The Hoover Dam is located on the border of Nevada and Arizona in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River.
The dam protects Arizona from flooding of the Colorado River and is a major energy source for Nevada, California, and Arizona.
It took five years to build the Hoover Dam, from April 20, 1931, to March 1, 1936.
The Hoover Dam was built during the Great Depression and is named after President Herbert Hoover.
More than 100 people died from causes related to the construction of the dam.
The Hoover Dam is 726 feet tall.
