Walk in the footsteps of kings and queens on a palace tour that includes the throne room, royal chapel, parade grounds and more.
Madrid’s Royal Palace is the biggest functioning royal palace in Europe. You’ll get to experience a flavor of its epic scale on this audio tour, which takes in some of its grandest, most important rooms.
Cameras at the ready for the grand staircase, which sweeps majestically up to the first floor beneath a huge Giaquinto ceiling fresco. Look out also for incredible artworks from European masters including Goya, Caravaggio and Velázquez.
You’ll visit the royal armory, with exhibits that date back as far as medieval times, before stepping into the opulent splendor of the throne room. Here, golden lions flank sumptuous gilt-edged thrones, and dazzling chandeliers light up Tiepolo’s glorious fresco.
Afterwards, take a gentle stroll through peaceful Campo del Moro, the ornate English-style gardens to the rear of the palace, with their monumental neoclassical fountains.

Very Disappointing Royal Palace Experience
Hakan H. ·Unfortunately, our experience with the Royal Palace tour organized by Amigo Tours through our Go City Madrid Pass was extremely disappointing. We received several reminder emails with instructions about the meeting point and time. My wife and I arrived approximately 10 minutes before the scheduled meeting time and waited at the designated meeting point for about 30 minutes, but nobody from Amigo Tours showed up. There was no guide or representative there to meet us, despite the clear instructions provided in the emails. Eventually, we had no choice but to walk to the Royal Palace ourselves and try to continue the visit on our own. To make matters worse, the audio guides did not work properly, so we went through the Palace without really understanding what we were seeing. After spending so much time waiting for a representative who never arrived, we were already frustrated and disappointed, which unfortunately affected our entire visit to what should have been one of the highlights of our first day in Madrid. A few days later, we joined an Amigo Tours guided visit to the Reina Sofía Museum. We explained what had happened at the Royal Palace to our guide, Gabriela. She was very understanding and seemed genuinely sorry about our experience. She told us that she had reported the incident by email and reassured us several times that Amigo Tours had been informed about what happened. I should also mention that our later guided tours of both the Reina Sofía and Prado Museums, also organized by Amigo Tours through our Go City package, went well and we had no problems with those tours. Unfortunately, our Royal Palace experience was completely different and very poorly organized. Based specifically on our Royal Palace experience, I cannot give this tour more than one star.
No Tour
Nick ·We were told to meet at the statue of Isabel II 15 min prior to our tour. We waited for a while to see if anyone from Amigo was going to lead our tour. Finally we found girl waving an Amigo flag. She said she didn’t have our names and told us we’d have to go to the palace ourselves, even though we showed her our passes and instructions to meet someone from Amigo in that exact location. Amigo charged us still as “no-shows” which is disappointing since we didn’t even go on a tour. I recommend skipping the hassle with Amigo and just purchasing a ticket yourself at the palace gates. The palace itself is incredible, just cut out the Amigo Tours part.
