Top Things To Do on The Strip in Las Vegas

vegas strip with the las vegas sign in front

If there’s one place on Earth where you’re guaranteed a wild story (and maybe a mysterious text or two the next morning), it’s The Las Vegas Strip. This is where gravity-defying rides tower over neon-lit boulevards, cocktail bars pour drinks until sunrise, and the world’s best entertainers put on a show every night of the week. The Strip isn’t just a street—it’s a full-on sensory playground, packed with the best food, flashiest lights, and the kind of attractions you’ve only ever dreamed of. Thinking of making your Vegas holiday legendary? Trust us, you’re in the right place. We’ve bundled up our top picks for unforgettable days and nights on The Strip—let’s get planning!

Our favorite things to do on The Strip include:

High Roller Observation Wheel

The Big Apple Roller Coaster

Hop-On Hop-Off Big Bus Classic Daytime Tour

KA by Cirque du Soleil

Fly LINQ

The Mob Museum

minus5° “Cool Experience” at The Venetian Canal Shoppes

Madame Tussauds

Eiffel Tower Experience

Sweet Sin Bakery & Cafe at the LINQ Promenade

High Roller Observation Wheel: Vegas from Above

Rising 550 feet above the city, the High Roller Observation Wheel is Vegas’ answer to “How high can you go?” Step into a roomy, climate-controlled cabin and slowly spin up for unbeatable 360-degree views of the Strip, mountains and desert beyond. Day or night, the scenery from up here is pure magic—though we think the after dark ride, when the city glows with neon, feels especially electric. Sipping a drink as you’re suspended over the city? Absolutely an occasion worth raising a glass to.

You’ll find the vibe is fun and festive—ideal for groups, a romantic date, or snapping envy-inducing selfies. And if you book one of the Happy Half Hour cabins (think unlimited drinks for a full rotation), you might just make new friends along the way! This isn’t just an observation wheel—it’s a sky-high Vegas celebration you’ll remember long after you touch down back on the ground.

The Big Apple Roller Coaster: Thrills With a Skyline View

Ever wanted to loop and twist above a mini-New York City skyline? The Big Apple Roller Coaster at New York-New York Hotel & Casino takes the classic coaster experience and turns it up several notches. Climb aboard your “taxi” car and brace yourself for stomach-flipping drops, whiplash-inducing turns, and a heart-pounding barrel roll, all framed by faux skyscrapers and the buzz of The Strip below.

What makes this ride a cut above your childhood theme park? It’s the thrill of flying above Vegas—the rails dip right alongside the traffic and resort lights, making you feel part of the city’s action even while upside down. Plus, the nostalgic NYC theme (complete with flashing Times Square lights and hot dog stand smells in the air) pulls you right into that big-city spirit. It’s wild, it’s loud, and it’s just a bit over the top—just like Vegas itself.

Hop-On Hop-Off Big Bus Classic Daytime Tour: The Strip, Your Way

Want the grand tour without fried feet or trying to sort the bus schedule in 110° heat? The Hop-On Hop-Off Big Bus makes exploring The Strip and beyond a breeze. With open-top views, a handy audio guide, and a schedule that lets you jump off whenever something catches your eye, this is sightseeing with zero stress.

The route covers all the hits: glitzy resorts, classic wedding chapels, quirky roadside attractions, and perfect people-watching opportunities. Hop off at the Bellagio to watch the fountains, at the LINQ Promenade for treats, or Chinatown for great lunch options. The guides keep it lively with fun facts, juicy celebrity gossip, and plenty of local tips. Use it at your own pace, get a feel for the whole city, and save your energy for a big night out!

KA by Cirque du Soleil: A Mind-Bending Spectacle

Las Vegas does shows like nowhere else, and KA by Cirque du Soleil at MGM Grand is the absolute definition of a jaw-dropping night out. This isn’t your ordinary stage show—it’s an acrobatic epic where gravity doesn’t seem to exist, the stage spins, tilts, and floats, and warriors leap from flaming towers. There’s stunning choreography, dazzling costumes, and live music that pulls you right into the adventure.

