San Francisco Bay Cruise sights
Pier 39 Sea Lions – see the sea lions and seals up close as they frolic around the Pier 39 departure area. These friendly marine mammals love the waters of San Francisco Bay for its relatively cool temperatures and rocky coastline.
Golden Gate Bridge – one of the world’s most famous landmarks, and the icon of San Francisco. You’ll sail right under this bridge on your Blue & Gold Bay Cruise Adventure. This bridge was the longest suspension bridge in the world when it was completed in 1937, and has been declared one of the modern Wonders of the World by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Alcatraz Island – the famous prison complex is located 1.5 miles off the coast of San Francisco and is often referred to as 'the Rock'. The island once served as a lighthouse hub but was then used as a Federal Prison until 1963. While it's now maintained by the National Park Service as part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, the prison once confined such notorious criminals as Al Capone, George 'Machine Gun' Kelly, and Mickey Cohen. During the 29 years of its operation, the penitentiary claimed that no prisoner had ever made a successful escape.
Angel Island – often referred to as the 'Ellis Island of the West', this pretty little island was the immigration hub of the western United States and between 1910 and 1940 saw as many as one million Asian immigrants pass through its document center.
