Things to do in Las Vegas for Pride Day

Published: July 18, 2024
LGBTQ+ rainbow flag flying in the breeze

Las Vegas is as camp as Christmas. This, after all, is the city that has hosted epic residences by some of the planet’s biggest gay icons – Elton John, Celine Dion, Cher, Barry Manilow, Katy Perry, Mariah and Liberace, to name just a few. Sin City’s 24-hour party culture means there’s always a club, restaurant or high-class cocktail bar to get the party started, and who hasn’t dreamt of spending feather boa-clad evenings at the blackjack tables followed by long languid days sipping pina coladas in poolside cabanas?

Naturally, then, fabulous Las Vegas is also a fine place to celebrate Pride, with a flamboyant annual parade and festival that could even be said to rival the more famous parties in neighboring San Diego and LA. Better yet, in a bid to dodge the searing desert heat of traditional summer Pride events, Sin City’s official Pride parade and festival takes place in the marginally more bearable climes of October, meaning you can, should you so wish, march for Pride twice in the same year! Here’s what to expect from Las Vegas Pride, and the city’s other hot tickets for LGBTQ+ travelers, in October, in June, and all year round!.

Las Vegas Pride Parade and Festival

Pride parade revelers draped in rainbow flags

The Las Vegas Pride Night Parade and Festival take place over a single weekend in October. Friday evening sees the weekend get started in earnest as some 30,000 revelers join the party in Downtown Las Vegas. There’s a pre-show from around 6PM, with a parade along 4th Street at 7PM. You can expect all the usual entertainments: eye-poppingly OTT floats (many sponsored by the huge Vegas casino resorts), plus theatrical costumes, drag kings and queens, live music and marching bands. Like pretty much everything else in Vegas, it’s quite the spectacle. The parade finishes close to the Fremont Street Experience, the ultra-modern dining and entertainment complex that’s the jewel in Downtown’s sparkling crown, and where you can expect plenty of Pride-related partying, with cocktails, live music and LED light shows getting the party into full swing. The official Pride Block Party, however, can be found a little further back along 4th Street, featuring food trucks, bars and live performances until late. Entry to the Friday event is free, but you’ll need tickets for the all-day festival at the same location on the Saturday. Kids are welcome to hang out until 7PM but stage shows get a little racy after with acts that are not necessarily recommended for tender young eyes and ears.

There’s also a Pride Pets event at Craig Ranch Regional Park on Saturday afternoon, with prizes available for very good (and very well-dressed) doggos.

June Pride in Las Vegas

Pool party with colorful inflatables

Las Vegas is of course fabulous year-round (it even says so on the famous sign!) so – no surprises – the city does also get heavily involved in the global Pride month of June, with unofficial Pride parties and events popping up across town. Some of the best recurring annual shindigs include these absolute must-dos…

  • The Phoenix Bar & Club is one of Sin City’s premier gay bars and hosts a Pride party on the first Saturday every single month of the year. For obvious reasons, June’s is perhaps the biggest of them all. Expect karaoke, drag acts and other surprises.
  • Only the biggest and best LGBTQ+ pool parties in Vegas, Temptation Sundays run weekly at the Luxor through summer, promising go-go dancers, stylish drag queens, live DJs and pool discos!
  • Catch the Las Vegas Men’s Chorus performing their uplifting mix of pop, Motown and musical showtunes.
  • The legendary Queen Las Vegas is the Strip’s only LGBTQ+ bar, restaurant and club. June highlights include karaoke (natch), drag queen performances (of course), ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ viewing parties, and weekend drag brunches.

LGBT+ Las Vegas Nightlife

Drag queen in floral dress

The LGBTQ+ nightlife in Las Vegas is wild at just about any time of year, but never more than in June and October, when there are all sorts of Pride-related theme nights going on. We’ve already mentioned the must-visit Queen Las Vegas, with its hedonistic weekend club nights. Celeb fave Piranha offers similarly hi-NRG all-night beats, strobe lighting and exclusive boxes with Strip and dance floor views.

