  • This century-old park is also home to diverse wildlife including red-tailed hawks, chipmunks and swallowtail butterflies.

You could easily while away an entire day in the huge urban oasis that is Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Pack a picnic and take the family for a great day out!

No matter the season, there’s always something in bloom at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Your only problem will be deciding where to start.

Highlights include the Rose Garden where, when the flowers are blooming in June, you’ll find thousands cascading down arches, up trellises and over the pavilion. The Fragrance Garden, with its heavenly scents and tactile plants is also a real feast for the senses.

Take a stroll down the Celebrity Path, with stepping stones honoring famed Brooklyn residents past and present. As the path meanders gently past huge rhododendrons and aromatic Austrian pines, look out for inscriptions dedicated to Floyd Patterson, Joan Rivers, Barry Manilow and more.

Step inside the Shakespeare Garden for classic English blooms including snowdrops, poppies and lilies, and head to the Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden for waterfalls, wooden bridges and a stunning Shinto shrine.

The Cherry Esplanade and Bluebell Wood provide two of the park’s most enchanting seasonal displays, with both coming into bloom around the same time in late April.
