing Village, the origins of Fragrant Harbor and discover the area where the echoes of the art of fishing still resonate today. Unearth hidden gems in this slow-paced region of Hong Kong. This carefully curated tour promises to be an authentic and captivating learning experience.