We love KA for its scale—it’s big, bold, and absolutely immersive. The story unfolds with cinematic intensity, yet every seat feels close to the action. Whether you’re a lifelong theater buff or just along for the ride, you’ll be grinning at stunts you never thought possible and gasping at each plot twist. It’s a world-class performance, Vegas-style.

Fly LINQ: Soar Over The Strip

What if you could fly past the High Roller, breeze over crowds, and land right in the middle of The Strip’s party scene? At Fly LINQ Zipline, that’s Thursday at 2pm. Strap in, lean forward, and let gravity do the work as you’re whisked above shoppers and diners at the LINQ Promenade, just steps from the action. It’s a rush—quick, thrilling, and the only way you’ll ever see The Strip this way.

Watching the lights whirl by from a superhero’s point of view is as adrenaline-pumping as it gets and manages to be kid-friendly too (just check the height requirements). Make it part of an afternoon adventure, then treat yourself to an ice cream or cocktail near the landing platform. You’ll land feeling like you could take on the next casino with extra swagger.

The Mob Museum: Where Vegas Stories Come Alive

Las Vegas wouldn’t be Vegas without its old-school tales of glitz, grit, and, yes, a little organized chaos. The Mob Museum, located downtown (just a short cab from The Strip and perfect to pair with a Big Bus stop), brings these stories to life through interactive exhibits, chilling artifacts, and immersive experiences.

Wander through the former courthouse and dive into everything from 1920s bootlegging to glittering casino heists. The speakeasy in the basement serves prohibition-era cocktails—order a Bee’s Knees or Southside if you want to taste the past. Staff here take their roles seriously, adding drama and fun to every tour. You’ll leave with a new appreciation for Vegas’ real-world history and its stranger-than-fiction characters.

minus5° “Cool Experience” at The Venetian Canal Shoppes: Chill Out—Literally

Need an escape from desert heat? Pop into minus5°, the ice bar sculpted entirely from—you guessed it—solid ice. From frosty walls to your cup, everything here is carved from glimmering blocks (even the lounge chairs). You’ll be bundled up in a cozy parka and gloves before stepping inside, but the cool factor (pun intended) is just as much about the vibe as the temperature.

Sip creative cocktails surrounded by whimsical ice sculptures and neon lights, snap a frosty selfie, or challenge your friends to see who can last longest without shivering. It’s quick, quirky fun that cools you off and makes for an epic story to send the group chat.

Madame Tussauds: Meet the Stars

Ever wanted a selfie with Beyoncé, “The Rock,” or Elvis—all in one afternoon? Madame Tussauds at The Venetian lets you hang out with lifelike pop culture legends, movie stars, and Vegas favorites without a single velvet rope in sight. Go ahead, pose for ridiculous photos, “join” the cast of your favorite movies, and even belt out a tune with the live DJ soundtrack in the background.

The atmosphere here leans toward interactive fun: dance with Lady Gaga, go all-in at the faux casino table, or try your luck at the music video set. With themed zones and ever-changing displays, even repeat visitors find something new. It’s pure, playful escapism—a perfect break from the slots or sun outside.

Eiffel Tower Experience: Paris Vibes, Vegas Lights

Travel to Europe by elevator at Paris Las Vegas. The Eiffel Tower Experience zips you 46 stories up for panoramic views of both The Strip and the Valley—a romantic, blush-pink Vegas take on a classic. The viewpoint is especially magical at dusk, when lights flicker to life up and down Las Vegas Boulevard and the Bellagio fountains dance below.

Staff are friendly, the lines move quickly, and there’s a certain old-world romance to gazing out over the city from this glowing perch. Whether you’re with a partner or soaking it in solo, the Eiffel Tower Experience gives you that sense of Parisian thrill—without the passport stamp. Snap a photo at the top and you’ve got yourself the ultimate Vegas-meets-Europe souvenir.

