What you'll do
Head to Tremé, the oldest African-American neighborhood in the United States to explore the historic area that's steeped in music and culture. This tour covers all bases and your guide will provide the history of the architecture, music, Mardi Gras, and Indian history while pointing out a few film locations along the way.
You’ll learn about the Free People of Color, the Creoles, and their influence on the area, as well as a trip to the Tomb of the Unknown Slave for a discussion on the history of slavery in New Orleans.

Congo Square
An open space within Louis Armstrong Park where slaves and free African Americans gathered throughout the 19th century.
Rock & Roll Laundromat
Explore the site of the J&M Recording Studios where greats including Fats Domino, Little Richard, and Roy Brown recorded. The building helped to define Rock 'n' Roll in the 40s and is now a coin-op laundry.
Tomb of The Unknown Slave
This somber cross serves as a monument to remember the slaves who passed away unnamed and unaccounted for.