Hit up the Flex Cocktail Lounge, Quadz, Fun Hog Ranch and The Garage for slightly more laid back LGBTQ+ vibes, including theme nights, karaoke, billiards, darts and more. Unleash your inner Nina Simone accompanied by a live pianist at Fremont Street karaoke favorite Don’t Tell Mama. Or mosey over to the Flamingo to catch the rip-roaring theatrical production of RuPaul’s Drag Race Live!, starring a rotating cast of the planet’s most fabulous drag queens.

Of course, this barely scratches the surface of the astonishing number (and variety) of LGBTQ+ parties and events held year-round in Sin City. Check the official Las Vegas Pride calendar for all the latest listings.

Top Las Vegas Attractions

Girls in a car by the 'Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas' sign

You’re in Vegas, baby! This a city that truly never sleeps, so naturally there’s plenty to see and do here, should you fancy a break from all that partying. Some of our favorite things to do include the below…

  • Seeing the Bellagio fountain lit up in the colors of the Pride flag during the festival. Catch the show every 15 minutes from 7PM. And while you’re there, the Bellagio just happens to have its own fine art gallery and botanical garden, as well as some of the hottest designer shopping in town.
  • There’s no souvenir selfie more fabulous than a snap by the ‘Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas’ sign at the end of the Strip. Get there via the quite excellent Deuce bus service or, heck, hire a pink cadillac and drive there with the top-down for ultimate Instagram bragging rights.
  • You’re spoiled for choice with the proliferation of shows in and around the Las Vegas Strip. Pick from major rock and pop stars, comedians, conjurors, puppeteers and, of course, the famous Blue Man Group and Cirque shows.
  • Choose your own adventure on a Pink Jeep Tour of Vegas – or beyond! Options include Strip deep dives, cruises out to Red Rock Canyon, and even epic round-trips to Death Valley’s Badwater Basin.
  • Get pampered to the max at the Roman baths at Qua Baths & Spa in Caesars Palace, where the 24-carat gold collagen facial massage is just about as decadent as massage gets.
  • Ride the Las Vegas High Roller, currently the second-tallest observation wheel on the planet, for far-reaching views across the glittering city skyline and beyond. Book a private pod with bubbly for the win (and to calm your nerves 550 feet up)!

Many of the above attractions and activities are included with a Go Las Vegas pass, which could save you up to 50% when visiting multiple Sin City bucket-listers.