Sweet Sin Bakery & Cafe at the LINQ Promenade: Pastries, Coffee, and a Side of People-Watching

Tucked inside the LINQ Promenade, Sweet Sin Bakery & Cafe is the go-to spot when your sweet tooth kicks in, or you simply need a pick-me-up between adventures. The vibe here is relaxed and creative, with plenty of cozy nooks and eye-popping displays of gourmet pastries. What sets Sweet Sin apart? Their menu features over-the-top cakes, flaky croissants, and colorful macarons—plus vegan and gluten-free treats for those with dietary quirks.

The stars of the menu include their impossibly fluffy Japanese cheesecake and a ube latte that’s as Instagrammable as it is delicious. Pull up a chair looking out at the Promenade to watch the world go by, or grab your treats to go if you’re dashing off to the next show. Morning, midday, or midnight—there’s never a wrong time to treat yourself when you’re in Vegas.

Experience Vegas on Foot: The LINQ Promenade & Bellagio Fountains

You don’t need to drop dollars at every turn to soak up The Strip’s electric energy. Some of the best memories? Absolutely free. The LINQ Promenade is a lively pedestrian zone packed with interactive art, buzzing bars, souvenir shops, and street performers. It’s a prime spot for wandering and people-watching, especially in the evening when the neon signs light up and live music fills the air.

After exploring the Promenade, walk over to the Bellagio and join the crowd along the sidewalk for the next Bellagio Fountain Show. The fountains dance to top tunes every 15–30 minutes in the evenings—syncing music, water, and light in perfect harmony. It’s a genuine “wow” for newcomers, romantic for couples, and puro Vegas energy for families or friends. Stay for one song or a few; you’ll find locals in the crowd cheering right alongside you.

Las Vegas Strip Tips:

  • Try to see The Strip by both day and night—each has its own wild personality.

  • Wear comfy shoes—the blocks look short, but trust us, they’re not.

  • Hydrate, even in winter! Desert air dries you out before you’ve even noticed.

  • There’s always another surprise around the next corner—keep exploring!

Nothing compares to the thrill of discovering The Strip for yourself. Whether you’re reaching new heights on the High Roller, taking home a wild selfie from Madame Tussauds, or just relaxing over pastries at Sweet Sin, Las Vegas delivers fun at every turn. Ready for your adventure? The Strip is waiting—with more to see, taste, snap, and share than you could ever fit in just one trip.

Las Vegas Airport to City Travel Options (Harry Reid)

