Adler Planetarium highlights

Chicago's Night Sky – this new 5,000 sq foot exhibition explores how we humans relate to the night sky.

Imagine the Moon – an original planetarium show that looks at how the moon has sparked imagination through the ages. 

Our Solar System – touch a piece of Mars and compare your footprint to the ones left on the moon. You can even make your own mini crater in this interactive exhibit.

The Universe: A Walk Through Space and Time – journey through the galaxy from start to finish. Investigate the mystery of nine billion light-years of history.

Planet Explorers – the perfect place to take the kids. This junior space adventure allows them to discover the world of outer space in ways they can understand.

Know before you go

Getting in: simply show your pass to gain admission. Staff will provide you with tickets to the museum and help you select your sky shows.

Please note: 

  • Your museum entry +2 admission includes all exhibitions and your choice of two sky shows, including Imagine the Moon, the Adler's original sky show.
  • Go City customers are encouraged to arrive early the day of your visit to book shows, based on availability.
  • The Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon sky is not included in the choices. It can added for an additional $20 each at the box office the day of your visit. Subject to availability.

A. Yes, you can grab a bite to eat or purchase snacks and drinks at the Cosmic Cafe.

Q. Can I park at the Adler Planetarium?
A. Yes, for a fee you can park in the lot adjacent to the Adler Planetarium, which is owned by Standard Parking.

Q. Is the Adler Planetarium wheelchair accessible?
A. Yes, the Adler Planetarium is fully wheelchair accessible, with ramps and elevators throughout the building.

Closings & holidays

From October 3, 2023 – May 23, 2024, the Adler Planetarium will be closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays exclusively for school field trips.

This excludes November 21 and Tuesdays and Thursdays between: December 28, 2023 to January 15, 2024 and March 26, 2024 to April 8, 2024. 

Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. 

On rare occasions, this attraction closes early due to private functions. Hours vary during certain times of the year, so visit the Adler Planetarium website prior to your visit for the most up-to-date information.