Best Museums in Las Vegas

An energetic entertainment hub, Las Vegas is a vacation destination quite unlike any other. And whilst the city is known for its booze-fueled nightclubs and dazzling casino floors, there’s a lot more to Sin City than perhaps first meets the eye. Peek beyond the bright neon lights, and you’ll find one-of-a-kind museums and award-winning collections dotted all across the city. At the Pinball Hall of Fame, visitors can wander through a unique collection stretching right back to the game’s inception. Or, if museums dealing with unusual subjects intrigue you, Vegas hardly falls short, with outstanding exhibits at the National Atomic Testing Museum. And for those looking for the ultimate family-friendly educational experience, we suggest checking out the Neon Museum. With so much to see and do here, it’s always a good idea to conduct a little bit of research before travelling. So, without further ado, here are some of the best itinerary tips to help you get the best out of your Las Vegas trip! Learn About the City Designed to be equal parts unsettling and illuminating, The Mob Museum offers a comprehensive look into the history of organized crime in America. The institute’s exhibitions are displayed across two floors: the ground floor features displays covering use of force and organized crime today while the upper floor is home to a provocative look into the culture of brutality and the Kefauver Hearings. The museum’s permanent collection is engrossing and varied - visitors can expect to see everything from elaborately-embellished flapper dresses and timeworn leather briefcases to historic rifles and wiretap recordings. The remarkable preservation of these relics provide an inside look into this fascinating period of American history. After exploring the institute, we suggest checking out its fully operational speakeasy and distillery in the basement - The Underground. Highly informative and undoubtedly unique, this spot is perfect for anybody who wants to learn a little bit more about organized crime in the U.S. and also the law enforcement personnel who fought it. Another one of our favorite stops in Sin City has got to be the Neon Museum. For first-time visitors to Vegas, this is a great place to start learning about the distinctive background of the city and have fun at the same time! Living up to the unique culture and reputation of Las Vegas, this place features a fantastic and unique repository of neon signs from old casinos and other businesses. Wandering through the institute, you’ll notice that each of the restored signs has a story of who created it and why it is important. With over 800 historic signs spread across 2.25 acres, there’s most certainly a lot to see here. There are three main sections: Restored and Installed Neon signs, the North Gallery, and a fan favorite, the Neon Boneyard, featuring additional rescued signs. Captivating, quirky and educational all at once, this only-in-Las-Vegas attraction is a total must-see. Get Cultured Located along the famous Las Vegas Strip, the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art is one of the most popular visitor attractions of its kind in the region. It’s only been open since the year 1998, but it has already acquired quite the reputation for its remarkable holdings. Though the institute’s collection is small, it features some of the world’s most compelling and prolific artists. From impressionism and surrealism to pop art and minimalism, this space has it all. Previous shows have featured works by Picasso, Fabergé, Warhol and more. These exhibits are carefully curated and switched up throughout the year to provide something new with each and every visit. You don’t have to be an art aficionado to enjoy the wonderful seminal works displayed in this space. Try Something Different For those visitors of a curious mind, the next item on our list should definitely spark some intrigue. With a concentration on the intersection between science and history, The National Atomic Testing Museum works to inspire excitement for STEM learning. The museum operates as an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, providing fun and engaging exhibits for those of all ages. The institute is home to over 12,000 artefacts covering the history of atomic testing from the first check at the Nevada Test Site in 1951 right through to the present day. Its unique and extraordinary collection includes rare artefacts, photographs, videos, scientific and nuclear reports and more. Breaking away from all of the bright lights and casinos, this unusual little gem is a great way to spend a couple of hours in Vegas. For those who are looking to try something a little different, we recommend checking out the Pinball Hall of Fame. Reflecting the playful nature of the city, this living museum houses the impressive and expansive collection of Tim Arnold. Inside, visitors can enjoy nearly 700 different types of pinball games from past to present. In addition, the museum is home to other classic video arcade games and novelty machines like Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong and Ms Pac-Man. These machines aren’t just there for show, though - show up with your game face on and a whole lot of change to play for a couple of hours! Offbeat, kitschy and fun, this spot is the perfect place to spend a bit of quality time with the family. Las Vegas is often overlooked when it comes to its museums - though it shouldn’t be! From world-class art and fascinating history and quirky little gems, there’s no shortage of spaces to explore. Maximize your travel experience with GoCity’s All-Inclusive Pass or Explorer Pass. Why do we love it? It’s like being in your own private sky lounge. Picture yourself 550 feet above dazzling neon lights, with a 360-degree view that sweeps from the glimmering Strip to desert peaks far beyond the city’s edge. Gleaming glass pods mean the ride feels cool and comfortable no matter how warm the September afternoon gets. Whether you time it for sunset and the whole valley glows gold, or hop on after dark for a riot of city lights, the High Roller is equally spectacular. It’s the ultimate group selfie spot, too—grab your friends, snap those panoramic shots, and toast your Vegas adventure with a drink from the full bar pod if you’re feeling festive.  