Las Vegas is the world’s entertainment capital; truly a city that never sleeps. So you’ll want to spend as little time as possible between touching down at Harry Reid International Airport and getting yourself to the heart of the action. We’re talking supersized casinos, malls the size of aircraft hangars and some of the biggest, glitziest stage shows outside of Broadway. Marvel at the Mirage’s erupting volcano, take the great glass elevator up the (replica) Eiffel Tower at Paris, grab a selfie by the Bellagio’s legendary dancing fountains, and hitch a gondola ride down Venice’s Grand Canal at The Venetian. All this and more (so much more) awaits you in Sin City. Read on for our guide to all the transport options from Harry Reid International to downtown Vegas… Las Vegas Harry Reid Airport in Brief There’s only one international airport in Las Vegas. Harry Reid International was known as McCarran International up until 2021, when controversy over the antisemitic and racist beliefs of former Nevada senator Pat McCarran finally boiled over, prompting a 21st-century update. Senator Harry Reid lived just long enough to see the airport take his name in December 2021, just two weeks prior to his death. In spite of this, many still know the airport as McCarran. Or just plan Las Vegas Airport. The airport identification code – LAS – remains unaltered. Depending on direction of travel (and which side of the plane you’re sitting on), you might well get to enjoy cracking views of the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam and the Strip on your descent into fabulous Las Vegas. No matter how experienced your pilot, you’re also reasonably likely to experience a turbulent landing here. That’s due to unpredictable mountain air currents and hot dry desert air. The effect is particularly pronounced in summer. Still, the excitement will set you up rather nicely for all the thrills and spills that await in Sin City. But first, let us address the rather more prosaic matter of getting from LAS to downtown. The good news is that Harry Reid is a mere hop and a skip from the Strip, from a little over a mile if you’re staying at the southern end (MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay) to more like five miles if you’re bedding down at e.g. The STRAT, at the northern end. It’s nine miles to the Fremont Street Experience in downtown, technically the center of Vegas. Harry Reid Airport to Las Vegas by Public Transport Proximity of landing strip to actual Strip means there’s no need for stacks of transit options. Buses are frequent, reliable and – if a little slow – certainly the cheapest way of getting from A to B, useful if you’ve just accidentally dropped 100 bucks on the airport’s 1,000+ slot machines. Viva Las Vegas, baby! Getting from the Airport to Downtown This is pretty straightforward. There are three public bus services out of Harry Reid, and all of them bypass the Strip and make straight for downtown. One-way tickets cost $2 and should be bought (exact fare only!) on the bus. Routes 108 and 109 run most frequently and will get you to the Bonneville Transit Center bus stop in around 35-45 minutes. Route 109 runs around the clock. Alternatively the Centennial Express CX out of terminals 1 and 3 takes around 45 minutes to reach the end of the line at Casino Center & Fremont. However, this service only runs once per hour. You can also pay a little more ($3) for a 2-hour ticket that allows you to bus-hop around on Nevada’s RTC network until the time runs out. This excludes The Deuce, of which more below. Top tip: once in downtown Las Vegas, you can make use of the excellent Downtown Loop bus service for free.  Getting from the Airport to the Strip There are two options for getting to your Strip hotel from the airport using public transport: Take the Centennial Express CX, which departs from terminals 1 and 3, and disembark at the Tropicana after Koval Ln stop after around 20-25 minutes. From here you can transfer to the Las Vegas Monorail, which runs roughly parallel to the Strip along its eastern side and stops at several stations close to major hotels. A single one-way ride on the monorail costs $5.50 and multi-day passes are also available. Take the 109 bus route from the airport and disembark at South Strip Transit Terminal Bay 18. From there it’s a short walk to the South Strip Transit Terminal Bay SSTT for transfers to The Deuce, a 24/7 coach that services 28 stops along the length of the Strip. A one-way ticket costs $4 and it’s $6 for a two-hour pass. Again, multi-day passes are also available. Harry Reid Airport to the Strip or Downtown by Cab You’ll have to spring more for a cab than for the bus, but there’s no doubting this is the fastest and easiest way to get to your Vegas digs from the airport. Flat rates apply for rides from the cab ranks at terminals 1 and 3 to the Strip, and these vary depending on where you want to go, as follows: Zone 1 (Sunset North to Tropicana): $21. This covers Excalibur, the MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Tropicana, the Luxor and other hotels towards the Strip’s southern end. Zone 2 (Tropicana North to Flamingo): $25. Mid-Strip hotels in zone 2 include Paris, the Bellagio, Planet Hollywood and the Cosmopolitan. Zone 3 (Flamingo North to Stratosphere): $29. Zone 3 covers the northern end of the Strip, which includes Caesars Palace, the Venetian, the Wynn, Circus Circus, the STRAT and more. Note that flat-rate fares within these zones don’t include credit card fees, the $2 fuel surcharge or that all-important tip. Cabs to Downtown are metered and should set you back around $40. Operators including Lyft and Uber are a little less convenient but can cost up to 30% less than official airport cabs, so are always worth considering. Harry Reid Airport to Downtown Las Vegas by Rental Vehicle The Harry Reid Rent-a-Car Center is on Gilespie Street, around three miles south of the airport. You can catch a free shuttle there from the terminals; the journey takes 10 minutes and services depart every five minutes. You’ll find all the usual suspects here, including Alamo, Budget Hertz and Thrifty, with vehicles available from as little as $20 a day, right up to the kind of soft-top shocking-pink cadillac you might favor if you really want to stand out on the Strip.