The Mob Museum: Discover Vegas’ Sinful Side  Step off the famous Fremont Street and dive deep into the stories that made Vegas famous—the ones with a little extra grit. The Mob Museum takes you straight into the heart of organized crime history. The former courthouse setting, complete with Prohibition-era artifacts, interactive exhibits, and dramatic true tales, makes you feel like you’re living in the thick of it all. Special highlights include a speakeasy hidden in the basement (yes, you’re encouraged to try their housemade spirits!) and an authentic crime lab experience. The ambience is a mix of intrigue and old-school Vegas glamour. Every visit brings new discoveries, whether you want to geek out over forensic science or hear whispered legends of casino moguls and mobsters.  Hop-On Hop-Off Big Bus Classic Daytime Tour: Stress-Free Exploring  Why choose just one highlight when you can zip around to all of them? The Hop-On Hop-Off Big Bus Classic Daytime Tour lets you curate your perfect September day, with open-air double-decker rides and lively narration. The fresh breeze and shaded seating make sightseeing easy, even when the sun is shining. Stop where you want—maybe a quick stroll down the Strip, lunch at a celebrity chef spot, or a vintage shopping detour downtown. With buses running smoothly between major hotels, must-see casinos, and local gems, you can cover lots of ground without breaking a sweat or your step count.  The Big Apple Roller Coaster: Adrenaline with a View  When you need a break from table games, switch up your routine with a few corkscrews and a view of the Las Vegas skyline. The Big Apple Roller Coaster at New York-New York delivers big thrills and a surprising sense of nostalgia. Board your red train outside a replica of Lady Liberty, then hang on tight as you loop, twist, and drop at speeds over 60mph. The backdrop? Replica skyscrapers, buzzing crowds, and overhead glimpses of the Strip. It’s equal parts exhilarating and hilarious—especially if you convince your travel buddies to do a group shot coming down the first drop. Go at dusk for sparkly city lights as you race by.  Las Vegas Hiking Adventures by Love Hikes: Epic Trails Close to the Action  September brings ideal hiking conditions—warm, sunny mornings, but not the midsummer scorch. Love Hikes offers guided excursions just minutes from the city, but worlds away in vibe. Picture sculpted red rock canyons, wild Joshua trees, and wide-open desert horizons. Your guide will handle the logistics, share fun local lore, and point out hidden photo ops along the trails. It’s a refreshing contrast to Vegas’ manmade thrills. If you want to see a side of Southern Nevada most visitors never discover, Lace up and get out there—don’t forget water, sunscreen, and a charged camera.  Strip Highlights Night Flight on Papillon Helicopter: Vegas From Above  Nothing compares to seeing Las Vegas as the sun dips and the Strip snaps to neon life. Papillon’s helicopter flight whisks you high above the casinos, fountains and legendary nightclubs. The ride is smooth, the pilots narrate, and the views include everything from the Bellagio Fountains to towering hotels twinkling against the night. If you’re looking for that unforgettable “only in Vegas” experience for a special September trip, this is it. The whole thing feels cinematic—from check-in to touchdown—and creates lifelong memories in less than half an hour.  Pool Parties on The Strip: Endless Summer Vibes  September is prime time to soak up Vegas’ legendary pool parties. The weather’s perfect—warm but no longer sweltering—and DJs keep the energy up all day long. Spots like Encore Beach Club, Wet Republic, and Daylight Beach pop off every weekend, with shimmering pools, plush cabanas, and craft cocktails galore. Whether you want to go all out with bottle service or rock your sun hat on a lounger just steps from the water, you’ll find your perfect spot. Pro tip: check each venue’s calendar for special guest performers and themed events all month long. Swimwear required, inhibitions optional.  Exploring Fremont Street: Old School Vegas With a Modern Twist  End your September adventure where Las Vegas first found its sparkle—downtown’s Fremont Street. This pedestrian wonderland is part free entertainment, part visual spectacle. Live bands blare from open-air stages, dazzling LED canopies overhead light up with hourly shows, and classic casinos showcase Vegas history at every turn. Street performers, zip lines zooming overhead, and the electric buzz of the crowd make every night a little different. Pop into a funky bar for a craft cocktail, grab a late-night taco, and stroll past neon signs glowing with stories from the city’s early days. Just minutes away, you’ll also find The Mob Museum and The Neon Museum if you want to keep the fun rolling.    Ready to fill your September in Las Vegas with energy, excitement, and a dash of glam?
